Please note the following last minute release notes for Rational Purify, Rational Quantify, Rational PureCoverage, and Rational PurifyPlus for UNIX, version 2002.05.00. This document contains the following notes:
  1. Installation
  2. Rational PurifyPlus Licensing
  3. Solaris Patch Incompatibility

1. Installation

(a) During product installation, after accepting the license agreement, you will be presented with the following menu for selecting which product(s) to install:

PurifyPlus and DeveloperTools Configurations:
--> 1)  Rational PurifyPlus (Solaris)
    2)  Rational PurifyPlus (HP-UX)
    3)  Rational PurifyPlus (Solaris and HP-UX)
    4)  Rational DeveloperTools (Solaris)
    5)  Rational DeveloperTools (HP-UX)
    6)  Rational Purify (IRIX 6.x)
    7)  License setup only - Rational products not listed above
    ...
Select one of options 4-6 if you are installing (and have a license for) one or more of the individual products Rational Purify, Rational Quantify, or Rational PureCoverage for UNIX.

Select one of options 1-3 only if you are installing (and have a license for) Rational PurifyPlus for UNIX.

(b) On the Licensing Options Menu of rs_install, select '1' ("Use an existing Rational license file") if you are upgrading an existing installation of the same products. Your existing licenses will work with this upgrade.

2. Rational PurifyPlus Licensing

Rational PurifyPlus licensing requires the setting of an environment variable by all users. The installer will create two files at the top level of the installation directory to help initialize your environment:
rational_dir/purifyplus_setup.csh
rational_dir/purifyplus_setup.sh
All users of the product must source or execute one of these files to initialize their environment to use Rational PurifyPlus. Failure to do so will cause a license checkout failure when you attempt to use the product. See the "Installing and Getting Started..." guide in this distribution for more details. After installation, this document will be located in:
