Keyboard CommandsUsing Keyboard Mnemonics in Windows
Every menu button has a keyboard mnemonic, identified by an underscore. In the menu, the keyboard accelerator for the File menu is F; for the New menu button, it is N, and so on.

To use a keyboard mnemonic, follow these steps:
- 1. . Select the menu by holding down the Meta or Alt key while you press the mnemonic key. To select the File menu, enter: Meta-f
- 2. . Select the menu button by pressing the mnemonic key. To select the New menu button, enter: n
Some menu buttons have keyboard accelerators that invoke the command without first opening the menu. To see those commands, click on the items in the following list:

- Default Apex Key Bindings
- Ada Editor and C++ Browser Specific Bindings
- Hold Window Specific Bindings
- Debugger Bindings

Motif Bindings
Apex supports the following Motif bindings for function keys:
Default Apex Key Bindings
Most of these bindings apply to the directory window while others, such as search, copy, cut, and undo are valid in editor windows.
Ada Editor and C++ Browser Specific Bindings
The following menu keyboard accelerators are specific to the Ada editor and C++ Browser windows.
To use this command: Press:
Child Control —— Right Arrow
Next Sibling Control —— Down Arrow
Parent Control —— Left Arrow
Previous Sibling Control —— Up Arrow
Within the editors are Editor Key Bindings that you can use to move within the window and to manipulate text.
Hold Window Specific Bindings
The following keyboard accelerators are specific to the Hold window.
To Use This Command: Press
Previous Hold Set Control-p
Next Hold Set Control -n
Debugger Bindings
