Windows > Debugger Log

The Debugger Log command brings up the Debugger window. The Debugger Window contains four possible sub-windows: Source Pane, Command/Log Pane, Command Line Pane and Status Pane. By default, the Command/Log and Command Line Pane windows are displayed. The Source Pane and Status Pane are not displayed by default.

The Debugger Command/Log pane displays the activities associated with the debugging session.

The Debugger Command Line Pane near the bottom of the window is used to enter debugger commands through the command line interface. This interface is described in Using the Apex Debugger.

The Status Pane is displayed at the bottom of the Debugger window by selecting View > Show Status Pane in the Debugger window. The Status Pane displays the status of the program being debugged. It is not displayed by default when the debugger is invoked.

The following information is displayed in the Status Pane:

state stop_frame task_id_number file_name

The Source Pane is used to display program source text. Use of this window allows you to do all your debugger operations within the Debugger window, without using an external editor. The debugger's source display is optimized for debugging. It doesn't provide facilities for editing, compilation, or source control, for example. It does provide extra features specifically designed for debugging. For example, it contains source indicators that show where breakpoints are set.

The default display mode includes the Command/Log pane and the Command Line Pane. There are several ways to display the Source pane, either by default or once the debugger has been invoked.
