Writing ECI server programs

Writing a server program to be invoked by the Client External Call Interface (ECI) is similar to writing one to be invoked by a distributed program link (DPL) request. ECI server programs can issue the same subset of EXEC CICS commands as DPL server programs (except that they cannot issue syncpoints, whereas DPL servers can do so if the client program specifies SYNCONRETURN on the LINK command).
