Overview of the Everyplace Connection Manager

IBM WebSphere Everyplace Connection Manager (from now on referred to as Connection Manager) lets you connect mobile computing devices to your company's private intranet and the Internet securely. It uses standards-based protocols to connect over a wide variety of networks, both wireline and wireless, efficiently and easily.

Connection Manager consists of these separately installable components:

Connection Manager
Provides a standard communications interface (TCP/IP) to a variety of wireless, dial-up, and LAN networks with data optimization and security. The Connection Manager runs on the IBM AIX(R), Sun Solaris, and Linux(R) operating systems.
Mobility Client
Provides an optimized and secure IP tunnel for communication with the Connection Manager using a variety of wireless and wireline networks. The Mobility Client is available on the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000, Windows XP, Windows CE, Symbian OS, Linux, and Palm OS operating systems.
Gatekeeper
is an XML and Java(TM)-based interface used to administer wireless IT resources. Gatekeeper runs on these operating systems: AIX, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux and Sun Solaris.

Viewing and printing the Connection Manager guides

Installation CD 2 contains online versions of the following Connection Manager guides:

The location of these guides on installation CD 2 is: /doc/lang, where lang is your language.

The guides are in portable document format (PDF); you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 5.0 or greater to view or print them. You can download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader from http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html.

You can view and print these guides directly from the compact disk (CD) on a Windows platform or you can copy these files to your hard disk or server for faster access. Putting the files on your server allows you to share them with others on your internal networks.

Viewing the information center

The information center is a collection of technical information for the Connection Manager. It is a browser-based interface that provides links to the following help topics and online information:
