Notes:
  1. Always check the WebSphere Message Broker Requirements Web site and the readme.html file for the latest information about supported software.

A readme file is supplied on the product DVD or CD (for runtime components and for the Message Broker Toolkit), and you can access it from the final panel of the relevant installation program. However, the files are updated occasionally; access the product readmes Web page to check that you have the latest level.

  2. WebSphere Message Broker requires the xlC runtime libraries at Version 8 or above. If you do not have an xlC or xlC++ compiler at this version installed, you must apply a PTF; information and instructions are provided in this support document.
  3. Linux (x86 platform) is supported in both 32-bit and 64-bit modes. Operating system version support is identical; you must ensure that you install the appropriate operating system for your hardware.
  4. The Message Broker Toolkit is supported on 32-bit operating systems only.
  5. On Linux (x86 platform) installations, you might require the following additional packages that are available with the operating system:
    • If you choose to install in graphical mode on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, install package compat (at version 2002.12.6.0 or later). This package is not required for console or silent installations.
    • If you want to use the package monitor (RPM), install package rpm-build.
  6. If you install the broker or Configuration Manager on this operating system, the recommended Patch Cluster level must include patches 111711-16 (32-bit) and 111712-16 (64-bit).
  7. WebSphere Message Broker is supported only in the Global zone, or in a whole root non-global zone, and must be installed separately in each.
  8. Windows operating systems are supported in 32-bit mode only.
  9. See the Program Directory for WebSphere Message Broker for z/OS or the Program Directory for WebSphere Message Broker with Rules and Formatter for z/OS for further details. In particular, review the information in "Preventative Service Planning".
