Using the Filter Dialog BoxThe Filter dialog box appears when you select View > Filter > Filter.
It filters the objects displayed in a viewer.
- 1. . Select filtering options to collect the desired objects
- 2. . Click on OK or Apply.
This action changes only the display of objects in the viewer. It does not affect the actual objects represented by the display.
You can filter objects in two ways: by name and by CM status (either Summit/CM or ClearCase, whichever you are running).
Additional information about this dialog box and filtering can be found in Using and Customizing the GUI.
Filtering Objects by Name Check Boxes and Fields
These options filter objects by file and directory names:
- Include Pattern
Displays only the objects that are specified.
- Excude Pattern
Hides all objects that are specified.
- Always Include Pattern
Displays all objects that are specified. Always takes precedence over Limit To and Exclude specifications.
The effects of Limit To and Exclude are cumulative.
Text fields have the following conventions:
- An asterisk (*) represents any group of zero or more characters. A question mark (?) represents any single character.
- The keywords file and directory restrict the types of objects to which the naming expressions apply.
- A comma (,) separates multiple specifications.
This string causes the following objects to be excluded:
.*, file *~ #*#, directory Imports Exports, Policy
- All objects whose names begin with a period (.)
- Files whose names end with a tilde (~) and those that begin and end with a pound sign (#)
- Directories named Imports, Exports, or Policy
You can not filter the current (.) or enclosing (..) directory.

- Checked Out

- Checked In
