IBM refreshes the documentation in the information center on a
regular basis. Any technical changes that are made to the text after
release are indicated by the double angle brackets (<< and >>) at the
beginning and end of the new or changed information. Depending on the way
in which you access the information center, you might need to take action
to obtain these updates.
- If you access the information center from the Internet site provided
by IBM at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/cicsts/v3r1/index.jsp,
you do not need to take any further action, as this site always displays the
most recent refresh of the documentation.
- If you access the information center over your organization's
intranet, your administrator needs to check for updates and apply them to the
server installation of the information center. The administrator can use the
FTP site to download updates.
- If you have the information center installed locally on your
workstation, use the FTP site to download any available documentation
updates:
- In a Web browser, go to the following site to browse the updates
that are available: ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/cics/infocenter/cics31/.
You can either download specific documentation JAR files or download all
the plug-ins in one plugins.zip file. The readme file lists all of the
plug-ins and provides descriptions of what documentation is provided in
each JAR file.
- To download a file, right-click on the link and select Save
link as. The menu options are slightly different depending on the Web
browser.
- Select the ibm_help\eclipse\plugins directory of your information
center to download the update into the correct directory. If you are
administering a server, you might need to download the updates first before
transferring the files to the correct location on the server.
- If you downloaded the plugins.zip file, extract the plug-ins in
the current directory.
- Delete the older versions of plug-ins to minimize the size of the
information center on your workstation or server. Every time the content
changes in a plug-in and is published, the version increments; for example,
from 3.1.0 to 3.1.1. The latest version of a plug-in is a complete
replacement for the previous version and contains all of the updates since
the information was first published.
- Restart the information center to pick up the changes.
