I notice that DOORS maintains a login file which I've found at this location on the server: <data>\v6data\logs\login_history.txt.

I'd like to write a DXL that needs to read this file. Our client machines have no direct access to the server; only the DOORS ports are open (i.e. I can NOT open this file: "\\DoorsServer\DOORS-v7-Data\v6data\logs\login_history.txt).

Does anyone know of a way I can open this file via DXL running on my client? I suspect if a solution is possible it would be through configuration file access.

Hi Louie,
I have no experience with the mentioned file as I cannot access it also. What I can read is the flexlm-logfile, which is also quite revealing. Maybe this is another way to achieve what you want.

I cannot see anyway to do this.
Configuration files are stored under data/conf, not data/v6data, so you can't use that method.

I thought the best bet would be to look at how spelling options are stored because the files are stored "next" to the logs folder in data/v6data/spelling. Unfortunately this led nowhere because access to these files is provided by builtin perms - no code to look at :-(

Hi Louie,

we have a unix flexlm installation and the logfile is in a - for me - visible folder. There must be an option to let a logfile be created - even with flexlm running under windows if this is the case. The format can be influenced, ours is:
.
Tue Jun 13 10:38:06 2006: process 1148888244 connected (user@client) // checkout license
.
Tue Jun 13 10:39:00 2006: process 1148888244 exiting (user@client) // checkin license

You can do a lot analysis on individual usage as well as the amount of used licenses, detecting trends etc.

Regards
Hubertus
