Rose > Reverse EngineerNote: When both Rose/Ada and Rose Developer are installed, there is an additional level to this command that designates Ada or C++.
The Rose > Reverse Engineer command builds a Rose Analyzer project file for the selected source file(s). The project file can then be used by the Rose Analyzer to insert design annotations into the source file(s) in the project, and to generate the Rose model file, namely reverse-engineering.
To build a Rose Analyzer project for a set of source file(s) in a view from an Apex directory viewer:
- 1. . Select all the source files for the project. If the view name is selected, then all the source files in this view are included in the selection.
- 2. . Click on Rose > Reverse Engineer.
To build a Rose Analyzer project for a file from an Apex editor window, simply click on Rose > Reverse Engineer.
This command (1) collects all the source files in selection, (2) brings up a Rose Analyzer server if necessary, and (3) has the Analyzer server build the selected files into a project file. The default project file is named __reverse_engineered.pjt in the view. If no source file(s) are found in the selection(s), the project file is not built.
Rose Developer is a layered product for Apex. It is described in detail in the Rose Developer User's Guide.
