File > Edit

The File > Edit command toggles a window between read-only and edit mode. The default mode is read-only.

If the window is in read-only mode, commands that modify data in the object are inactive or gray. For example, many Edit menu commands are inactive in the language editor.

If the window is in edit mode, you can add or modify text displayed in the window. In any window that is not associated with an underlying object (such as the Main Log window), you must invoke the File > Save As command to keep any changes. In any of the other windows, you can invoke the File > Save command to keep any changes.

Select File > Edit to toggle the window between edit mode and read-only mode. When the window is in edit mode, the Edit button appears recessed. When the window is in read-only mode, the Edit button appears raised.

If you have made changes in the text and attempt to toggle the edit type from edit mode to read-only mode without saving those changes, the Save Changes dialog box appears.
