There really isn't a "rule of thumb" for allocating disk space on a server. There are too many variables to come up with that. On the other hand the one thing that telelogic seems to do well is keep the databse to a manageable size. If you put the database on a server with 30-50GB you should have plenty of space. I personally have some 20k-30k items and at last check my database only took 13GB.

We will soon be installing DOORS on a new server and would be grateful for any guidelines or rules-of-thumb used when allocating disk space for the database.

DOORS databases use surprisingly little space on the scale of thing s today.

I recommend having the database on a partition at least twice the size of you doors database - this is required for archiving.
