LANDP/6000 PTF UB36408 - README ------------------------------- This README file adds to or replaces information given in the printed and online publications. It contains the following sections: - Before you install UB36408 - Getting help - PTF contents - Trademarks _________________________________________________________________________ Before you install UB36408 -------------------------- Software requirements --------------------- To use the IBM 4777 and IBM 4778 devices, the financial devices device driver (Part Number 42H4896) must be installed on the RS/6000. Hardware requirements --------------------- There are no new hardware requirements. _________________________________________________________________________ Getting help ------------ If you think you have found a problem with the product, please contact your local IBM Support Center. You may wish to contact your IBM Support Center after installing the product, in case there are any fixes already available which you may require. _________________________________________________________________________ LANDP for AIX Version 2.1 PTF UB36408 ------------------------------------- * New server ---------- dczytrfile - trace to file utility ---------------------------------- In some circumstances you may not be able to use the dczytrdsp command: for example, you may not be able to run Motif applications. The trace to file utility gives you another way of storing trace information. Start the utility by entering the command dczytrfile [-f fname] where fname is the name of the file to which you are writing. If you omit the parameter, the file /tmp/landp.trace is used. All trace records currently in shared memory are written to fname in ASCII format (formatted). Unlike dczytrdsp, the utility does not filter out any fields. If the -f flag is used without the fname parameter or if the fname supplied is invalid, the utility displays the syntax of the command. * Servers changed --------------- SNA server ---------- The LANDP/6000 SNA server now recognises a link-station as using X.25 data link control when running with SNA Server/6000, and will use the x loading parameter. Query server ------------ The environment variable MALLOCTYPE=3.1 is no longer needed, and its use is inefficient. It is no longer included in the autolandp startup script (/etc/landp/autolandp) and should be removed from any autolandp scripts created previously if you are planning to use the new Query Server. This applies to all versions of the query server: dczydbinf dczydbora dczydbdb2 LAN server ---------- The maximum number of workstations allowed in a workgroup using the LAN server for communications has been increased to 249. LANDP Internet protocol ----------------------- The maximum number of workstations allowed in a workgroup using LANDP Internet protocol for communications has been increased to 249. A check has been added to ensure that there is only one workstation with a particular IP address. A new parameter -j is available to allow the LIP server to be run when some of the defined workstations do not have IP addresses in /etc/hosts. Magnetic stripe reader/encoder server ------------------------------------- The MSRE server's error recovery has improved. Program-to-program communication server --------------------------------------- Conversations are now cleared up and deallocated when '**' is received from a client workstation unloading LANDP (using either the dczyfree command or the SMIT systems management tool). Printer server -------------- The alias limit has been increased to 5000. Shared-file server ------------------ The shared-file server now has improved tracing using the messages in /etc/landp/LANDP.LOG. * Version utility --------------- The version utility, dczyversion, has been updated to show the new trace to file utility dczytrfile (see above). _________________________________________________________________________ Trademarks ---------- The following terms are trademarks of the IBM Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: IBM LANDP AIX _________________________________________________________________________ Install Instructions for UB36408 TARZBIN ------------------------------------------ To install the PTF do the following: 1.
