    Introduction

This readme file contains the latest installation news, hints, and tips for the following IBM suites:

An HTML version of the Getting Started manual is located on the filesystem after the suite installation software has been installed. An English version is installed in:

You can find translated versions installed in:

where <locale> indicates the name of a translation which was installed with the suite installation support, if applicable.

    Latest Hints and Tips

    Updated Software and Hardware Requirements

The suite Getting Started manual lists the hardware and software requirements needed for suite installation. In addition to AIX 4.3.1, the suite also supports AIX 4.3.2. If you are installing IBM Enterprise Suite and you plan to use the suite installation program to install the TXSeries component, contact IBM Service for any additional fixes that may be required on AIX V4.3.2.

In addition, the following disk space requirements table has been updated for Lotus Domino and WebSphere:

    Suite installation program:

    • IBM_Ent_Suite install (IBM Enterprise Suite only)
    • IBM_Suite install (IBM Suite only)
    • IBM_Bus_Suite install (IBM Business Integration Suite only)

    4M
IBM DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Edition

    • /usr

    • /var
    136M

    • 108M

    • 28M

IBM MQSeries (IBM Enterprise Suite and IBM Business Integration Suite only)

    • /usr

    • /var

    124M

    • 72M

    • 52M

    IBM Net.Data 32M
    IBM Suite Sample Application 12M
IBM TXSeries (IBM Enterprise Suite only) 184M
    IBM WebSphere Application Server 35M
    IBM eNetwork Communications Server 112M
    Lotus Domino 750M
    Netscape Navigator 35M

    Suite CD-ROM Number Changes

CD-ROM number 2 referenced in the suite Getting Started manual is now 2-1 through 2-x, depending on the language version of the software you are planning to install.

    DB2 UDB Considerations

When installing DB2 UDB, Domino, and the Sample Application, the suite installation program will configure both components and the Sample Application. However, if an earlier version of DB2 UDB already exists on the computer, and you specify an existing DB2 UDB instance for the Sample Application setup, you must update the DB2 UDB instance after UDB V5.2 has been installed so that the installation program can complete the necessary configuration. Update the instance before the installation program begins to install Domino and the Sample Application.

To update the DB2 UDB instance, use the command:

    /usr/lpp/db2_05_00/instance/db2iupdt

See the DB2 UDB documentation for more information regarding instance updates.

    Lotus Domino Server Error Message

You may occasionally see the following message in your Domino console:

    PANIC: 01:BE
    Fatal Error Signal
    Freezing all server threads.....

To recover, manually stop all outstanding Domino processes, and remove shared memory and semaphores before you can restart the server. For example:

You can then safely restart the server.

    Domino Requires APAR IX85874

APAR IX85874 is required when you install Lotus Domino V5. This APAR supersedes all Domino APARs mentioned in the suites Getting Started manual.

Note that APAR IX85874 contains filesets that may not be applied to your computer if the corresponding base level fileset is not on the computer. The following messages are likely to appear during the installation of Domino on AIX 4.3.1. These messages indicate those filesets which were not applied to your computer. No action is required.
