Updating
Affinity Logical Partitions
Affinity logical partitions are only able to be updated after processors have been added to or removed from a managed system. Updating allows you to add or remove only one or a few affinity logical partitions as new or removed processor resources allow.
To update affinity partitions after a service representative has added or removed resources on the managed system, you must be a member of one of the following roles:
- System Administrator
- Advanced Operator
To update affinity partitions after adding or removing processor
resources, do the following:
- In the Contents area, select the managed system.
- From the selected menu, select Affinity Logical Partitions.
- Select Update.
- The HMC will automatically detect whether you need to add or remove affinity logical partitions, and how many affinity partitions should be added or removed.
If you have removed partition resources from your managed system, the HMC lists the affinity partitions associated with the removed resources. Click OK to remove these affinity partitions.
If you have added partition resources, the affinity logical partition setup wizard will appear. Fill in the setup wizard as instructed in the affinity logical partition "Setup" help text.
