Compile > Pretty PrintThe Compile > Pretty Print command is used to reformat language units by applying pretty-print switches to one or more language units, regardless of their compilation state or what editor was used on them, or when. It can be used to pretty-print a langauge unit(s) that have been modified using a different editor than the built-in Ada editor —— vi or emacs, for example. When this command is selected, the Pretty Print dialog box appears. You can also invoke the pretty printer using the icon on the top toolbar.
The pretty-printer settings are based on the values of the pretty- printer switches.
Specify the file or files to pretty-print in the Pretty Print Ada Units list field.
To set the values of pretty-printer switches from the Pretty Print dialog box, enter the names of the switches in the Options field. Enter the non-boolean switches in the form -switch_name value. To set the boolean switches to true, enter the form -switch_name or to set to false, enter +switch_name. The Options field is not case-sensitive. A list of the pretty printing switches with their default values can be found in the Programmer's Guide.
This command does not refresh the display if a pretty-printed unit is already open. The unit must be closed an reopened for the changes to take place.
In the Ada editor, @ is used as a completion wildcard. It is used to convert keywords in identifiers. In some cases where the Ada code is not correct, the pretty printer assumes that it should be completed and systematically adds an @ wildcard. This code will need to be completed before it can be analyzed.
Command Line Interface: pretty_print
