I have a formal module for which, when right-clicking on an object for the floating menu, I can see the Insert-> menu item, but both the "Object" and "Object Below" options are greyed out.

The module has been opened for editing, both Module and Object properties indicate that I have RMCDA access, and the access is "Inherit from parent". The problem is only on this module, all others are fine, even those which inherit their access rights from the same parent.

I'm using an Admin account set up by the Administrator (hence the RMCDA access).

Can anyone point me at where I need to be looking to figure out why I cannot edit an object on this module?

Some questions to try and tie this one down...

Do you have a sort applied in the module? You cannot add a new object when there is an active sort.
Does any other user have the same problem?
Does it say 'Exclusive Edit' at the bottom of the window?

Hi. Good questions! I hadn't even thought of the sort issue.
Anyway, according to Tools->Sort, the Sort List is empty, so I think not.
All users have the same problem.
It says 'Exclusive edit mode'.

Sorry - just read the question again - I can't think of anything else at the moment.

A few ideas:

It could be a trigger: Try deleting all the triggers for the module

These things are usually down to a sort being applied in my experience (as Hazel suggests), make sure its definately not this by trying to insert an object when in the "standard" view.

Have a look at your access rights for the module by clicking on the module in the database windows and going to the access tab, your access rights will be displayed in the middle. If they aren't as you expect maybe you have two almost identical groups and are in the wrong one.

If all else fails log in as THE "Administrator" and set all the access rights for objects and attributes to inherited

If all that fails archive and restore the module somwhere else and see if the problem still applies

I've never used triggers myself, although I'm aware of one or two others using them on  our project, but a quick DXL loop shows that there are none in the project, assuming this is adequate...
Trigger t
for t in current Project do    print name(t) "\n"

When in the Standard view, I CAN insert an object, good spot.
As I said before, Tools->Sort->Advanced has an empty sort list, but I have just noticed that Tools->Sort indicates the Current sort to be "Ascending Absolute Number". How do I remove this? It's okay, I figured it out.

Thnks to all who replied. Funny how one person's accidental keypress can be so annoying :-)
