WebSphere MQ Explorer V8.0 ========================== Introduction This package provides an installation of WebSphere MQ Explorer for environments where WebSphere MQ (Server component) is not installed. MQ Explorer is a graphical configuration tool which enables you to remotely explore and configure all WebSphere MQ objects and resources, including Java Message Service (JMS), and publish and subscribe. Prerequisites None Updating from a previous version If you already have a previous version of MQ Explorer installed, uninstall that version before proceeding with the installation of this version. Installation on Windows 1. Create a directory on the target machine. 2. On 32-bit systems uncompress the ms0t_mqexplorer_8004_windows_x86.zip file to this directory. On 64-bit systems uncompress the ms0t_mqexplorer_8004_windows_x86_64.zip file. 3. Double-click Setup.exe and follow the onscreen instructions. 4. MQ Explorer can then be launched using the Start Menu entry, or by using the 'MQExplorer' executable in the installation directory. Installation on Linux systems Note that in addition to the space used by the installed program, the installer uses space in the /tmp filesystem. You should allow at least 600MB for this, which will be freed after the installation is complete. To use somewhere other than /tmp, export the IATEMPDIR environment variable (before step 4 below). For example 'export IATEMPDIR=/var/tmp'. In addition, you should allow 400MB on a filesystem of your choosing for the tar.gz install image and its contents once uncompressed. 1. Create a directory on the target machine. 2. On 32-bit systems uncompress the ms0t_mqexplorer_8004_linux_x86.tar.gz file to this directory. On 64-bit systems uncompress the ms0t_mqexplorer_8004_linux_x86_64.tar.gz file. 3. Log in as root and navigate to the directory where you uncompressed the files in step 2. 4. Run the command './Setup.bin' (as root) and follow the onscreen instructions. 5. MQ Explorer can then be launched using the system menu entry, or by using the 'MQExplorer' executable in the installation directory. Silent Install mode To perform a silent installation you should first uncompress the files as described above. A response file is used to configure a silent installation. An example response file called 'silent_install.resp' is provided in the same directory as the MQ Explorer Setup program. You may use a text editor to modify this as required in line with the comments in the file. Please note - before performing a silent install, the LICENSE_ACCEPTED property in the response file must be sent to TRUE to indicate that you agree to the terms of the product license. (The license can be found in the "license" folder of the product zip file). After editing the response file, launch the silent install using the following command: Setup.exe -f silent_install.resp (on Windows) ./Setup.bin -f silent_install.resp (on Linux systems) The installation then proceeds without any feedback. Please note that if you silently install this supportpac on Windows you must also remove it silently (on Windows Vista and later) and not by using 'Programs and Features' in the contol panel. See the uninstall section below. Console Install mode To perform a console (text-based) installation you should first uncompress the files as described above. Launch the installer using the following command: Setup.exe -i console (on Windows) ./Setup.bin -i console (on Linux systems) Uninstall On Linux systems go to the installation directory and then go in the directory named '_IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer V8.0_installation' and run (as root) the application named 'Change IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer V8.0 Installation'. On Windows you can uninstall MQ Explorer using the appropriate Control Panel ('Add or Remove Programs' or 'Programs and Features'). However, on Windows UAC platforms (Vista and later) if you performed a silent installation you must also perform the uninstallation silently, by going to the directory named '_IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer V8.0_installation' in the installation directory and running the command: "Change IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer V8.0 Installation.exe" -i silent Accessibility If you require an accessible version of the installer then use the silent install mode described above. Known Issues and Limitations The installer is not fully translated. However, once installed MQ Explorer is available in the same languages as MQ Explorer from an MQ Server installation. If you see the error message 'You do not have sufficient access to uninstall IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer 8.0. Please contact your system administrator.' it is most likely because you are trying to use 'Programs and Features' to uninstall a supportpac that was installed silently. In this case, see the instructions in the 'Uninstall' section above. What to do if you see the 'IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer is already installed' dialog On Linux, if you remove the IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer by deleting the files rather by than using the provided uninstaller, you will be unable to reinstall the product at a later date. If you see this dialog, follow these instructions to get back to a clean system: 1) locate the file ".com.zerog.registry.xml" which will be found in /var (or alternately in the users home directory). -- Make a backup of this file then edit it. -- Delete the section that begins with the XML tag: '
