Stop the Intel Distribution and Intel Scheduler services on the Core server. 2. Close the Management console. 3. Unregister the old files with the following command. REGSVR32 should be executed from the DTM directory to properly find the files: REGSVR32 /U TASKLOG.OCX REGSVR32 /U MSDP.DLL REGSVR32 /U NETMAP.OCX REGSVR32 /U INTERPRETER.DLL REGSVR32 /U MSINTERP2.DLL REGSVR32 /U LDCCFG.OCX REGSVR32 /U INVTREE.OCX 4. Extract the files from FILES.EXE by executing it. 5. Copy BINDTREE.DLL, TASKLOG.OCX, MSDP.DLL, INTERPRETER.DLL, MSINTERP2.DLL, NDSSECUR.DLL, NETMAP.OCX, LDCCFG.OCX, SWED32.EXE, NDSTREE.DLL, ENUNETMP.DLL and INVTREE.DLL to the DTM directory of the core server and all consoles. 6. Copy the new WAITWNDW.EXE to the DTM\INSTALL directory of all management consoles after they are installed. 7. Copy BIGJOB32.DLL, MULTPROT.DLL, TASKAPI.DLL and LDWMNT.DLL to the SYSTEM or SYSTEM32 directory of all consoles. 8. Copy the new TASKAPI.DLL file into the Windows* NT System32 directory on the core server. 9. Copy MULTPROT.DLL to the DTM\LDLOGON directory of the core server. 10. Register the new files with the following command. REGSVR32 should be executed from the DTM directory to properly find the files: REGSVR32 TASKLOG.OCX REGSVR32 MSDP.DLL REGSVR32 NETMAP.OCX REGSVR32 INTERPRETER.DLL REGSVR32 MSINTERP2.DLL REGSVR32 LDCCFG.OCX REGSVR32 INVTREE.OCX 11. Restart the Intel Distribution and Intel Scheduler services. IMPORTANT NOTE: All patches should be applied as a set. There are some interdependencies between files that can cause some functions to fail if all files are not applied as a group. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SYMPTOMS ADDRESSED: Symptom Depending on the contents of the database and what columns are selected for a column file, the following error could appear when populating columns in the network view: Connection busy with results from another HSTMT. Solution Apply NETMAP.OCX dated 14-Oct-1998. Symptom When attempting to remote control from a computer that has Windows NT Service Pack 4 applied, the console would generate a Dr. Watson. Solution Apply LDWMNT.DLL dated 14-Oct-1998. Symptom When attempting to enter an address into the CBA Discovery options page, the console, would set the subnet mask to be what the console machine's mask is, not allowing you to enter a different mask. Solution Apply NETMAP.OCX and ENUNETMP.DLL dated 14-Oct-1998. Symptom When using Novell's Windows NT Client v4.5, an error is generated when attempting to modify an NDS Security template. Solution Apply NDSSECUR.DLL dated 14-Oct-1998. Symptom When attempting to view many NT global groups (typically more than 24), the console would not display all of them. Solution Apply NETMAP.OCX dated 14-Oct-1998. Symptom When attempting to query on user-defined attributes, depending on which class the attribute was assigned to, the attribute would not be found. Solution Apply INVTREE.OCX dated 28-Oct-1998 or later. Also, all user-defined attributes must be deleted and then recreated to be able to be queried on. Symptom When browsing an NDS tree and expanding a user, not all computers would show up. For example, if 5 computers were logged in as Admin, maybe only 2 would show if the Admin user was expanded in the Network View. Cause The console would look at the NDS Login Name and search for any machine in the database with that exact login name. This means if the database is case sensitive or if the user was not scanned in logged in as that user, the computer would not be displayed. Solution Apply NETMAP.OCX and NDSTREE.DLL dated 14-Oct-1998. The console now display all connections that are listed in the NDS user's Network Address property by displaying the IPX network:node for that computer. Any computers that also are in the database with that IPX address will also have their Display Name listed from the database. Symptom When attempting to delete an item that was scheduled, such as a form but is no longer scheduled, an error would be generated. Solution Apply LDCCFG.OCX dated 29-Oct-1998 or later. Symptom When attempting to edit an LDAPPL.INI that had the [BIOS Info] section, the console would delete all headers in the [BIOS Info] section, causing the BIOS scanning not to function. Symptom If the [BIOS Info] section of the LDAPPL.INI was too large, the Software Editor would GPF. Solution Apply SWED32.EXE dated 26-Oct-1998 or later. Symptom NDS groups could be added to a NetWare based security template, however they would not work. Solution Apply MULTPROT.DLL dated 22-Sep-1998 and LDWMNT.DLL dated 14-Oct-1998. Symptom When attempting to modify a NetWare-based security template with many users associated with it an NDS error would occur. Solution Apply NDSSECUR.DLL dated 14-Oct-1998. Symptom If the core server is rebooted after the default client configuration is modified, the changes are lost. Cause The console was not modifying the .IN# files only the .INI files that client configuration uses. When the Intel Inventory Server service starts it compares the files and if they are different, replaces the .INI with the .IN#. Solution Apply BIGJOB32.DLL dated 17-Aug-1998 or later. Symptom When removing the console, Windows NT would blue screen in WINLOGON when attempting to boot. Cause Certain .DLLs, such as MSVCRT.DLL, that are necessary for Windows NT to be able to boot, would infrequently be removed. Solution Apply WAITWNDW.EXE dated 13-Aug-1998 or later. Symptom The user would be unable to select items to query. The user would go into the query dialog and select an attribute to query on, such as Software - Package - Name. After 30 seconds, the console would no longer be busy, however no values were displayed in the Scanned Values list box. Cause The default timeout was being used, which is 30 seconds. However if the database is large enough and no DataMart is used, then the query to retrieve the list of values would take longer than 30 seconds and so no values are displayed in the Scanned Values list box. Solution Apply MSDP.DLL dated 20-Jul-1998 or later. Also a registry key must be created that the console will read to determine what the timeout should be set at. This key is not created during the install. The default is 30 seconds. Modify the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\LDMS\Query Add a DWORD value with Name = timeout and Data = . Symptom When going into the query dialog, the user could not select what computers did NOT have a particular piece of software. Solution Apply NETMAP.OCX dated 14-Oct-1998, INTERPRETER.DLL and MSINTERP2.DLL dated 06-Jul-98 or later. Symptom When using Microsoft SQL Server, select Print Inventory Data would return the following error message: Connection busy with results from another HSTMT. Solution Apply NETMAP.OCX dated 14-Oct-1998. Symptom Not all connections were seen when going into the NetWare Servers or Novell Directory Services section of the Network View on the console. Cause Connections that were authenticated and thus would not show up in the licensed count and NOT_LOGGED_IN users who should not show up in the list at all were counted as part of the license count by the console. The console would stop scanning for valid connections at the end of the license count, instead of at the end of the list of connections. Solution Apply BINDTREE.DLL dated 30-Jun-98 or later. Symptom When attempting to modify the security template for an organizational unit or any item under a country, the following error would appear: You do not have sufficient rights to modify the template for . Solution Apply NDSSECUR.DLL dated 14-Oct-1998. Symptom Viewing or creating a task with multiple workstations in the Scheduler console is very slow. This may also impact opening of the Management Console if the Scheduler Console was open when the console was last closed. Cause Retrieving the necessary information from the database was slow. The console will now copy values from the Management database to a temporary database table which allows faster completion of the task. Solution Apply TASKAPI.DLL and TASKLOG.OCX dated 15-May-98 or later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TRADEMARKS LANDesk is a registered trademark of Intel Corporation. *Other products and corporate names may be trademarks of other companies and are used only for explanation and to the owners' benefit, without intent to infringe.
