Tivoli Ready Enablement

=======================

With the purchase of an IBM software product that carries the "Tivoli

Ready" logo, you have the ability to manage your IBM software products

through the Tivoli Enterprise management products, allowing you to

automatically discover, monitor, and inventory one or more "Tivoli

Ready" applications.

IBM software products that are "Tivoli Ready" can be managed through

either the Tivoli Enterprise Console (TEC), or through Tivoli Global

Enterprise Manager (GEM). Supported TME configurations include

managing IBM applications that are installed on TME managed nodes,

PC managed nodes and endpoints in a distributed environment.

On the following Tivoli website, a free "Tivoli Ready" enablement

package is available for Tivoli Administrators to download for

configuring your TME environment to manage IBM applications with

"Tivoli Ready" support with either TEC or Tivoli GE

Tivoli Ready Content Manager for AIX 6.1

================================================================

The Tivoli Ready instrumentation, when configured, provides you with

the ability to:

·         graphically view the health of the Content Manager Library and Object    Servers through Tivoli Global Enterprise Manager 2.2 or higher &         Tivoli Enterprise Console (TEC) 3.6 or higher

·         inventory Content Manager for AIX 6.1 using Tivoli Inventory

To install and configure your instrumentation:

-----------------------------------------------

The following information describes the files contained in this tar file and where they should be placed on the AIX system:

·         The components that are monitored are the Library Server and/or the Object Server. They are monitored using scripts that make calls to AIX commands.

·         The files that contain this instrumentation are the SLF and script files.

·         The files for the Library Server are Library_Server_-_AIX1_1_0.slf, frnxtvld and frnxtvls.

·         For the Object Server they are Object_Server_-_AIX1_1_0.slf, frnxtvod and frnxtvos.

·         A copy of the file frnxtvck plus the set of 3 files for whichever server(s) (Library and/or Object) need to be placed in:

    /etc/tivready/monitorslfs

·         That is, if you have only the Library Server on your system, you need to copy the four files Library_Server_-_AIX1_1_0.slf, frnxtvld, frnxtvls and frnxtvck.

·         If you have both Library and Object Server installed on this AIX system, then you will have to copy all seven files (the 3 files for the Library Server, 3 more for the Object Server and a 1 copy of frnxtvck).

·         These files are used by the monitoring software contained in the "Tivoli Ready" enablement package to monitor the state of the servers across your enterprise environment when used with the TEC and/or Tivoli GEM products.

·         Your Tivoli Administrator will need to install and configure the "Tivoli Ready" enablement package to activate the monitoring.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Your Tivoli Administrator will need to:

---------------------------------------

1.    Install and configure the "Tivoli Ready" enablement package to activate the monitoring on each machine that is to be monitored. The enablement package and detailed instructions on how to install, configure and customize can be found at:

http://www.tivoli.com/support/tme10gem/tivoli-ready

2.    The AMP file is needed to configure the Tivoli Enterprise Environment.  This AMP must be imported into the GEM 2.2 application as described in the GEM 2.2 documentation.

3.    To prepare for Tivoli Inventory, create a new subdirectory called "tivready" under the Content Manager Product directory.

      mkdir /usr/lpp/frn/tivready

chmod 775 /usr/lpp/frn/tivready

Then copy the inventory file (frnxcmtr.sys) into that directory and

mark it as executable.

      cp frnxcmtr.sys /usr/lpp/frn/tivready/frnxcmtr.sys

      chmod 755 /usr/lpp/frn/tivready/frnxcmtr.sys

Additional detailed information is available in the Tivoli Ready

enablement package.
