Model Navigator Dialog BoxThe Navigate icon to the right of the model field can help you find your required model and place its name in the model field
![]()
There are often many models to choose from when creating a new view. You can enter the model in the Model field or click on the Navigate icon to open another dialog box called the Model Navigator dialog box. This dialog displays several pull-down menus and radio boxes. It is designed to assist you in narrowing down the number of models you have to choose from.
- Native or Cross Radio Box
This radio box is only visible if cross has been enabled. If it is not visible, you are limited to native models and views.
- Select Native to create a native view.
- Select Cross to creat an embedded (that is, Rational Exec, Tornado, or LynxOS) view.
- Language Pull Down Menu
The Language pull down menu provides four options:
The language type is defaulted based on the setting of APEX_DEFAULT_ MODEL.
- Host Architecture Pull Down Menu (Native only)
The Host Architecture pull down menu provides six options.
The host architecture is defaulted based on the setting of $APEX_ARCH.
- Target Family Pull Down Menu (Cross only)
This pull down menu is visible if you select the Cross radio button in the Native or Cross radio box.
The Cross Architecture pull down menu provides the following options:
ALL Rational Exec, i386 Rational Exec, mc68040 Rational Exec, mc68060 Rational Exec, Mips1 Rational Exec, Mips2 Rational Exec, PowerPC Rational Exec, RH32 Tornado, i386 Tornado, mc68040 Tornado, mc68060 Tornado, Mips1 Tornado, Mips2 Tornado, PowerPC LynxOS, PowerPC
The default is ALL, in which case all Rational Exec, Tornado, and LynxOS models are available. Changing this pull down menu alters the contents of the Specific Target pull down menu. Selecting Rational Exec, Mips1, or Rational Exec, Mips2 activates the Endian Radio Box (described below).
- Specific Target Pull Down Menu (Cross only)
This pull down menu is visible if you select the Cross radio button in the Native or Cross radio box.
The default value is ALL, in which case all models for the current Target Family menu selection are available. When you change the Target Family pull down menu, apex recomputes the Specific Target options for the newly selected Target Family. Most of the Specific Target options identify specific boards (for example, mvme1603).
- Non-linking Models:
For Rational Exec, and Tornado, it is possible to create views where you can code, but not link. These "non-linking" views are useful if you have multiple targets, but do not wish to replicate non-linking views for each target. If you wish to create such a view, select the non-linking option from the Specific Targets menu.
- Endian Radio Box (Cross Mips only)
If the Target Family pull down menu is set to "Rational Exec, Mips1", or "Rational Exec, Mips2" the Endian radio box is activated. You then have a choice of limiting the visible models to Big endian, Little endian, or Both. Selecting Both will show big and little endian models. The default is Both.
Select OK or Apply to copy the selected model back to the original dialog.
Available Models
When you change a pop-up menu in this dialog, the list of models that meet the given criteia is re-computed and displayed in the Available Models list area.
Selected Model
Selecting a model from the Available Models list causes it to appear in the Selected Model text area. If there is only one model in the Available Models list, it is automatically entered in the Selected Model text area.
