Resource monitoring definitions and their related views

You can use the resource monitoring administration views to define a variety of resource monitoring attributes. Figure 56 provides an overview of the resource monitoring views based on the CICSPlex® SM object model.

 The diagram shows the following views which are used to create and maintain resource monitoring objects (EUI views are in brackets): CICS system definition (CICSSYS) defines and maintains CICS systems which includes resource monitoring information. System group definition (CICSGRP) defines and maintains CICS system groups and displays information about them. Link monitor specification to CICS system and Link monitor specification to system group (MONSCOPE) define and maintain the association between a monitor specification and a CICS system group. Monitor specifications (MONSPEC) defines and maintains monitor specifications. Monitor group in monitor specification (MONINSPC) defines and maintains the association between a monitor group and a monitor specification. Monitor group definition (MONGROUP) defines and maintains a monitor group. Monitor definition within monitor group (MONINGRP) defines and maintains the association between a monitor definition and a monitor group. Time period definition (PERIODEF) defines and maintains period definitions. Monitor definition (MONDEF) defines and maintains monitor definitions.

In addition to the views shown here, you can use the Active monitor specifications WUI view (or the EUI MONACTV view, as described in Table 5), to display information about and manage the resource monitoring activity in an active CICS® system. In the EUI you can also display a visual map of your resource monitoring definitions by using the MAP action command, as described in CICSPlex SM Administration.

Figure 57 illustrates the relationship between resource monitoring in a CICSplex and the views used to define resource monitoring attributes.

 The diagram shows two MVS systems, System A and System B. System A has a CMAS, EYUCMS1A and four MASs, EYUMAS1A (a TOR), EYUMAS2A (an AOR), EYUMAS3A (an AOR) and EYUMAS4A (a FOR). System B has a CMAS, EYUCMS1B and a MAS, EYUMAS1B (an AOR). Sysplex EYUPLX01 contains all the MASs from both systems. System Group EYUCSG01 contains all three AORs (across both systems) and the FOR. EYUMAS1B is also contained in system group, EYUCSG05. EYUCMS1A is the maintenance point for CICSplex EYUPLX01. There is a connection between the two CMASs. The following views are used to define and maintain the definitions in the data repository (EUI views are in brackets) Monitor specification. (MONSPEC) defines and maintains monitor specification EYUMOS01. Link monitor specification to CICS system and Link monitor specification to system group (MONSCOPE) associate EYUMOS01 (specification) with EYUCSG01 (CICS system group). Monitor group definition (MONGROUP) defines and maintains monitor group EYUMOG01. MONINSPC associates EYUMOG01 (monitor group) with EYUMOS01 (monitor specification). Monitor definition (MONDEF) defines and maintains monitor definition EYUMOD01. Monitor definitions within monitor group (MONINGRP) asociates EYUMOD01 (monitor definition) with EYUMOG01 (monitor group).
