APAR IC22110 Description: Uninstall of Refreshed LANDesk can cause blue screen in Windows NT. Summary: LANDesk Uninstall removes Microsoft core component MSVCRT.DLL, causing OS failure on reboot. Conclusion: This file includes information about the fix to prevent a blue screen from occuring when uninstalling LANDesk Server Manager when LANDesk Desktop Manager is also installed. There are two versions of this patch. One is for customers with the product previously installed; the other is for an image that has not yet been installed. ENDUSER version This patch is included in the zip file with these fixed product files: NAME DATE SIZE SMIConsole.ocx 11/9/98 105 KB Waitwndw.exe 11/12/98 144 KB CoreComp.ini 9/29/98 24 KB The patch files are contained individually in a folder named EndUser in the case where these files need to be replaced on a customer's installation of the product. To patch a customer's installation: 1. Copy SMIConsole.ocx to :\WinNT\system32\Intel\ServerManager\uninstall\components 2. Copy Waitwndw.exe to :\Program Files\Intel\Dtm\install 3. Copy CoreComp.ini to :\Program Files\Intel\Dtm\install After copying the three files above, run regedit from Start | Run to modify this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Desktop Manager\UninstallString. Change the value from this: :\WINNT\UNINST.EXE -fDeIsL(x).isu -cUPDSTATS.DLL -a to this: :\WINNT\UNINST.EXE -fDeIsL(x-1).isu -cUPDSTATS.DLL -a For example, if the value were: "-fDeIsL6.isu". It would change to this: "-fDeIsL5.isu". After editing this value, save this change by clicking OK on the Edit String dialog, and then close the registry. IMAGE version This patch is included in the zip file with these fixed product files: NAME DATE SIZE SMIConsole.ocx 11/9/98 105 KB mfc.z 11/12/98 2092 KB _setup.lib 11/12/98 1020 KB Setup.ins 11/16/98 124 KB The patch files are in a folder named OEMImage in the case where these files need to be replaced on an uninstalled image of the product. To patch an image: 1. Copy SMIConsole.ocx to LDSM\Components. 2. The Waitwndw.exe is compressed inside the file called mfc.z, which resides in the OEMImage\LDMS\Dtm\enu folder. Copy mfc.z to the image at LDMS\Dtm\enu. 3. The CoreComp.ini is compressed inside the file called _setup.lib. Copy the _setup.lib from the OEMImage\LDMS\Dtm\enu folder to the image at LDMS\Dtm\enu. 4. The Setup.ins file is in the OEMImage\LDMS\Dtm\enu folder. Copy this file to the image at LDMS\Dtm\enu.
