Migrating and upgrading

To migrate a broker domain to WebSphere® Message Broker Version 6.0 or WebSphere Message Broker with Rules and Formatter Extension Version 6.0, plan your migration strategy, perform pre-migration tasks, migrate your domain components, and then complete post-migration tasks.

Migration information is regularly updated on the WebSphere Message Broker support Web page with the latest details available. Look under the heading "Solve a problem" for the document "Problems and solutions when migrating".

You can migrate to WebSphere Message Broker Version 6.0 or WebSphere Message Broker with Rules and Formatter Extension Version 6.0 from the following products:

The instructions apply to all operating systems supported by the Version 2.1 and Version 5.0 products.

The tasks in this section refer to installing Version 6.0; see the Installation Guide for details of how to complete this task.

Version 5.1 Message Brokers Toolkit: if you are using the Version 5.1 Message Brokers Toolkit, follow the instructions in this section, replacing all references to "Version 5.0 Message Brokers Toolkit" with "Version 5.1 Message Brokers Toolkit".

Upgrading: You can also upgrade a broker domain from WebSphere Event Broker Version 6.0 to WebSphere Message Broker Version 6.0.

If you have WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker with Rules and Formatter Extension Version 5.0 or WebSphere Message Broker with Rules and Formatter Extension Version 6.0, you are not required to complete any additional steps to migrate the extension.

If you are already using WebSphere MQ Publish/Subscribe, migrate your applications to use the publish/subscribe functions provided by WebSphere Message Broker Version 6.0 following the instructions in this section.
