Switch Listing Format

The switch listing contains the following information for each switch:

Column 
Meaning
Switch Name *
Name of Switch. For session switches, this is the name to use to set the switch in a UNIX command. For context switches, this is the name used in the switch file (which can be edited using the Control > Show > Switches (Apex/Summit) command)
Area
Functional area
Kind
Context, Session, or Alias
Command Type
The type of value the switch can be assigned. (such as boolean, string...)
Option
Can this switch be a command option
Default Value*
The default value for the switch
Range
Range of valid values for the switch
Definition
What the switch does
* - These fields are displayed by the Control > Show > Switches (Apex/Summit) command.

Switch Aliases

The switch listing does not include aliases. A switch alias is another name for the switch, usually a shorter name. Aliases can be used just like the switch names. You can get a list of switch aliases by selecting the Control > Show > Switches (Apex/Summit) and selecting the Show Switch Aliases option.
