File > RunThe File > Run command runs a program from the current window. When you invoke this command, the Run/Debug dialog box appears with the Run page selected.
Run Dialog Box Fields:
Program Field
Enter the name of a program to execute.
Arguments Field (native only)
Enter any arguments to the program.
Context Field
Enter the name of the program directory.
IO Options
Select the IO Options page to redirect the input to or the output from the program. When it is selected, the following is displayed in the Options section of the Run page.

- Direct output to an output window.
Directs program output to an output window
- Direct output to an xterm.
Directs program output to an xterm window.
- Direct output to file:
Redirects the output to a file by entering the pathname for the file.
- No input redirection (the default)
Specifies no input redirection for the program.
- Get input from an xterm.
Redirect the input to be read from an xterm.
- Get input from file:
Redirect the input to be read from a file by entering the pathname .
- Direct error output to same place as output. (the default)
Direct error output to file.The default action from any window other than a debugger window is to Direct output to an output window. This option directs stderr and stdout to an Output window and does not expect any input.
The default action from any debugger window is to select the Debug and the Direct input and output to an xterm options.
Embedded Options (Apex Embedded Only)
Select the Embedded Options page to set the eecution options for Apex Embedded programs. When it is selected, the following is displayed:

- Show Elapsed Time
Print the elapsed time for running the program
- Force
Preempt the current session. If this option is used, the user whose session is currently running is preempted and receives a message similar to the following:
=> Target session has been preempted by user@system
This option is only available if Network TDM is being used.
- Verbose
- Terminate After Start
Terminate immediately after starting the program, without output and without program completion.
- Checksums
This is the default for RS232 TDM. Image blocks with checksums that match those of the VOX file are not loaded; blocks with an unmatched checksum are loaded unless Skip Download is selected.
- Profiling
Generate the profiling file (mon.out) used by the Statistical Profiler.
- Skip Download
Run the program without downloading. This option allows the running of programs that are either already downloaded or are downloaded using alternative methods.
- Time Out Duration
Stop if the program does not return after the entered number of seconds. Note that 0 indicates no timeout.
- Run Entry Point
Analysis Options
Select the Analysis Options page to set tracing options for Apex Embedded programs. When it is selected, the following is displayed:

- Trace TDM Packets (Rational Exec Only)
Dump the sent packets into a file. If TDM is being used the packets are dumped into the file from_tdm.dat. This file is readable at a very low level (i.e., the bytes of each packet are printed.)
- Collect Trace Data Check Box
Select this check box to collect task execution tracing data for the program. (Not currently available for C/C++).
