We are getting ready to install DOORS 7 and we would like a fall back position if the install doesn't work as planned. We plan to install DOORS 7 on the same server that we have DOORS 6 running on. We are installing on the same server because, as we all know, Telelogic cuts licenses to a specific server and once 7 is up, 6 is going away. What I'd like to know is if DOORS 7 and DOORS 6 can run on the same server without conflicting. We are obviously going to have to upgrade the Flexlm license manager, but does anyone know of any other challenges?

You can install multiple database server services on your DOORS server. DOORS 6 will use 36677 for its default database server port number. You need a different port number for DOORS 7 SR1 - for instance use 36699. DOORS 7 requires a different license and also the new Flexlm v8 manager service. You will need to install a new service with a different name to provide DOORS 6 and 7 licenses as you can only run one Flexlm license manager on your server. The DOORS 6 license port number is 7192. DOORS 7 is 19353 for the license. See the thread below for more info or talk with DOORS support.

I have run DOORS 5.2 and 6 SR1 from the same server. We are also moving to DOORS 7 with DOORS 6 SR1 as a backup in case the migration of projects has some complications.

I do know that the DOORS 5.2, 6 SR1, and 7 SR1 clients can all coexist on the same workstation.

Hi David,

In addition to what Mary Gibbons has mentioned above, Click here to go to a thread where I have provided some instructions to another user regarding the upgrade of your FLEXLm license server - the process for upgrading existing installations of FLEXlm is not adequately documented in the DOORS v7 documentation.
