Getting Rational Apex Help

This section provides instruction on how to use the Apex help system.

Using the Online Reference Index

You can get to all help topics directly from the online index. To find help on the Navigate:Visit command through the index, follow these steps:

1. . Select Help:Index.

The first page of the online index is displayed.

2. . Click on the letter V at the top of the page.

This jumps to the first page where entries beginning with the letter V appear.

3. . Click on the entry Visit command.

The Visit Command online reference page is displayed.

4. . To exit from the online help page, click on Close.


Help On Context

Rational Apex provides online help for each of the menu items in its user interface. Follow these steps to get a sample online help page:

1. . In any directory viewer window select Help:On Context.

The cursor turns into a question mark.

2. . Use the cursor to select the menu item for which you want help. For example, select Navigate:Visit.

Many of the online help pages provide additional topics that lead you to information on related commands or background information.

3. . To exit from that page when your are finished with it, click on Close at the bottom of the page.


Displaying other Online Documents

All the Apex documents are provided online for quick reference. To access them, either select the Help:Manuals command and click on the desired document.
