Answer:
Hi All,

After two days of knocking my head against a wall I think I've discovered the root of the problem. It's not that doors runs a random callback it is that the error reporting function cannot cope with programs over a certain length, it just picks a line number out of the air when reporting an error!!!

Obviously another DOORSerism!

Hi,

I am currently in the middle of writing a large DXL utility, I have now come across a problem whereby when the callback attached to a DBE is activated, a random callback rather than the assigned one is run.

The callback that is run seems to be chosen from a position in one of the include files, eg. If function 1 was on line 1007 then that function would be called but if you move them around so that function 46 occupies that line then that function would be called instead!

The only way I can explain this behaivour is that it is possible that DOORS has a limited size 'stack' for holding references to variables and functions and that I may have exceeded the size of this 'stack'. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this?

Cheers

Hugh

I have not come across any such limit.
We have custom DXL installed that contains over 64,000 lines (25,000 SLOC), approx 1,600 functions in 400 dxl files. No problems yet!

I will say, however that I have very few files longer than 1,000 lines.
