Notes:
  1. Always check the WebSphere Message Broker Requirements Web site and the readme.html file for the latest information about supported software.

A readme file is supplied on the product DVD or CD (for runtime components and for the Message Brokers Toolkit), and you can access it from the final panel of the relevant installation program. However, the files are updated occasionally; access the product readmes Web page to check that you have the latest level.

  2. Start of changeYou must install WebSphere Message Broker Fix Pack 6.0.0.5 or later with HP-UX 11i v3.End of change
  3. On all Linux systems on which you plan to use Rational® Agent Controller, ensure that the X Windows libraries are installed before you install WebSphere Message Broker. If you have a 64-bit platform, you must install the 31-bit or 32-bit X Windows libraries in addition to the 64-bit libraries.

If you are installing on Red Hat Enterprise V4.0, you must also install the deprecated X Windows libraries.

All these libraries are available with the operating systems media.

  4. This operating system requires WebSphere MQ Version 6.0.2.0 or later.
  5. The Message Brokers Toolkit is supported on Linux Intel (32-bit) Red Hat Enterprise Linux V3.0, Linux Intel (32-bit) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9, and Linux Intel (32-bit) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 10 only.
  6. Start of changeYou must install WebSphere Message Broker Version 6.0.0.5 or later on computers running Linux Intel (32-bit) Red Hat Enterprise Linux V5.0 or Linux x86 (64-bit) Red Hat Enterprise Linux V5.0.

You must install WebSphere Message Broker Version 6.0.0.3 or later on computers running Linux Intel (64-bit) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9 and Linux Intel (64-bit) SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 10.

    End of change
  7. WebSphere Message Broker is a 32-bit application and requires 32-bit C and C++ libraries, which are available through the Red Hat Enterprise Linux compatibility hardware architecture runtime support options.

On Linux on x86, you might require the following additional packages, which are available with the operating system:

    • If you chose to install in graphical mode, compatibility libraries are required:
      • Red Hat Enterprise 3.0: package compat-libstdc++
      • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server: package compat (at version 2002.12.6.0 or later)
These libraries are not required for console or silent installations.
    • If you want to use the package monitor (RPM), the rpm-build package is required.
  8. On Linux on System z, WebSphere Message Broker operates in 31-bit mode on 64-bit versions. Ensure that 31-bit versions of the C and C++ libraries, WebSphere MQ, and DB2® are installed.
  9. This patch provides multithreaded malloc support on Solaris 8. It is required because the standard operating system malloc library is optimized for single-threaded applications, but the broker typically runs many threads and requires the multithreaded mtmalloc.
  10. WebSphere Message Broker is supported only in the Global zone, or in a whole root non-global zone, and must be installed separately in each.
  11. See the Program Directory for WebSphere Message Broker for z/OS or the Program Directory for WebSphere Message Broker with Rules and Formatter for z/OS for further details. In particular, review the information in "Preventative Service Planning".

Start of changeIn all operating environments except z/OS, defect support is available for virtualization environments where they relate to releases that are already supported by WebSphere Message Broker. Unless stated elsewhere in the system requirements, WebSphere Message Broker has not been specifically tested in virtualization environments. WebSphere Message Broker support is therefore unable to assist in issues related to configuration and setup, or issues that are directly related to the virtualization environment itself. End of change
