Solving MQSeries Internet Gateway problems

This page lists some of the actions you can take to try to resolve any problems you may experience while you are using MQSeries Internet Gateway.

Installation and setup checklist

Check that:
  1. your Web Server and MQSeries client are installed on the same machine
  2. a Queue Manager has been created
  3. the necessary MQ queues have been created (DMQGATEWAY, DMQSAMP1, and DMQSAMP2 for the samples) and that they can be accessed by the Web server process.
  4. the necessary keywords have been set, or that original defaults have not been corrupted
  5. your Web browser can access your Web server pages
  6. you have set up the correct Web server interface and use the sample HTML forms provided to check the setup
  7. your own forms follow the sample for the interface you are using
  8. your Web-aware applications use the structures shown in the sample applications

Error message information

If a program does not complete successfully, follow the advice given in the diagnostic messages.

Note: For MQSeries errors which are not Internet Gateway specific errors, see the MQSeries System Management Guide for the platform you are using.

Using Trace

If you cannot correct the problem with the error message information, you can use the MQSeries Internet Gateway Trace facility to try to get more information.

To activate Trace, set the DMQ_TRACE environment variable on. The method of setting the variable depends on your operating system:
Note: You may need to restart your Web server to activate the change in the environment variable.

AIX, HP_UX, & Solaris
Create a file called dmq.env in the /var/mqm subdirectory of your MQSeries Internet Gateway directory. This file should contains the following information: DMQ_TRACE ON DMQ_PATH /trace_path where trace_path is the path and directory in which the trace files should be stored.
Make sure that the directory exists and that the Web Server has write permissions to the directory.

Windows/NT
  1. Select Control Panel from the Settings menu
  2. Double click on the System icon in the Control Panel window
  3. Select the Environment page in the System window
  4. Enter DMQ_TRACE in the Variable field
  5. Enter on in the Value field
  6. Select Add
Repeat the procedure to set the DMQ_PATH variable to the directory in which your trace output should be stored.

The location of the Trace output will depend on the operating system and the Web server Use the following table to determine where to look for your trace output.

SystemInterfaceOutput
AIXall/tmp/DMQxxxxx.TRC
OS/2allDMQxxxxx.TRC in '\bin' directory of Gateway
Windows/NTallDMQxxxxx.TRC in 'DMQ_PATH' environment variable directory

To turn trace off, remove the DMQ_TRACE statement.
