Hello,

We are trying to use the Doors.dot file from within Word and we keep getting an error that states "The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro settings". Macro security settings are set to low and the Macro itself is located where it should be. It seems as though other Macros run. I tried using serveral Doors.dot files and none of them worked.

We are currently running Windows 2000sp4 and Word 2000, anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?

I remember having this one, I think opening the doors.dot file manually then trying to install it from the "Tools -> Templates and Addins" in the relevant document while doors.dot was still open worked for me, can't remember why it failed in the first place.

Be sure to use the Doors.dot file that came with your DOORS install, located in "...\DOORS 7.1\lib\word" for me. It needs to be copied to some default Word location, in my case is "c:\Documents and Settings
landalo\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\doors.dot". It seems to me there should be some common location on the disk for this, maybe someone will tell me where.

If your client runs more than one version of DOORS then you need to use two Doors.dot files. You'll need to remember which one you installed first since you'll see two "export to Doors" commands in your MS-Word Tools menu. I'd name each appropriately, Doors-v71.dot, Doors-80.dot and Doors-81.dot, but that won't help distiniquish them in the menu.

Before MS Office XP there was only one 'Office' folder under "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office" and you would just need to make sure a copy of the doors.dot was placed in the "Office\startup" folder to have the Export to DOORS feature working in MS Word.
Now there are at least two 'Office10' and 'Office11' and with the advent of Office 2003 both have a 'Startup' folder. Make sure you have a copy of the doors.dot in the "STARTUP" folder under "Office11". Sometimes it sees it right away and sometimes I've had to log off and log back on in order for it to see it and work (you shouldn't have to reboot but couldn't hurt). Like Louie stated please make sure you are using a copy of the doors.dot from the version of DOORS you're currently running- found in the Word folder under
DOORS8\lib\word
Hope this helps
Sharon

Wether doors.dot or a shortcut to doors.dot should be located in Word's "startup" folder.

either :
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\STARTUP
(for all user)

or, for a specific user, depending on the version of Windows :
C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
C:\WINNT\Profiles\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

This path can be modified inside doors with the menu tools->option, change the value of "startup" inside "file locations"

With Word 2000, security should be set to "medium" or lower as doors.dot is not signed. (menu tools->macro->security)
