Tools > Shadow > Copy To PC... (Apex/Summit)

The Tools > Shadow > Copy To PC command is used to transfer file(s) from the Apex view to the PC working directory. When the Controlled Files Only check box is selected, only controlled files will be transferred to the working directory. Files are made writable before the transfer and have their permissions set according to their permissions in the Apex view. If views or directories are specified and the view is a primary shadow, checked-out objects are not copied. To copy uncontrolled or checked-out files, select the Uncontrolled or Checked Out check box. In this mode, the copy will fail write permission does not exist for the target object in the working directory. If a view or directory is specified and the view is a secondary shadow, all checked-out files will be copied. If the view is a primary shadow, no objects will be copied. When it is selected, the Shadow Refresh dialog box is displayed.

Shadow Copy To PC Dialog Box Fields:

Objects to Copy To PC

List of objects to transfer from the Apex view to the PC working directory. Use the Remove, Add and Clear buttons to manipulate the list of objects in this field.

Controlled Files Only

Selecting this check box enables copying of controlled files only. Uncontrolled files are silently ignored. When selected, specifying a view or directory for a primary shadow results in the copying of all enclosed, controlled, checked in files (checked out files are not copied). Specifying a view or directory for a secondary shadow results in the copying of all enclosed, controlled files.

Uncontrolled or Checked Out

This check box should be selected when copying uncontrolled files. It can also be used when copying checked-out files. When selected, specifying a view or directory for a primary shadow results in no enclosed files being copied. Specifying a view or directory for a secondary shadow results in the copying of all enclosed, controlled, checked-out files.

Shadowing is described in detail in the Client/Server Concepts Guide.
