MICR Font Upgrade for InfoPrint 4100 -------------------------------------------------------------------- This MICR font upgrade provides two character sets, a code page, and a coded font that enhance the MICR capabilities of the InfoPrint 4100 The character sets are: CZROAE - an outline version of MICR E13-B C0R0AE13.300 - a 300-pel version of MICR E13-B A new version of the MICR E13-B code page, T1001032, is also provided. This code page has additional mappings commonly used by Siemens and Oce printers for 4 special MICR symbols. Use this code page if you need to access the MICR symbols via those code points. The code page can also be used in all other MICR E13-B applications. These additional mappings include: X'C1' (EBCDIC "A") mapped to Transit (SIV) Character is SO600000 X'C2' (EBCDIC "B") mapped to Amount (SI) Character is SO610000 X'C3' (EBCDIC "C") mapped to On-Us (SII) Character is SO620000 X'C4' (EBCDIC "D") mapped to Dash (SIII) Character is SO630000 Coded font X0AE13 pairs character set C0R0AE13 and code page T1001032. It is identical to any X0AE13 coded font you might already have in your PSF font libraries. E13-B MICR fonts are tuned for particular print engines. With one exception, they should only be used on printers for which they were designed. The exception is the case where a Troy MICR post processor is attached to an IBM InfoPrint 4000, 3900, or 3835 printer. When printing to Troy MICR post processors, the E13-B font is not printed on the IBM printer, thus the design of the font characters is not important. The font is simply used to select characters in the Troy MICR post processor. Any IBM-supplied MICR-enabled E-13B font, regardless of the printer for which it was designed, can be used in Troy MICR post processor environments. The following table shows various sources for E13-B MICR fonts and the printers with which they can be used. Note that MICR fonts are no longer provided as printer features. Source of E13-B Font InfoPrint 4000 IS1/ID1 Troy MICR PP 3828 4028 ---------------------- ---------------------- ------------ ---- ---- Printer Features X X X InfoPrint 4100 Upgrade X X Since the E13-B fonts in this upgrade package are not tuned for the 3828 and 4028, they cannot be used with these printers. If you are currently using these printers, do not replace your existing E13-B fonts. To print E13-B on both InfoPrint 4100 and other MICR printers, maintain separate PSF font libraries for the MICR fonts for these printers. To install these fonts, GET the fonts in BINARY format from this FTP site. "GET" is an FTP command, but you can use a browser just as well. Just select the files you want and pull them off the site. Once on your PC, the fonts are uploaded in BINARY to a host system. MVS, VM, and VSE users must "reblock" the uploaded file into MO:DCA record format. Reblockers for each system are available on this FTP site in /printer/tools/mvsvmreblk for MVS and VM, or /vsereblk for VSE. Copy the outline or 300-pel (or both, if printing MICR at both 240 and outline dpi) into a PSF font library of the same resolution, along with the other MICR font members.
