Result

You have now successfully installed Web Services Client for C++. See Configuring after installation for information about post-installation configuration that you may need to carry out next.

Configuring Web Services Client for C++ after installation

Why and when to perform this task

After installation is complete, you may need to configure the axiscpp.conf file to match your installation.

Depending on the platform, axiscpp.conf file is located in either <inst_dir> for Windows or <inst_dir>/etc for UNIX.

The following code shows the supplied default template configuration file. Note that the pathnames in this file vary according to platform.

# The comment character is '#'
# Available directives are as follows
#
# ClientWSDDFilePath: The path to the client WSDD
# SecureInfo: The GSKit security information
#

You only need to change this file if you are using handlers with your web service client application, or if you are securing your web service communications using SSL. If you are not adding handlers or SSL, you do not need to change this file.

If you are using the axiscpp.conf configuration file, you must create an environment variable that gives the location of axiscpp.conf to the AxisClient library. Regardless of platform, this variable is called AXISCPP_DEPLOY.

To carry out the post installation configuration for Web Services Client for C++, complete the following steps.

Steps for this task

  1. If you are adding handlers or SSL, configure the axiscpp.conf file as described in Developing and using client side handlers and Securing web service communications.
  2. If you are using axiscpp.conf, set the value of AXISCPP_DEPLOY to <inst_dir>. For example:
    • UNIX platforms On UNIX® platforms: export AXISCPP_DEPLOY = <inst_dir>
    • For Windows platforms On Windows platforms: set AXISCPP_DEPLOY = <inst_dir>
  3. After creating AXISCPP_DEPLOY, add the full path of the directory containing the AxisClient library to either the path or library path environment variable, depending on the operating system, as follows:
    • LINUX platforms On Linux platforms: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH :<inst_dir>/lib
    • For Windows platforms On Windows platforms: path=%path%;<inst_dir>\bin
  4. Add the full path of the directory containing the XML4C library to either the path or library path environment variable depending on the operating system as follows:
    • LINUX platforms On Linux platforms: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH :<inst_dir>/prereqs/XML4C
    • For Windows platforms On Windows platforms: path=%path%;<inst_dir>\prereqs\XML4C

What to do next

You are now ready to begin developing and deploying web service applications.

Silent install for Message Service clients

Instead of using the installation wizard, you can install the Message Service clients interactively using a response file. This is a simple text file that contains the information required by the installer. Instead of displaying a graphical user interface, the installation program reads your responses from a file that you provide.

Updates, limitations and known problems

Updates, limitations, and known problems about WebSphere ESB, including the Message Service clients, are documented in the form of technotes on the IBM Software Support Web site at http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/wsesb/support.
