What is installed

The Web Services Client for C++ package, including libraries and Java tools, samples and documentation, is installed within the installation directory referred to as <inst_dir> throughout this documentation.

The following table gives an overview of the contents of each directory:

<inst_dir>

If this is a Windows installation, then this directory level contains an example axiscpp.conf configuration file, otherwise it is empty.

<inst_dir>/bin (Windows only)

If this is a Windows installation, this directory level contains the location of the Web Services Client for C++ .dlls (AxisClient.dll, and so on).

<inst_dir>/docs

The Web Services Client for C++ documentation in PDF and HTML format. The PDF version of the documentation is in the <inst_dir>/docs parent directory. The HTML version is in the html subdirectory of the <inst_dir>/docs parent directory. This subdirectory includes an index.html file for opening the HTML documentation, which is contained in a number of further subdirectories within <inst_dir>/docs/html.

The API documentation is in the api subdirectory of <inst_dir>/docs.

<inst_dir>/etc (AIX and Linux only)

If this is a non-Windows installation, then this directory level contains an example axiscpp.conf configuration file, otherwise it is empty.

<inst_dir>/include

Web Services Client for C++ header files, which are required for building web service specific generated stubs.

<inst_dir>/lib

If this is a Windows installation, then this directory level contains AxisClient.lib , which is required by the compiler when building web service specific generated stubs. Otherwise, the directory contains all of the built libraries needed for building web service specific generated stubs.

<inst_dir>/licenses  only)

Web Services Client for C++ product and prerequisite licenses.

<inst_dir>/prereqs/XML4C (Windows and UNIX only)

The prerequisite product XML4C that is shipped as part of Web Services Client for C++.

<inst_dir>/prereqs/java

The prerequisite Java jar files that are required for the WSDL2Ws tool and that are shipped as part of Web Services Client for C++.

<inst_dir>/samples

The location of the samples that accompany Web Services Client for C++.

<inst_dir>/WSDL2Ws

The WSDL2Ws Java tool, which is used to generate web service specific stubs.
