hi
i have a query regarding restricting permissions for baselining. Any one with modify permissions can baseline a module but I would like to stop this. I need users to have modify permissions to add and edit modules but i dont want them baselining modules. is there anything to restrict access? can you set permission on the server or anything?

thanks

arlene

You can modify the client installation, such that either the baseline menu does not appear or the menu item points to a stub that perhaps provides a message to user that baselining is not permited from the client.

Aye....To comment further on Ron's suggestion:

You'll need to modify the formal.dxl file for all your clients. I've done something similar to this for some of the other menu options. What I do is create a group that is allowed to do the function, in this case a "Baseline Group". Assign the users that are allowed to create the baselines to that group, and the make the menu available to only those users.

The attach code screws up the formatting, but you should find the baseline functions around line 120 in the formal.dxl file. You'll want to ecapsulate the createItem call for the New baseline function like so:
