About Switch Network Management

You must enable the Switch Network Manager (SNM) software on the HMC if the Cluster 1600 is configured with the pSeries HPS. SNM initializes the pSeries HPS networks, monitors network status, performs recovery for hardware systems, and provides error reporting.

The Switch Network Management application uses the SNM software to provide the following functions:

• View switch, adapter, and link information
• Power switch boards on and off
• Perform diagnostic functions
• View power environmentals
• View software trace files
• View switch network management properties
