If you want to be able to access databases and discover information about them, you create a connection to those databases. After you have set up connection information for a database, you can connect, refresh a connection, browse the objects that are contained in a connection, view an overview diagram of the objects that are contained in the connection, disconnect, and reconnect to that database. You can also edit the connection information or delete a connection.
If you are developing an application that accesses data, you create a data development project. The data development project stores your routines and other data development objects. Before creating a data development project, you need to enable workbench capabilities for database development.
If you work in a team environment, you can set up the workbench to work with CVS.
