Congratulations on your download of the world's most comprehensive remote printer management application. The InfoPrint Solutions Company Printer Management Utility (PMU) is written in JAVA to provide superior cross-platform compatibility. With the InfoPrint Solutions Company Printer Management Utility you will be able to customize and configure your printers to an extent that until now was unimaginable. It also allows you to set two levels of system security, providing both a user and a supervisor password. Features include: * View the printer's "front panel" display, and press virtual front panel keys. * Capture configuration printouts & error logs in text format. * Upload, download, edit and save entire sets of configuration data on your host computer. Edit operations include adding, and removing options from the front panel's menu tree in addition to being able to change the values of any printer parameter. * Download a saved set of configuration data to any number of printers, providing a simple method for ensuring a homogenous printing environment. * Download fonts, data files, or EVFU's to the printer's file system. Update the printer's firmware. * View a printer's status. * Reboot a printer. * Install a printer password to prevent unauthorized access * Online Barcode Data Validation Capture for viewing and analysis. * Web based Printer Management Utility access with printer status and configuration data viewing. * Operation Panel accessibility from a browser. All of the applications and features are launched using the printer database interface. The printer database allows you to create a graphical representation of the printer on your network in the familiar tree structure. The database can contain printers, configurations, and software upgrades organized hierarchically within folders in the order that makes the most sense to you. Features like upgrading software, propagating configuration data, and viewing the status of a printer can be done either on an individual printer, or on an entire group of printers simultaneously. The database also provides cut, copy, and paste functionality to make creating your database as simple as possible. This product is a Java application and should run well on any Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that is fully 1.5 compliant. In reality, many of the JVM implementations are not bug-free. Also, since Java is platform independent, each platform will have one or more JVMs designed specifically for that platform. JVMs differ in speed, resource usage and invocation methods. It is impossible for InfoPrint Solutions Company to test this product on all JVMs, and it is also impossible to provide an automatic installation method that will work with all JVMs. 2. Java programs generally require large amounts of memory, and minimum system usually operate faster when more memory is provided. For PMU Version 3 and above we are recommending a system that has a 450MHz CPU and above with a minimum of 128 MB and preferably 256 MB of RAM. 3. If you are having problems running this product, first try turning off the JVM's Just In Time Compiler (JIT). See your JVM documentation. 4. The installation program searches for all JVMs on your current system. Please select version 1.5 and above for your JVM not 'jview'. This product is not compatible with any version of Microsoft's 'jview' JVM.
