Tools > Session > Environment

The Tools > Session > Environment command enables the user to view the settings of the environment variables for an Apex session as well as change them for that session, and to make changes that will persist for future sessions. When this command is selected, the Environment dialog is displayed:

The top portion of this display contains an alphabetical listing of the environment variables and their values for the current Apex session. Environment variables are also known Session Switches in Apex.

When you start Apex with the apexinit command, it sets several session switches —— that is, environment variables —— for you, but it does not override the values of any session switches that you have already set unless you use the -reset option for apexinitt. For more information, see the apexinit manual page.

Name

Name of environment variable to modify. Note that double-clicking on an entry in the top portion of the display copies that entry to this field.

Value

New value for the selected environment variable. If the environment variable is selected by double-clicking on its entry in the displayed list, the current value of that variable is automatically displayed in this area.

Current Session Buttons

Future Session Buttons

The other three buttons on this display enable the user to set variables that will persist in future sessions.
