We are being provided a set of modules in a read-only partition that we are importing into our DOORS project. We then have our own set of elaborated requirements that we link back to the customer requirements.
What we want is for the customer to provide an updated set of modules and be able to work out the differences to the ones we have. The Compare Module option cannot be used as we cannot open the new module in exclusive edit mode, as it is a read-only partition. Ideally we want to maintain links to objects not updated to save re-linking.

Any suggestions on how to do this?

Hi Richard,

have you already spent some investigation in "DOORS Exchange"? Ask your Telelogic representative.

Hubertus

Hi Richard,

it seems you have a profound problem. The idea of Hubertus is a quite good one, because DOORS eXchange is a tool to exchange modules between DOORS databases, and particularly to update an existing copy of a module to its actual status. In doing this, eXchange also marks the changes from the earlier version of your customer's module to the most recent one.

And what is more: the links you have drawn from your modules to the copies of your customer's modules are kept, which means you don't have to redraw the same links once more.

The prerequisite for the use of eXchange, however, is that you have RMCD access to the copies of your customer's modules, as eXchange, of course, actually performs changes in those modules.

So ask your customer if he is willing to open the write access on the modules delivered to you; you should assure, however, that only a very small groups of persons (may be your DOORS admins, if you have) will have the RCMD access.

Couls I help you a little?

Regards
Toni
