I am getting the following error with WEXP in DOORS 9.1. This does not occur with DOORS 7.1

-E- DXL: <addins/WEXP/include/global.inc:1> badly formed token (EOF)
Included from:
<addins/WEXP/include/wexpload.inc:9>

Can anyone help?

Thanks

DOORS 9.1 has differnt encryption algorithm so old encrypted files will not work.

Yeah Telelogic announced that they are getting rid of WEXP and replacing it with the Telelogic Documentation Toolset or something like that. I'm not sure if its already out or when it comes out. Was supposed to be a lot better and will allow you to migrate to it though.

I guess I missed out on some key information since I didn't go to UGC this year. Thanks for the update.

Actually, Rob, you didn't have to go to UGC.

Rob, would you mind going ahead and submitting an "unencrypt WEXP" request?

Telelogic Publishing Engine was released on 5th December 2008, see the downloads section on the support site.

TPE is the successor to DocExpress and can generate documents significantly faster than DocExpress or Wexp ever could.

David,

I don't know if it was intentional by Telelogic or not, but that link I provided should go here. Was this intentional, or just yet another forum bug we keep running in to (and mostly on my posts at that).

Neal,

If TPE is really as great as you claim, customers will flock to it. No one answered my question in the other thread, so I ask you--if customers still want to choose to use WEXP, why not release it unencrypted and disavow any support for it? Further, by having yet another add-on, IBM/Telelogic is kind of admitting that yeah, DocExpress was not a great program, and DOORS ships with gimped exporting options out of the box. A friend of mine played around with Serena Requirements Composer and its XML export to Word looked way better than I could accomplish in DOORS out of the box....

At least, that's my opinion.

Still, I'd like an answer to the question. WEXP is obviously used and useful, regardless of IBM/Telelogic's opinion of it.

WEXP is very much alive and supported by Telelogic via DOORS TREK.
It is currently at version 12.5

To obtain a copy of supported WEXP which will run on 9.1, buy a DOORS TREK licence via your account manager. It is a lot cheaper than a DocExpress licence.

TREK is going to be supported by IBM as it is heavily used in Europe and dropping it will alienate large organisation such as EADS and Thales.

I am hopeful that TPE will at last provide a capable out-of-the-box Word Exporting solution for DOORS. What gripes me, is that we use Enterprise Architect ( UML ) ( http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/ ) which cost $300 and yet the Word Exporting from this is vastly superior to DOORS which costs 10x the price plus we have to pay EXTRA for an exporter which produces documents of suffient quality to meet our Corporate standards.

Maybe if TPE is another white elephant like DocExpress, the DXL Community could develop its own open-source DOORS Export solution?

The old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind!

I have hundreds of documents configured for export using WEXP and migration to any other tool even if TPE is better, would take a huge amount of time and effort for no gain.

If anyone has a copy of WEXP for DOORS 9.1 then this should be published here for everyone to use.

In a perfect world Telelogic could publish un-encrypted WEXP code in the DXL Utilities section and note that it is an unsupported script ... the everyone could hack it as they want and support it on their own.

Dave,

Can you "pull" WEXP out of TREK? As in, can you find out where WEXP is installed and make it available to any user?

Also, is there a version of TREK for 9.1? I am VERY disappointed at how IBM has handled this 9.1 upgrade. I use a QC integration at one of my clients and they released the QC integration a month after DOORS 9.1! This leads me to believe (or rather, I want to believe) that other integrations/add-ons were treated the same way.

Yes, it would be possible to extract WEXP out of TREK and just have it available to Users without the rest of TREK. It is installed in its own directory, as the original JD WEXP was done. The latest version has a server option, whereby WEXP can be run remotely for a User. This overcomes a lot of the performance issues with Client-based WEXP.

Attached is the User guide.

TREK is fully supported by IBM and there is a road-map for its development, so no doubt there will be a 9.1 version released and therefore a 9.1, supported version of WEXP available as an alternative to TPE.
