SOURCE: BLD FLASH 9638 SOURCE MATERIAL DATED: 9/96 USING OCR FONTS ON 3130 FROM AS/400 If an AS/400 application uses OCR-A (FGID 019 or 305) or OCR-B (FGID 003 or 306) fonts for printing, specified in the Printer File, in DDS, in AFP Utilities/400 or other AS/400 application interfaces for printing, the 3130 printer requires that the correct GCSGID (Graphic Character Set Global ID) and CPGID (Code Page ID) also be used in order to get the correct font. In most cases, the customer may have specified the correct FGID and Code Page, but is picking up the system default GCSGID from the System Values *SYSVAL definition. The correct GCSGID must be specified in a CHRID parameter in the Printer File or other application print interface. The values are: GCSGID CPGID OCR-A 968 892 OCR-B 969 893 Other printers, like the 3116, 3816, 3930, etc. all ignore the GCSGID value. So these printers may have appeared to work properly even if the GSCGID was incorrect. For the 3130, the GCSGID must be correct for the selected FGID and Code Page, or the font will not be activated in the printer, and the printer will respond to PSF/400 with a NACK (negative acknowledgement). Sense bytes associated with this error are likely to be X'02180n00DE####oooossssD62D3002nnnnnnnn', where nn.. indicates the page in error, #### indicates the number of occurrences, oooo indicates an overlay id (if the error is in an overlay), ssss if the error is in a page segment.
