![]() Answer: Before mucking with these files I suggest you dowse yourself with gasoline and hold a lighted torch in you left hand. That will help remind you not to change anything. The 'c' in *.dtc and *.ixc ns 'current'; the 'b' in *.dtb and *.ixb means 'backup'. This is my guess: Updating information in the database appears to be something like this: [0] find all the *.dtc files that are associated with a particular change [1] rename *.dtb to *.dtx [2] rename *.dtc to *.dtb [3] save new information as *.dtc [4] if ALL the files associated with a change are saved as per 1-3, then delete all the *.dtx. Error recovery is this: if there exists a *.dtx then reinstate: [1] delete the *.dtc (if it exists) [2] rename the *.dtb to *.dtc [3] rename the *.dtx to *.dtb. I don't know what the 'dt' stands for in *.dtc but the 'd' is probably 'database'. The 'ix' in *.ixc is 'index'. - Louie | |

DOORS is a proprietary database. These files are DOORS data files that represent modules.
.dtb = baselined module .dtc = current module I am not sure about the .ixb and .ixc files, but the bigger question is what are you trying to accomplish? ------------------------- Kevin Murphy http://www.baselinesinc.com The Requirements Management Experts Edited: 12-Sep-2007 at 14:04 by Kevin Murphy |
