Has anyone installed DOORS Training databases in the DOORS / Citrix environment?
If you have, how did you proceed?

Thanks

Alain

We use citrix exclusively here.

We have one machine with the database, and a different one for citrix. It seems to work Ok, there are some issues to work out however, like printing, word/application integration, etc.

What specific questions do you have?

How do you set things up so that everybody has their own training database to work in?

I do not have the option of placing a training database on everybody's PC. Everything has to be done on one server (where Citrix and DOORS reside together).

Thank you.

We archived out the training project to disk. (Via archive.) We then created a "Sandbox" project. Inside the sandbox project we restored the archived project, with the name of the user. So the hierarchy would look like:

Sandbox
-> John Doe
-> Jane Doe
-> Mickey Mouse

(The arrows indicate children.)

In a typical configuration (DOORS client on your PC while accessing the DOORS server), the training DB is loaded locally. Thus, somebody elses training doesn't affect you. On Citrix there is only one Client and you won't be able to do it. Mellinger may have a solution where each user gets his own Training project, but I suspect there will be problems with the name of the Projects.

This was the recommended configuration by our traing Gary Layton, and seemed to work well throughout the training. He didn't have any trouble training any features except Word Export and TestDirector integration because we didn't have those on the Citrix server.
