3800-1 underscores don't print correctly

Sometimes when I print on the 3800-1 my underscores don't line up correctly and my index header boxes are out of alignment?

Answer

  You are formatting for a 3800-1 device type and printing to a 3800-3 in
  3800-1 compat mode. There is a hardware restriction which results in the
  incorrect output. If you know you'll be printing on a 3800-3 in compat
  mode, minimize the use of underscored fonts.
