IBM Rational TestManager, Version 7.0.2 Release Notes

This document contains information about system requirements, installation, and known issues about IBM® Rational® TestManager, Version 7.0.2. It also provides information about contacting IBM Rational Software Support.

Description

This release of IBM Rational TestManager Version 7.0.2 includes fixes to the previous versions of Rational TestManager and the following:
  • Microsoft® Windows® Vista SP1 support (Vista Ultimate, Vista Enterprise and Vista Business).
  • IBM DB2® v9.1 (32 bit editions) FP 3 version support on Vista.
  • Installing IBM Rational TestManager using the Installation Manager graphical user interface (GUI).
    Note: Installation Manager provides a quick and easy method to install, modify, update, and uninstall packages.

System requirements

Rational TestManager is an open and extensible framework that unites all of the tools, artifacts, and data both related to and produced by the testing effort. You can use Rational TestManager for functional testing and performance testing.

This section details the hardware, and software requirements that must be met in order to successfully install and run your software.

Before you can install the product, verify that your system meets the minimum hardware requirements.

Hardware Requirements
Processor Intel® Pentium®
Memory Minimum: 512 MB of RAM
Disk space

Minimum: 500 MB of disk space is required for product package installation. Additional disk space is required for the resources that you develop.

Display 1024 x 768 resolution minimum using 256 Colors (or higher for best results)
Other hardware Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP4 , running on 32-bit processors (IA-32)
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP1, SP2, SP3, running on 32-bit processors (IA-32)

  • Microsoft Windows Vista (Vista Ultimate, Vista Enterprise and Vista Business)

Installing Rational TestManager, Version 7.0.2

Rational TestManager version 7.0.2 cannot be installed on a computer on which previous versions of Rational TestManager is installed. All previous versions of Rational Suite® products must be uninstalled before attempting to install Rational TestManager version 7.0.2.

The following steps briefly describes the installation of Rational TestManager 7.0.2.
  1. Download all required parts for the product image from IBM site to a temporary directory.
  2. Extract the installation image from the downloaded file and verify that the installation image is complete.
  3. Start the launchpad program. When you are ready to begin the installation, click Install IBM Rational TestManager.
  4. IBM Installation Manager is launched with Rational TestManager selected. If IBM Installation Manager is not installed on your system or if an older version of IBM Installation Manager is installed, in addition to the selected Rational TestManager, the entry for IBM Installation Manager is also selected. Click Next to continue.
  5. On the Licenses page, read the license agreement for the selected package. If you agree to the terms of all of the license agreements, click I accept the terms of the license agreement. Click Next to continue.
  6. On the Locations page, type a path for the installation directory or accept the default path. You can also browse to select the path. Click Next to continue.
  7. On the Features page, select the package features that you want to install. To provide basic web execution for manual test cases, Click ManualTest Web Execution. Click Next to continue.
  8. On the License page, type the TCP/IP port and the host name of the Rational common licensing server if the license server is set up. You can configure the license after you install the product using the Rational License Key Administrator.
  9. On the Summary page, review your choices before installing Rational TestManager package. If you want to change the choices that you made on previous pages, click Back and make your changes. To see the repository, click Repository Information. When you are satisfied with your installation choices, click Install to install the package. A progress indicator shows the percentage of the installation completed.
  10. When the installation process is complete, a message confirms the success of the process.
Rational TestManager 7.0.2 installation is the same as Rational Robot 7.0.2. For more information see Installation Guide for Rational Robot 7.0.2. Typical installation scenarios you might follow:
  • Installing from an electronic image on a shared drive.
  • Installing from a downloaded electronic image on your workstation.
  • Installing from a repository on an HTTP or HTTPS Web server.

Fixes contained in this release

This release contains fixes for the following defects:

PK69525 Application error; failure while getting test inputs from data store from using TestCasePropPageRelatedAssets.
PK12394 Open Script Dialog is case sensitive with DB2 test project.
PK70191 The product documentation does not contain information on assigning rights.
PK74789 Inconsistent query results when running test plan execution .
PK72719 Error message 'Could not generate a defect' is displayed while you submit a defect from Rational TestManager into Rational ClearQuest.
PK71310 Rational TestManager "Verification Point History" report is blank.
PK70690 CallScript command issues an error. CallScript function is case-sensitive.
