Debugger-State Files

The debugger looks for the following initialization files when starting a debugging session. It is not mandatory that these files exist. If they do exist, the debugger processes them.

Debugger state files can be any of the following:

Type
Description
User
The user specific state file which resides in $HOME/dbrc.
Program
The program specific state file which resides in program_name.dbrc.
User program
The user specific program state file which resides in program_name.user_name.dbrc.
Session
The session specific program state file which resides in /tmp/program_name.ppid.dbrc (ppid is the debugger's parent's process id).
Runtime
The runtime specific state file which resides in $APEX_HOME/$APEX_ARCH/LIB/target.dbrc.
File_name
Any arbitrary file name.

The state files contain debugger script commands that are read and executed by the debugger to set breakpoints, exception-handling requests, define debugger variables, type displays, and macros, and set debugger options. The syntax and semantics of this script language is fairly straightforward, and you are free to edit these files.

Note: Although you can edit these script files with a text editor, the script language is subject to change and is not supported or documented.

State files are described in detail in Using the Apex Debugger.
