I'm trying to use the DOORS Interface in Rhapsody, and when I try to export to DOORS, Rhapsody will run DOORS, but then it will report an error: "Could not start DOORS dxl server". Does anybody know how to fix this, or what the problem is??

Thanks a lot!!

It's a while since I did this, but I think the problem is related to the way Rhapsody works out where the DOORS server is. It can only access the DOORS server that's set in the registry. Could this be part of your problem? It's worth checking...

Paul.

Never used Rhapsody, so I don't know how the integration works.

However, from the error you are getting, I suggest that you read chapter 3 of the Doors API manual, entitled "Using the DXL Server". That might give you a few pointers.

I played with the registry, and that doesn't seem to be the problem. I have gone through the DOORS API Manual and tried initializing the DXL Server by running the following command in the MS-DOS Prompt:

C:\Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS_8.1\bin>dxlips "initDXLServer server 5093"

However, I get the following output/error

portno = 5093, host = 127.0.0.1
API error: could not connect to "127.0.0.1:5093": No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Does anybody know how to fix this??

Before using dxlips you'll need to start the DXL server from a DXL window in DOORS, as below.

Reference api.txt in the api subdirectory of your DOORS installation

Hope this helps,
Jordan

You can run this by inserting this code into the line that initiates doors:
-dxl "initDXLServer server 5093"

Thus, it may look like this: c:\Doors\bin\doors.dxe -u MyUser -P MyPassword -dxl "initDXLServer server 5093"

- Louie

if "-dxl" doesn't work, try "-cli".
