UPDATE: Technical Bulletin Number #34

TO: All Sites Using MultiSite 3.2.x and MultiSite 4.0
FROM: Customer Support
DATE: 4/3/2000
SUBJECT: Technical Bulletin Number 35

Compatibility Between MultiSite 3.2.x and MultiSite 4.0

If you use MultiSite and want to upgrade to Release 4.0, you do not have to upgrade all replica hosts at the same time. Existing replicas hosted on systems that are upgraded to MultiSite 4.0 can synchronize with existing replicas on systems running MultiSite 3.2.1 or 3.2. For more information, see ClearCase Feature Levels in the ClearCase MultiSite Manual.

There are compatibility restrictions on creating replicas. You cannot create a replica on a Release 3.2.1 or Release 3.2 host from a replica-creation packet created on a Release 4.0 host. If you want to create a new VOB family with replicas on Release 3.2.x and Release 4.0 hosts, the original VOB must be located on a host running Release 3.2.1 or Release 3.2.

NOTE: When you import a Release 3.2.x replica-creation packet on a Release 4.0 host, the mkreplica -import command prints a Version mismatch warning. This message does not indicate a problem with replica creation.
