IBM® SPSS® Data Collection Interviewer 6 is available. Compatibility, installation, and other getting-started issues are addressed.

Description

Interviewer 6 is a fully integrated interviewing solution for mobile and on-site data collection. Using Interviewer, you can conduct operations using automated data synchronization via server or manual data transfers in a non-server environment. The primary components include Interviewer, Synchronization Console, and Remote Administrator.

Compatibility issues with earlier versions

IBM SPSS Data Collection Interviewer 6 no longer support the following features:

The Data Entry Player user interface has been improved and no longer supports HTML tags and formatting.
Keyboard shortcuts for various functions have been reduced from multi-stroke actions to single-stroke actions.
Only on-path responses (those keyed by an operator) are displayed in the historical response list.

Known problems

At time of publication, the following issues were known:

An error is encountered during synchronization when attempting to load an unassigned project. A work-around for this issue is to manually configure the web.config file's SyncWebService time-out value:
1. Remote or login directly to the Interview Server.
2. In Notepad, open the web.config file (C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\SPSSMR\SyncWebService)
3. Add the following section to the <System.web>... </System.web> section: <httpRuntime executionTimeout=”900”/>
4. Save the web.config file.
In the above example, the timeout value is changed to 900 seconds (15 minutes). You can also configure the time-out value on the Interviewer client. To configure the time-out on the client, add an attribute to the <Connection>... </Connection> section in the InterviewPlayer.config file. For example: <Connections Timeout="33330000">

You may encounter a Validation function. Error when re-keying duplicate entries. A work-around for this issue is to close and restart the Data Entry Player and reenter the correct grid size.
