Answer:
Does anybody knows a workaround for the DOORS 7 defect 18581 ?

"If you rename an attribute in a module that has been set up for shareable edit, any specific values held in the attribute are lost."

We are working with many and huge modules in shareable edit mode from about 3-4 sites and I think this bug has some side effects for our handling, or ?

Thanks,
Dirk.

Another workaround is, to set the module in an unshared mode (solid mode?) before you change the attributes name.

Does we do the workarounds (or module tests) for telelogic ?

Regards,
Dirk.

Hi Roger,
Have you developed such a script to handle this defect?
It seems you would want it to capture the share-editable
attribute settings, reset to inherited make the change then
re-apply the previous attribute settings under the changed
name.

Is this a problem for modules that HAVE shared sections or for modules OPENED in shared mode? If its a shared-mode problem then hey, you are not supposed to be modifying attributes unless you are in Exclusive mode; and the bug would be that DOORS seems to let you try.

This is a problem for modules that have sections and is opened in exclusive mode. I think, it is not possible to edit an attribute name in shared open mode for modules without sections.

Does Telelogic has changed their algorithms for modifying meta data, because DOORS up to 6.x don't provide this "feature" ?

Dirk.
