Answer:
By right clicking in the module toolbar, it is possible to select Formatting and Export which will restore the missing buttons.

All,

I just started using DOORS 8.3 and notice that certain buttons are missing, such as the indent and outdent buttons, and the Word export buttons.

The word export can be gotten to by the file menu, but indent and outdent seem to have no menu item that I can find. I had imported a Word document and some paragraphs where indented and there was no way I could outdent them.

So my two questions: Am I missing something and are these buttons restored in DOORS 9?

Thanks!

I know you can remove buttons in 8.3.

I knew I had to be missing something. Wow, right-clicking a menubar! I would have *never* thought of something so simple within DOORS. Shows you how long I've been using it.

Why would the formatting menu be hidden by default? What a terrible design decision, but at least I learned something because of it.

It wasn't missing by default here. You sure your companies default wasn't to have it off?

Do you know where would that default setting would exist?

There are two separate databases here, and on both of them, the formatting toolbar was set to not be shown. Changing the setting for myself in one did not change the setting in the other.

Interesting. I thought client changes happened regardless of the database you're logging into. No I don't know where it exists.

In your database directory there is a subdirectory path

conf\u100000x.dir\dialog+AF8-defaults\

where u100000x is the user ID. This directory contains plenty of different files, also toolbar layout files. All these are in the DOORS database format (*dtb / *.dtc) so it is not possible to view the content. But yes, the toolbar layout is database specific.
