Control > Maintenance > Set Switch (Apex/Summit)

Compile > Maintenance > Set Switch (Apex/ClearCase)

This dialog is used to view and modify Apex switches. The OK or Apply button is pressed to modify a switch.

Set Switch Dialog Box Fields

Context Field

The context field may specify a subsystem, view or configuration file for context switches. After entering a new context, type enter to display the appropriate fields for that context in the switch name list below.

When a configuration file is specified, changing the value of a switch changes the switch in all of the views or Rational Subsystems included in the configuration.

Visit Switch File Button

Visits the Switches file for the specified subsystem or view context in the editor (for direct editing of switches).

Select a switch name List Box

Displays a list of switches. The switches included in the list are affected by the following radio buttons above the list box:

Switches in context
Displays the list of context switches appropriate for the specified context (subsystem or view).
All switches
Displays all switches. Note however that a context switch can be set only if a subsystem, view or configuration (as appropriate) is specified in the Context field.

When you select a switch in this list, the switch name is placed in the Name field below. If the switch has a value in the specified context, that value is placed in the Value field below. When the context is a configuration, the value is taken from the first view in the configuration.

Name Field

The name of a switch to be viewed or modified.

After entering a new name, type enter to view the current value in the Value Field below. When the context is a configuration, the value is taken from the first view or Rational subsystem in the configuration.

If there is no value for the switch, the label not set will appear under the Value field label.

Type Label

Specifies the type of value allowed for the switch specified in the Name window. The Type is blank for an undefined switch name. The type Tokens indicates that the switch value should be a space-separated list of strings.

Default Label

Specifies the default value (if any) for the switch in the Name field.

Value Field

Specifies the existing or new value for the switch named in the Name field. The field is initialized with the existing value (if any).

"not set" Label

Indicates (when visible) that the switch in the Name field has no value.

Replacement Radio Buttons

These radio buttons indicate how the value of the switch specified in the Name field is to be changed when the OK or Apply button is pressed.

Replace Value
The existing value is to be completely replaced with the value in the Value field. An empty value may be specified to unset the switch.
Add to Value
The tokens in the Value field are to be appended to the existing value.
Delete from Value
The sequence of tokens in the Value field are to be removed from the existing value.

Switches are also described in the Programmer's Guide.
