MAS resource monitoring

To use MAS resource monitoring, you need to establish analysis definitions, analysis groups, and analysis specifications.

Figure 2 illustrates the type of definitions you need in order to be notified if a specific condition should occur.

 The diagram shows the definitions needed for MAS resource monitoring. Two MVS systems, System A and System B are shown. System A has a CMAS, EYUCMS1A and four MASs, EYUMAS1A (a TOR), EYUMAS2A (an AOR), EYUMAS3A (an AOR) and EYUMAS4A (a FOR). System B has a CMAS, EYUCMS1B and a MAS, EYUMAS1B (an AOR). Sysplex EYUPLX01 contains all the MASs from both systems. System Group EYUCSG01 contains all three AORs (across both systems) and the FOR.. EYUMAS1B is also contained in system group, EYUCSG05. EYUCMS1A is the maintenance point for CICSplex EYUPLX01. There is a connection between the two CMASs. The data repository contains the following definitions: Analysis Definition EYURTD01 which contains Evaluation Definition EYURTE01 and Action Definition EYURTA01; Evaluation Definition EYURTE01 with Evaluation Condition "transactions AB* and average response time greater than 90" and Result Set action AVG; Action Definition EYURTA01 with Event set to YES, Text set to "Response exceeds 90" External Message set to NO and Alert set to NO; Analysis Group EYURTG01 containing Definition EYURTD01 and Specification EYURTS01; Analysis Specfication EYURTS01 with Scope EYUMAS1A.

In this illustration, all transactions starting with AB are to be evaluated. If the average response time of these transactions should be greater than 90 seconds, a CICSPlex SM event is to be generated and a record is added to the EVENT view.
