Selecting Objects Using the Keyboard

In Normal mode (the default), when you use the (up arrow) and (down arrow) keys to move the location cursor, the current object is selected and all other objects in the window are deselected. In Normal mode, the location cursor is a solid box.

Selecting Contiguous Objects

To select a contiguous group of objects, press the Shift key while you move the location cursor with the (up arrow) and (down arrow) keys. If these objects are already selected, this action deselects them.

Selecting Discontiguous Objects

To select discontiguous objects, set the location cursor to Add mode. To do so, press Shift and F8. In Add mode, the location cursor is a dashed box.

In Add mode, moving the location cursor does not affect object selection. To select an object, place the location cursor on it using the (up arrow) and (down arrow) keys and then press Space. When you select another object, the first is not deselected.

To return to Normal mode, press Shift-F8.
