Subject: Technical Bulletin #24
If you have installed ClearCase Release 3.1.1 on a 64-bit IRIX system, Rational Engineering urges you to return those systems to ClearCase Release 3.0.1 while a corrected version of ClearCase Release 3.1.1 is being prepared for this platform. You must return MultiSite Release 3.1.1 to Release 3.0.1 as well.
If you plan to install Release 3.1.1 on a 64-bit IRIX system, please wait until the new version is available.
If you upgraded from Release 2.1, please remove Release 3.1.1 and install Release 3.0.1. You cannot go back to Release 2.1.
You must call Rational Customer Support before making this change back to Release 3.0.1.
This problem stems from code generated by the SGI C compiler (7.1), which was used to build ClearCase for this platform. Rational is working with SGI to correct the problem.
There is no data loss associated with this problem. This problem does not affect any other systems running ClearCase; it does not affect 32-bit IRIX systems.
Rational is preparing a fix for the problem. If you are running ClearCase on a 64-bit IRIX and have upgraded to Release 3.1.1, please contact Rational Customer Support.
If you have any questions regarding the situations discussed in this Technical Bulletin, please contact Customer Support at support@rational.com or (781) 676-2450 in Massachusetts or 31-23-569-4310 in the Netherlands.
