XML encoding

The encoding element is a value element and is always a child of the XmlDecl element.

The value of the encoding element is a string that corresponds to the value of the encoding string in the declaration. In the example shown below, the encoding element has a value of UTF-8.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<!DOCTYPE s1 PUBLIC "http://www.ibm.com/example.dtd" "example.dtd">
<s1>.........</s1>

You cannot specify WebSphere® MQ encodings in this element.
