OK, for the most part their right, however I stumbled across a way to make this work today.
I've only tested this with files, but maybe others can use this to figure out how to create other hyper links. A few things first: - I'm running this on 8.3 and 9.0 - I have run this with Outlook 2007 and 2003. Restrictions: ------------------------------- If running 2003: - There cannot be any spaces in the path to the file (I have not tested this completely as I don't have path without spaces in it to test). -------------------------------- - You need to use the UNC path to the drive the file is located on, not the letter drive. i.e. //myServer/my Drive What I found is if you use a path to the file like: //myServer/my Drive/my Folder/myFile.txt in the body of the e-mail message, Outlook will see this as a file and automatically create the hyperlink. If you use 2007 you can have spaces in the file path, but you'll need to put qoutes around it. Seeing it appears it Outlook doing the hyperlinking, I don't think there is a way to mask the hyperlink with different text. Here's the test I used: ------------------------- Scott Boisvert Engineering Tools Administrator L-3 Communications - Avionics Systems scott.boisvert@l-3com.com |

Hi Scott,
I'm not sure what you are talking about ![]() but I think the (older) question was to have DOORS-Hyperlinks. MS Outlook will detect "usual" hyperlinks automatically, but not those starting with "doors://" If you have found a way to have Doors links in sendEMailMessage function I would be very interested in how to achieve that. 1.) Yes, it is Outlook that does the automatic hyperlinking.
2.) You don't need to use a Skip List for this. 3.) You can include spaces in file paths by using angle brackets: <\\server\\my file> 4.) You can include http:// for web links See my revised sample: |

Thought I found something new...Guess not.
Good info from y'all though, I didn't know about the "<>". ------------------------- Scott Boisvert Engineering Tools Administrator L-3 Communications - Avionics Systems scott.boisvert@l-3com.com |

Always remember that even the word "impossible" means "i'm possible"

I just wish I could find a way to activate a weblink in a richField or richText DBE. You can get it to appear blue with underline, and even get the cursor to change, but when you click the link, it doesn't do anything. I guess you could mimick weblinks using canvases, and then define appropriate clickable areas on the canvas.
Another related thing you can do.... you can get DXL to auto-start an email message in Outlook, by using mailto:// instead of http:// Try: activateURL("mailto://scott.boisvert@as.l-3com.com") |
