Tools > Shadow > Edit Switches (Apex/Summit)The Tools > Shadow > Edit Switches command is used to edit the shadowing-specific switches. These switches (and shadowing in general, are described in detail in the Client/Server Concepts Guide which can be accessed through the Help > Manuals command).
When Tools > Shadow > Edit Switches is selected, the Shadow Switches dialog box is displayed.
Shadow Switches Dialog Box Fields:
View
Name of the view which is to be configured (or has been configured) to use shadowing.
In this area, the following actions can be taken:
- Write files
Write new Shadow_Location and Shadowing.sw files based on the entries in the dialog box.
- Revert from files
Reread the contents of the Shadow_Location and Shadowing.sw files and update the corresponding fields in the dialog with the values from those files.
- Remove location file
MACHINE NAME
Name of the machine where the working directory resides.
PORT NUMBER
Port on which the shadow server is listening for requests.
REMOTE CONTEXT
The context to use for the working directory. The interpretation of this field is controlled by the USE_CONTEXT_AS_BASE switch.
In this area, the following actions can be taken:
- Write location file
Write a new Shadow_Location file based on the values in the dialog box for MACHINE NAME, PORT NUMBER, and REMOTE CONTEXT
- Revert from location file
Reread the Shadow_Location file and update the corresponding fields in the dialog with the values from that file.
SHADOW_KIND
Specifies the kind of shadow. Possible values are Primary and Secondary.
FLATTEN_SUBDIRECTORIES
If set to True, view sub-directories are NOT created on the shadow. Instead, files residing in sub-directories of the current view are placed in the top level directory.
DEFAULT_IS_ASCII
When set to True, the default transfer mode for files in the view is ascii.
ALWAYS_USE_ASCII
A shell style regular expression which identifies files which should always be transferred as ascii.
NEVER_USE_ASCII
A shell style regular expression which identifies files which should always be transferred as binary.
CONVERT_C_TO_CPP
If set to True, files with a .C extension are converted to use a .cpp extension on the remote machine.
USE_CONTEXT_AS_BASE
When set to True, the REMOTE_CONTEXT field is interpreted as a base directory name, to which a view name and subsystem name are appended before each object in the view.
