More on Mutual ImportingHierarchical importing can be relaxed by grouping views or Rational Subsystems (RSS) into mutual-importing sets. For Apex/Summit, a mutual-importing set is a single compilation context that is distributed across views of multiple subsystems. For Apex/Clearcase, a mutual-importing set is a single compilation context that is distributed across Rational Subsystems and Apex/Summit views.
Create a mutual-importing set in one of two ways:
- 1. . Specify that each view or RSS you want in the set has a mutual-import relationship with the other members of the set. To do this, select the Control > Add Import (Apex/Summit) or CM > Add Import (Apex/Clearcase) command. In the Import dialog box, select the Import all these views into each other radio button.
- 2. . For Apex/Summit, set the Import Each Other toggle from the Change View Properties dialog displayed when the Control > View Properties command is selected.
The members of a mutual-importing set have the following characteristics:
- A circular import relationship with all the other views in the set
- The same set of explicit hierarchical imports
- The same Compiler_Key value
A view or Rational Subsystem can be a member of only one mutual-importing set.
An import change to any member of a mutual-importing set results in a change to all members.
Mutual importing is described in more detail in the Programmer's Guide.
