Preface Rational Apex®, hereafter referred to as Apex, is a comprehensive, integrated programming environment that supports the development of complex software systems. This manual presents the specification for user commands in Rational Apex. It also includes background material that is useful in understanding the commands and their interactions.
In particular, this document includes a description of the user commands available through the UNIX shell, including creation and deletion of objects, and all configuration management and version control (Summit/CM) commands. It does not include commands specific to editors or to the graphical user interface (GUI).

- Anyone who makes design, architecture, configuration management, and testing decisions
- Software engineers and programmers
- Configuration management staff
This manual assumes you are familiar with the UNIX shell and Apex.
