Navigate > Enclosing Unit

The Navigate > Enclosing Unit command opens a window on the enclosing context of the current object. For most objects, the enclosing context is a directory. If the window is already open, the command raises the window. Use of Navigate > Enclosing Unit depends on the window in which you select the command.

Window
Action
Ada or C editor
If an Ada or C editor is open on an Ada or C spec or body, opens a Directory Viewer window containing the unit being edited. If an Ada or C editor is open on a subunit, opens a separate editor window with the enclosing unit. Can be enclosed in place.
Debugger
Opens a directory viewer containing the program currently executing.
Directory viewer
Opens a directory viewer containing the enclosing directory. Can be enclosed in place.
Other windows
Opens the directory viewer from which you opened the window.
Text editor
Opens a directory viewer containing the file being edited.

Rather than opening a separate window, you can open an enclosing window in place of the current one. You can do this only if the enclosing context is of the same type, as in replacing a directory with its parent directory. Here are two ways to enclose in place:
