Hi

We are using Doors thru "Remote desktop connection", lately I noticed that when I export relatively big files to Microsoft Word , in some point it just stops the exporting process and closes Doors automatically.

Any ideas on this one?

What are you connecting to? Windows XP? Citrix? (Some Citrix admin might have configured your icon to say "remote desktop connection",)

When you export relatively little files, does this happen?

Do you have physical access to the machine so you can login? After you get disconnected and you reconnect, is the machine left in the same state as it was?

Give more information, please.

Exporting over the network has traditionally been troublesome. When exporting be sure to export to a file that is on the same computer as the DOORS client. After the export then get that file to your local client over the network.

The other problem could be that the Remote Desktop client times out if there is no activity, which means mouse clicks or key strokes while connected, and doesn't mean something is running. You may need to click in the Remove window every now and then to reset the time-out.

Also worth checking if there is a firewall (Juniper etc) between yourself and the machine running DOORS. The firewall might be configured to close 'dormant' connections after a certain timeout. Admittedly in that case the remote machine should just continue exporting without you, but one more link in the chain checked out.
