The administrative console provides online help for each page and
field. You can display hover help for individual fields, or extended help
for entire pages.
Why and when to perform this task
If you want more detailed information about a field or page on
the administrative console, you can display hover help for fields or extended
help for pages.
To display help for the administrative console, choose
from the following steps:
Steps for this task
- Display hover help for a field.
Place the cursor
over a field to view hover help about that field. The help is limited to a
few sentences, and is displayed only for about 7 seconds. If you want the
hover help to be displayed for longer, you can display the hover help in the
help portal.

If you want
to display hover help for longer, place the cursor over a field and wait for
the question mark (?) icon to appear. When the icon
appears, click the field name to display brief help about it in the help portal
on the right side of the page.
If you want to view extended information
about the field, or about the entire page and its associated tasks, click
the More information about this page link at the bottom
of the help portal.

The extended help
for a page provides more detail about the page and about the fields and controls
on the page.
To display extended help for a page, click
Help from
the console task bar to view online help in a new Web browser. From the help
browser, you can do the following:
- Browse for the topic you want to view in the Index tab. Click the link
for that topic to open it in the right panel of the browser.
- Search for a topic by specifying one or more key words in the Search tab.
All matching topics are displayed in the navigation tree; click a topic link
to view it.
To display extended help for a page, click the question mark (?)
icon on the console task bar. Otherwise, click Help on
the console task bar, then use the help browser to locate the help
Extended
help is displayed in a separate Web browser window from the administrative
console. From the help browser, you can do the following:
- Browse for the topic you want to view in the Index tab. Click the link
for that topic to open it in the right panel of the browser.
- Search for a topic by specifying one or more key words in the Search tab.
All matching topics are displayed in the navigation tree; click a topic link
to view it.
Result
You should see the list of entries in the navigation pane change
to conform to the selected task filter.
