I guess you've solved the problem of installing more than one database on the same server. But I guess you're talking about allowing a single client to access more than one away database, which are loaded on different servers.
Different Icons are the desired way to go. This works so long as the user knows that there are different databases and knows how to choose between the two. One Icon is "DOORS System Engineering" and the other is "DOORS Software Engineering". I've got several such Icons. You're method of updating the "data" value in the Registry will work, but as you noticed you are already logged in to a particular database and the "data" is only read before hand. I don't see any reason why your DXL cannot notice when the user actually changes the Data, and this DXL invokes DOORS after the change and then auto-logs out the user of the current session. Others may know of a more elegant method, but you could invoke doors with DXL via something that looks like "system("doors.exe")". - Louie |
