Mediation modules and mediation flows

Sometimes the integration logic requirements are more complex than protocol conversion, and require mediation modules made up of several types of mediation flows.

Suppose the integration developer has to provide integration logic that performs several actions:
  1. Take a customer’s stock enquiry.
  2. Log the enquiry.
  3. Check a database to see if the customer merits the Gold (instant) response, or the Silver (delayed) response.
  4. Provide an appropriate Stock Symbol.
  5. Either route the Stock Symbol to retrieve the delayed share price from a Stock Quote service, or transform the Stock Symbol and route the request to an instant Stock Quote service.
  6. Return the current stock price to the caller. It might be necessary to transform the response into a format the requester is using.

To provide the integration logic needed, the integration developer creates a specific type of SCA component called a mediation flow component.
