Import and Export FilesImport Files
User input to the import process is maintained in the Imports subdirectory of a view or Rational subsystem. These files are updated when you execute Control > Show > Imports (Apex/Summit), Compile > Architectural Control > Imports (Apex/ClearCase), Control > Show > Exports (Apex/Summit), or Compile > Architectural Control > Exports (Apex/ClearCase).
The Imports subdirectory contains these files:
- Description.cfg
Contains the list of hierarchical explicit imports
- Mutual_Description.cfg
Contains the list of views in the same mutual-importing set
- Description.export_sets
Contains the list of export sets to use for each explicit import
Editing these text files has the same effect as executing Control > Show > Imports (Apex/Summit), Compile > Architectural Control > Imports (Apex/ClearCase), Control > Show > Exports (Apex/Summit), or Compile > Architectural Control > Exports (Apex/ClearCase).
Export Files
User input to the export process is maintained in the view's Exports subdirectory. When you execute Add Export available from the Exports Window (displayed when Control > Show > Exports (Apex/Summit) or Compile > Architectural Control > Exports (Apex/ClearCase) is selected) the unit to be exported is added to or removed from the appropriate export-description file in this directory. You can also edit the files in an editor window.
The Exports subdirectory contains all user-created export sets as well as the default export set. By default, the default export set is called all_units.exd. Any view that imports this export set has visibility to all units in the view.
Importing and exporting is described in the :Programmer's Guide.
