We are have been unable to restore modules archived with 9.1 into 8.3. I was hoping someone might be dealing with this issue too and have some workarounds for working in 8.3 with 9.1 modules.
We tried exporting to a csv and then importing and updating our 8.3 module, but could not get the unique identifiers to match up. Thanks in advance for any advice. Grant Rhodes |

Major DOORS versions have different database and archive structures, i.e. v8.0 and v8.3 have the same database and archive structure that's different than v9.
Archives are not backward compatible. They coded v8 to understand v7 structure, but they did not code v8 clients to be able to understand the future v9 archive structure. Thus, you cannot restore an archive TO an earlier release, but you can restore an archive FROM an earlier release. Don't know what to think about CSV coordination, but generally that means updating an existing module and existing objects with information from the spread sheet, where the spread sheet's 'Identifier' or 'Absolute Number' column is used as the 'key' to matching up objects. No, you cannot use that 'key' as a mechanism for creating new objeccts with that exact number, such as importing a spread sheet into an empty module. - Louie |
