Turns out the symptom described above was only occurring in a couple of documents so I was finally able to track down the cause.

*drum roll*

The lack of a carriage return between the object and the following text. Inserting a simple carriage return after the objects resulted in a clean import.

I expect this has come up before, but here goes...

When I import my Word Doc into DOORS via the standard Word Export to DOORS button, Word generated tables that I converted (in the Word doc) to "Microsoft Word Document Objects" are showing up as two items. One is a static picture (cannot activate it) that looks like I'd expect the table to look, the other is right above and is an equally sized blank box that activates as the table and is editable when I double-click it.

Anyone have any idea what is going on here? MS Excel Worksheet Objects in the same doc import perfectly.

This is in the 8.1 client.
