File Selection Dialog Box

Filename fields in dialogs boxes have a Navigate icon that can help you find the required file and place its name in that field.

When you left-click the Navigate Icon, Apex opens another dialog box called the file-selection dialog box.

This dialog box will show the name of the source dialog box that you accessed it from. For example, if you clicked on the Navigator Icon for the Filename field in the Open dialog box, the file selection dialog box would show the name Open-Filename.

When you select a file or directory using the file-selection dialog box and click the OK button or the Apply button, the name of the file or directory you have selected is copied automatically to the Filename field of the source dialog box.

File Selection Dialog Fields:

Directory Field

The Directory field shows the complete path of the current directory. Input the path to your desired directory in this field. Use the icons to the right of the Directory field to aid in selecting the desired path. After the Directory field has been changed, you must press the Filter button to display the contents of the new directory.

Filter Check Boxes

The Filter field allows you to limit the selection of objects displayed in the Files field. A wildcard (*) is the default in the field. Input any limitations you wish to narrow the selection of objects. For example *.doc will limit the objects in the Files field to those files which end in the .doc extension.

Check boxes are provided to choose which files are displayed in the Files list according to their CM status. If NONE of the following check boxes is set, NO filtering by CM status occurs. Otherwise, only those objects that have one of the selected CM states will be included in the Files list.

After any Filter options are changed, the Filter button at the bottom of the dialog must be pressed to apply those options to the display.

Directories List Field

The Directories list field assists you in navigating to other directories. Double-clicking on a directory name will change the Directory field to that directory and change the Files list field to display the objects found in that directory, as specified in your Filter field.

To move up a directory, double-click on the double periods (..).

To redisplay the current directory, press the Filter button at the bottom of the dialog.

Files List Field

The Files list field shows the objects in a directory that match the conditions specified in the Filter field.

Filter Button

This button must be pressed, after changing the Directory field or the Filter options, in order to redisplay the Files and Directories lists in accordance with the new selections.
