What's GML? Why should I use it?

Question

What's GML? You keep telling me I should use it...why?

Answer

The Generalized Markup Language Starter Set is shipped with DCF. It:

  1. describes a document's logical structure rather than its physical
      appearance (intent vs. presentation)
  2. can be used to enforce document style standards

So your interoffice memos don't look like ransom notes with 20 fonts
      per page!
  3. allows for printer-independent document source which makes document
      interchange easier
  4. makes life easier for end users and script support folks
  5. could make it easier to migrate to new intent-based (SGML) products.
