First Failure Data Capture tool

The First Failure Data Capture tool preserves the information generated from a processing failure and returns control to the affected engines. The captured data is saved in a log file for use in analyzing the problem.

The First Failure Data Capture tool is intended primarily for use by IBM Service. The FFDC tool instantly collects events and errors that occur during WebSphere runtime. The information is captured as it occurs and is written to a log file that can be analyzed by an IBM service representative.

It runs as part of the IBM WebSphere Application Server, and you cannot start or stop it. It is recommended that you not attempt to configure the FFDC tool. If you experience conditions requiring you to contact IBM Service, an IBM Service representative can read and analyze the FFDC log.

The FFDC tool does not affect the performance of the IBM WebSphere Application Server.
