![]() Answer: Thanks for your help, guys. It looks like employing the "Link by Attribute" feature is the quickest way, re-creating the links and then deleting the old linkset. Actually, part way through I did hit upon doing this, though I populated the attribute manually based on data shown by a dxl script I adapted to display the abs no of the target. IIRC I deleted each old link individually, only afterwards realizing that the linkset could be deleted in one go from the link module editor (I assume). Cheers, Phil. | |

Is there an easy or neat way to move a linkset from one link module to another?
I initially used the default 'DOORS links' module for all my links in the project, then saw the light and decided on separate link modules for different linksets. I expect this might be typical. Does DOORS provide any support for moving linksets around? Would I have to resort to DXL scripting? I've solved the problem the hard way - tearing down the links and re-instating them individually. However, I might find in future I'd like to migrate linksets again. Does anyone else do this? PW. |

If you don't want to use dxl. What you want done can be done by "Link by attribute".
If you never have used "Link by attribute", doing what you requested could be a good learning tool for you. |

You cannot move link-sets. You have to re-create each link in the correct link module, then delete the old links.
As Ron suggests that can be done fairly quickly via 'link by attribute'. For each source module you create a text attribute and run a utility that stores the absolute numbers of target objects, one attribute per target module partner. You then run the 'link by attribute' utility specifying each target module and each link module associated with each attribute, it then creates the links as specified. You would then delete the link-set insided DOORS Links to remove all the old links. - Louie |
