Images

Images in the information center have an alternative text description for the benefit of blind or partially sighted users.

All images have standard unformatted alternative text. This text can be seen when the mouse hovers over the image and will be read by screen readers if the image is displayed. If the browser is set to not display images, a placeholder containing this text will be displayed instead. If the image does not contain anything that is already described in the text, this alternative text may be no more than the name of the image file.

Some images with very complex descriptions have formatted alternative text. This text is displayed only if the information center's Text option is selected in the user preferences. If the Text option has been selected, the information center will not display images but will always display either the unformatted alternative text or, if it exists, the full formatted alternative text.
