Tools > Hold Set > ApplyTools > Hold Set > Apply applies the objects in the current hold set to the target objects in the current window, executing a command.
If you select objects in the window and then select Tools > Hold Set > Apply, the operation executed by Apply affects all selected items. If no items in the current window are selected, the operation executed by Apply is performed on that window.
The operation executed when you apply a hold set to an object or set of objects is determined by the kind of objects in the hold set and the target objects. To see which operation will be executed before actually performing the operation, press Control when you select Tools > Hold Set > Apply. You are informed of the operation to be executed in one of three ways:
- A dialog box appears for the corresponding command. All parameters are filled in based on the hold-set objects and the target objects. Execute the command by clicking on OK or Apply instead of selecting Tools > Hold Set > Apply again.
- If the operation cannot be expressed in a dialog box but can be expressed as a command line, the command line is displayed in the Job Queue window.
- If neither of the above applies, a text message describing the operation that will be performed is displayed in a Message window. If the hold set cannot be applied to the target object, an error message is displayed instead.
