1.0 About this release

This release contains updates for the version 7.1 release of IBM Rational® License Server for Windows®.
Daemon versions for this release:
  • lmgrd.exe 11.5
  • ibmratl.exe 11.5
  • rational.exe 11.5
Rational License Server Version 7.1, and later, is backward compatible with client products that use Rational Common Licensing from earlier releases. Support for serving license keys to clients which have installed Rational Product version 2003.xx is included.

1.1 New in this release

IBM Rational License Server provides support for IPV6 for the following platforms:

The minimum value for TIMEOUT and TIMEOUTALL is 30 minutes (1800 seconds)

2.0 Installation information

This section describes the installation requirements and specific installation instructions for this release on Microsoft® Windows operating systems. For information about installing IBM Rational License Server, Version 7.1 and administering license servers, license keys, and Rational Common Licensing, see the topic Managing licenses with Rational Common Licensing in the Rational ClearCase® Version 7.1 or Rational ClearQuest® Version 7.1 Info Centers:

There are no additional processor or memory requirements for installing this release.

2.2 Software requirements Operating system

The following Windows operating systems are supported for this product:

The Windows server must have a C:\ drive.

You must have Windows administrator privileges on the local computer.

2.4 Installation instructions for Windows

Use the IBM® Installation Manager to install the Rational License Server on Windows. Information on installation is available in the Rational ClearCase Version 7.1 or Rational ClearQuest Version 7.1 Information Centers:
To download Rational License Server Version 7.1:
  1. 1. Go to the IBM site for Rational support, Downloads and upgrades: http://www.ibm.com/software/rational/support/upgrades/index.html.
  2. Locate Rational License Server in the product name list, and then click the Continue link.
  3. Depending on how you purchased your software and your maintenance agreement, select a link to Passport Advantage® Online, IBM Software Group OEM portal, or the Rational Product Release area.
  4. Select Rational License Server Version 7.1 eAssembly and follow instructions for download.
  5. Extract the compressed file in an appropriate directory. For example, choose to extract to C:\temp.
To install:
  1. Log in as a user with administrator rights on the local computer on which you want to install the product.
  2. In the location where you extracted the release, double-click install.exe.
  3. The IBM Installation Manager opens.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Select IBM Rational License Server Version 7.1.
  6. Click Next.
  7. The default shared resources directory is C:\Program Files\IBM\IMShared. Click Next to accept the default directory or make changes to the directory location then click Next.
  8. The default installation directory is C:\Program Files\IBM\RationalSDLC. Click Next to accept the default directory or make changes to the directory location then click Next.
  9. Select additional languages to install.
  10. Select License server for IPv4 network or License Server for IPv6 network.
  11. Click Install.
Note: Install the floating license keys on the license server before you start the license server. For information on installing floating license keys, see the IBM Rational License Management Guide.

2.5 Uninstalling Rational License Server

To uninstall:
  1. Log in as a user with administrator rights on the local computer on which you want to install the product.
  2. Open IBM Installation Manager
  3. Click Uninstall
  4. Select IBM Rational License Server Version 7.1.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Uninstall.

  • The same Rational License server can provide both temporary and permanent keys for the same Rational product.
