Creating clusters without cluster members using scripting

Before you begin

Before starting this task, the wsadmin tool must be running. See the Starting the wsadmin scripting client article for more information.

Why and when to perform this task

Perform the following steps to create a cluster without a cluster member:

Steps for this task

  1. Identify the cell configuration ID and set it to the s1 variable:

    Using Jacl:

    set s1 [$AdminConfig getid /Cell:mycell/]

    Using Jython:
    s1 = AdminConfig.getid('/Cell:mycell/')
  2. Create a new cluster without a cluster member:

    Using Jacl:

    $AdminConfig create ServerCluster $s1 {{name ClusterName}}
    Using Jython:
    print AdminConfig.create('ServerCluster', s1, '[[name ClusterName]]')
  3. Save the configuration changes. See the Saving configuration changes with the wsadmin tool article for more information.
  4. In a network deployment environment only, synchronize the node. See the Synchronizing nodes with the wsadmin tool article for more information.
