Scope

The patch described in this document affects the RequisitePro client only. This patch includes fixes delivered in all previous Service Releases.

Hardware/Software Information

No changes from base release.

Installation Information

To install the patch, perform the following steps:

1.      Manually back up the existing requisitepro.exe file, the RqDatatransportWiz.exe, and the rqprores.dll files that the patch will overwrite. It is important that you backup these files by copying them to another location. Renaming the files or removing them will cause the installation to fail. The default location for all these files is the [drive]\Program Files\Rational\RequisitePro\bin directory. Complying with this directive will ensure that you can quickly restore your system in the event that a failure occurs while you are installing the patch.

2.      Ensure that RequisitePro is not running. Run the RequisitePro2001a.04.03.293.001.exe file.

3.      Start RequisitePro. The patch is installed. The new RequisitePro User's Guide (requisitepro_using.pdf) can now be found in [installation folder]/Rational/doc. The default installation location is C:\Program Files\Rational\doc, but if you have installed to a custom location, the RequisitePro2001a.04.03.293.001.exe file will locate the doc folder and install the User's Guide there automatically. If you are working in a team environment, you may copy the document to a more convenient location on your network later.

Defects Fixed in this Release

Defect 15992: A defect in the Database Transport Wizard (RqDatatransportWiz.exe) causes the loss and/or truncation of data contained in specific database tables when moving projects from Microsoft Access to SQL Server.

Defect 15649: A defect prevents the importation of requirements within a Word document into RequisitePro under certain configuration conditions.

Defect 19135: (SR2) An incorrect version of the RequisitePro User's Guide was delivered on the Documentation CD-ROMs included with RequisitePro and Rational Suite software packages.

Defect 18756: (SR2) Word 2002 (XP) translates Universal Naming Convention (UNC) file names differently than Word 2000 or Word 97. Users saving documents in RequisitePro using Microsoft Word 2002 receive an error message when saving to a network location using UNC notation. The error reads "Microsoft Word: Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere. [network path of document]." This error condition prevents the user from saving changes to the document and causes possible data loss.

Defect 15002: (SR1) A defect in the Database Transport Wizard (RqDatatransportWiz.exe) causes the loss of saved queries when users transport existing databases to databases of other types, such as from Access to Oracle, or between instances of the same type.

Files Changed by this Release

The RequisiteProService Release 2001a.04.03.293.001 contains one self-extracting executable file named RequisitePro2001a.04.03.293.001.exe. Running this file replaces the requisitepro.exe file, the RqDatatransportWiz.exe, and the rqprores.dll files. It creates a new requisitepro_using.pdf file in the [installation folder]/Rational\doc
