Debug > Step > Step Instruction

The Step Instruction command executes the current machine-level (assembly) instruction. Because more than one instruction usually is generated for a single statement, more than one Step Instruction command might need to be executed before the next statement becomes the currently executing statement. To see the associated disassembly instructions, select the Disassembly button from the Debugger window.

The Step Instruction command single-steps the program one machine instruction and steps into a called subprogram. If the program has not executed, for example, right after invoking the debugger, Step Instruction starts the program, stepping one instruction. This relocates the current position from the main subprogram to the actual starting subprogram preceding the user program...

Note: The Step Instruction command can also be executed by typing si in the Command Line Pane. If you wish to single-step one machine instruction but treat the machine call instruction as a single instruction, thus stepping over it, enter oi in the Command Line Pane. Additional information about stepping can be found in Using the Apex Debugger.
