>> put( args , "ModificationDate" )
>> oleGet( oTestPlan , "PropertyValue", args , sTemp )

I am trying to pull a property value from TestManager via COM automation and when I try to get the ModificationDate DOORS complains with the following error:

Method 'PropertyValue' returned type '7', which is not handled by DOORS (only string, char, bool, int and IDispatch supported)

Any ideas or hints as how I can get DOORS to treat the value as a string would be greatly appreciated!

TIA
Chris

I don't think you'll be able to through the COM interface with DOORS. I've had this issue with Excel since it likes to auto-format things.

To ensure a value is handled as a string in excel, include a tic mark infront of the string

example: s="'07/07/07"

We've done that in the past. Now we don't really have to deal with Excel as much. But for exports now, the tools our guys use have the option of selecting columns to format as text. This way date like values won't be auto-formatted.

I'm not using Excel which would be easy. I am using Rational TestManager's API to pull test plan data. I can get any of the other data types but cannot get ModificationDate or DateCreated due to DOORS' inability to handle date types. Nor is there a way in the API to cast the type as a string as best I can tell. The same would be the problem for integration with ClearQuest as well.
