Tru64 Patches Cause System Crash When Using Non-ClearCase Access

Rational has discovered that two recently released patches for versions 5.1 and 5.1A of the Compaq Tru64 UNIX operating system cause Tru64 UNIX hosts running export views for non-ClearCase access to crash when the exported VOB/view pair is accessed by a non-ClearCase client. The following Tru64 UNIX patch kits and patches are known to cause this problem:

• Tru64 UNIX V5.1A Patch Kit 3, Patch 846.00
• Tru64 UNIX V5.1 Patch Kit 5, Patch 921.01

Rational is investigating the problem, which is logged as defect CMBU00066914, and will distribute the necessary fixes in a ClearCase patch as soon as possible. Until then, sites using Tru64 UNIX to export views for non-ClearCase access should not apply either of the Tru64 UNIX patches that are known to cause this problem. If you have already applied the patch, contact Compaq (Hewlett-Packard) technical support for help in removing it.
