Introduction

This document describes the Apex Shell scripting facilities that are available in Apex and Summit releases starting with 2.0.8.

The Apex Shell scripting language uses the standard cshell syntax and semantics. It extends cshell to provide the following additional features:

There are several places within Apex and Summit where scripts are used to control some aspect of the product. These places include:

These scripts can now be written in Apex Shell which is a language that uses the standard cshell syntax and semantics and has some extensions to provide direct access to objects within Apex and Summit and extensions to correct some deficiencies in cshell.

The Apex Shell processor comes with an xterm based debugger. The tracing facilities are extended beyond the ones in cshell. There is some integration with the text editors.
