Hello and thanks in advance for your help.
How do I change where a client points to for the data server?
We got a new Sun server and I moved the dataserver from Sun1 to Sun2. The new installation on Sun2 is working just fine. I have two clients on PC that point to Sun1. I want the clients to point to Sun2 how do I change that?
Thank you,
Thomas L. Gossard

There's a registry key HKLM\Software\Telelogic\DOORS\7.0\Config\Data containing the port number and server name on the format port@hostname.

Thank you. I will try this, though I must say I would have thought telelogic would have made it changeable through their configuration routines so a user wouldn't have to edit the registry. Just a note for future releases.

The command line switch "-d" may be used...this overrides the registry setting, thus allowing the registry value to remain static.
For example, I have a shortcut to DOORS on my desktop that has as a target: "C:\Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS 7\bin\doors.exe" -d 36677@doorprod1 See Configuring DOORS->Summary of command line switches in the DOORS User Manual for details of switches. Edited: 3-May-2005 at 16:17 by Antonio Norkus |

Right. Use this extra Icon method when your client needs to use more than one database, such as the live one on the network and also the local one on your machine for testing.
For a permanant change, you can change the registry or you can also reinstall DOORS. - Louie |

You can do it via the DOORS ERS configuration tool (in the start menu with DOORS). Essentially it is just editing the registry, but it has a user interface to make it slightly easier.

I doubt whether Mario's syntax will work, if it doessn't, this does:-
"C:\Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS 7.1\bin\doors.exe" -data "36677@ Ewen Miller QinetiQ |
