Conventions Used in Help

The following font and graphic conventions are used in the online reference:

Example
Meaning
Online Help Overview
Identifies a link to a related topic. Left-click anywhere in the blue underlined text to go to the link. The same window will be reused.
command
Identifies a command, label, file name or pathname.
term
Identifies the first time a term is used in the document. The term is usually defined in the same paragraph.
Book Title
Identifies the names of other manuals supplied with Rational Apex.
Shift
Identifies a key that you must press to initiate or complete an action.
Alt-c
Identifies two keys that you must press simultaneously to initiate or complete an action.
Close, Compile > Code
Identifies button names, tag names, menu names, menu commands, mouse commands, and dialog box field names.

Navigate Icon - Displays the Navigate dialog box called Open File, which contains controls to find and select files and directories.

Completion Icon - Automatically completes any valid but partially completed file name or directory name that appears in the associated text field.

History Icon - Allows you to move backward or forward through a history of values that have been entered in the text field associated with the icon.

Alternatives Icon - Presents a list of possible values which, if selected, will replace the contents of the associated text field.

Subsystems Icon - Helps you navigate to any subsystem that is part of a project.
