For Users of NT Version 3.5 or 3.51 and ClearCase 2.0 and 2.02

Upgrading from NT 3.5 to 3.51 for ClearCase 2.0 and 2.0.2

Upgrading from NT Version 3.5 to NT Version 3.51 when running ClearCase requires a small amount of care.

There are four possible combinations:

  1. NT Version 3.5 running ClearCase Version 2.0. Supported.
  2. NT Version 3.5 running ClearCase Version 2.0.2. Supported.
  3. NT Version 3.51 running ClearCase Version 2.0. Not supported -- system crashes.
  4. NT Version 3.51 running ClearCase Version 2.0.2. Supported.

Here is the procedure for upgrading from Combination #1 to Combination #4:

  1. Move the ClearCase MVFS driver out of the way with a command like the following:

    c:\ > move %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\mvfs.sys %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\mvfs.old

  2. Install Windows NT Version 3.51

  3. Install ClearCase 2.0.2 for Windows NT

Here is the procedure for upgrading from Combination #2 to Combination #4:

  1. Install Windows NT Version 3.51

  2. Re-install ClearCase 2.0.2
