Welcome to IBM® DB2® OLAP Server™ Miner, Version 8.1.1 (OLAP Miner).
Version 8.1.1 includes the full 8.1 product and one fix for the login window. The
login window no longer freezes when you enter an incorrect user ID or password.
Supported software
The OLAP Miner server is supported on the following operating systems:
- Windows XP Professional
- Windows 2000
- Windows NT 4.0
- AIX 5L
The OLAP Miner client is supported on the following operating systems:
- Windows XP Professional
- Windows 2000
- Windows NT 4.0
First-time users of OLAP Miner
If you are installing OLAP Miner for the first time, see the DB2 OLAP Server,
Version 8.1 Installation Guide. For information about configuring and
using OLAP Miner, see the OLAP Miner Setup
and User's Guide.
To install OLAP Miner for the first time on Windows:
- Download and extract the miner.zip file to
a temporary directory.
- From the installation package or from the OLAP Miner CD, run setup.exe.
- The installation program prompts you for the following information:
- For the OLAP Miner server:
- The alias name of the OLAP server that you want to examine with
OLAP Miner
- The host address (IP address) of the OLAP server component. The
address is added to the bin\omserver.cfg
file.
- For the OLAP Miner client:
- The host address (IP address) of the computer on which the OLAP
Miner server is installed. The address is added to the bin\omclient.cfg
file.
To install OLAP Miner for the first time on AIX:
- Download and untar the miner_aix.tar file
to a temporary directory.
- Run the omsetup.sh file.
- The installation program prompts you for the following information:
- The alias name of the OLAP server component of DB2 OLAP Server
- The host address (IP address) of the OLAP server component. The
address is added to the bin\omserver.cfg
file.
Downloading and installing the update for OLAP Miner for Windows
If you installed the general availability version of OLAP Miner, Version 8.1,
follow these instructions to install the update (version 8.1.1).
- Download and extract the file miner.zip to
a temporary directory.
- From the installation package or from the OLAP Miner CD, run setup.exe.
- In the Maintenance installation window, select Repair and click Next.
- A prompt asks you whether you want to exit the
installation to shut down OLAP Miner. Click No.
- In the Selection Summary window, click Next.
The program applies the fix.
- Click Finish.
Downloading and installing the update for OLAP Miner for AIX
If you installed the general availability version of OLAP Miner, Version 8.1,
follow these instructions to install the update (version 8.1.1).
- On your AIX system, untar the installation file miner_aix.tar
by entering the
following command from the temporary directory containing the installation
.tar file:
tar -xf miner_aix.tar
- Run omsetup.sh to launch the
installation program.
- Follow the installation prompts.
After the installation is complete, you can delete the .tar file.
