DOORS 5.2 and 7.0 SP1 (Build Date Oct 13, 2003)
I have a formal module with two views. In "View A" I made some layout dxl changes (Changed include paths) and saved the new view. I never opened "View B" but I know that if I do open View B the layout DXL columns will not work because they need the have their include paths changed. Anyway, I can open the module up with no problems because "View A" is the default view. When I have another user attempt to open the module, DOORS starts prompting DXL errors (files not found) from "view B" even though the default view is "View A". I can open the module with no errors. The other person cannot open the module because DOORS is complaining about the "VIEW B" having Layout DXL errors. Why does DOORs work properly for me and not the other user? |

Gallion is right. The other user will need to open the module, tolerate the errors, then View >>Manage Views, select view B and turn OFF the "default for user" option.
If you post the DXL errors we can figure out whether you can fix them or delete View B. - Louie |

The errors I am getting are just file not found errors because all of my layout DXL have #includes in them. I had to change the folder structure of the #includes.
Sometimes, the DOORS client crashes when it cannot find the files in the #includes... And Rogers point about Default view for Module and not user may be part of the answer. It appears to me that DOORS opens other views that are not the default view (potentially to check syntax) and will complain when there are errors in a view that is not the default view. DOORS complains about files not being found in views that are not the default view for the module or user when I open up a formal module. Are there some rules that I'm not aware of? |

This is the first hint I've ever heard that DOORS considers views that are NOT being loaded. No, I'm sure that if view B isn't loaded we'll never notice any layout DXL errors in that view. But what Doors DOES do when you open a module is run the Attribute DXL stuff, if you have any such attributes defined. (Recall that Attr DXL is very similar to Layout DXL except its stored in an Attribute instead of a Column).
You can find out if there are any Attr DXL in your module by running the attached. If there are, perhaps uses an include file that other users have no "R" access to, perhaps because the creator included a file on his local C drive. - Louie I haven't spent the time figuring out EXACTLY when DOORS checks the syntax of Attr DXL, but sure it must do so on module open. |
