Activating Partitions

To activate a partition, you must be a member of one of the following roles:

If the required resources you specified when you created the partition exceed the amount of available resources, the partition will not activate. For this reason, it is important to keep track of the system's resources at all times.

There are a few ways in which a partition can be activated. You can choose to activate a partition from a specific partition profile, or you can activate the partition without first selecting a partition profile. You can also activate partitions using a System Profile (refer to the "Activate System Profile" help text).

Activating from a Specific Partition Profile
To activate a partition from a specific partition profile, do the following:

  1. In the Contents area, select the desired partition profile for the partition you wish to activate.
  2. On the menu, click Selected.
  3. Select Activate.
  4. The current partition profile name is highlighted. Click OK to activate using this partition profile. If you would like to activate using a different profile, select another profile in the list and click OK.

Activating before Selecting a Partition Profile
To activate a partition without first specifying a partition profile, do the following:

  1. In the Contents area, select the partition you wish to activate.
  2. On the menu, click Selected.
  3. Select Activate.
  4. The default profile name is highlighted. Click OK to activate using the default profile. If you would like to activate using a different profile, select another profile in the list and click OK.
