I've embedded a PowerPoint (PPT) slide in a DOORS object and am having troubles.
The PPT slide is not displaying properly within the DOORS environment nor when I print, however it does display correctly with PPT (after I right-click select "Properties..." and double click on the PPT graphic in "Object Properties" window, which opens the graphic in PowerPoint). Have other people run into difficulties with viewing PPT in DOORS? Is this a DOORS problem or a MS problem? Thanks, Todd |

You'll need to be more specific about "properly". But perhaps some of the following will help.
[] Be cognizant as to whether you are embedding an embedded object, such as embedding an Excel Spreadsheet and wrap it in an MS-Word file, and put THAT into DOORS. That is, if you "edit" the OLE from DOORS can you then "edit" the object from that object? Its easy to goof and get an extra level. [] The size of the OLE object in the DOORS object matters a lot. You can manually resize it to fit the window, but DXL may be better in order to keep height/width proportionately the same. [] For MS-Word stuff, the "Page Properties" from WITHIN the OLE matters. Edit" the MS-Word object and monkey with the "page margins" then close-and-return-to-DOORS, and you'll see a difference in DOORS. I suspect that Power Point has its own "features" in this regard. - Louie |

My problem was with a PPT file (object) directly embedded in a DOORS object. It contained a block diagram (30 or so blocks, pretty colors and all) but DOORS displayed only a few of them. I haven't solved this yet and couldn't figure out how to attach a bitmap of the results here.
However... My local DOORS guru has suggested I store my PPT objects in a separate graphics module: instead of storing the PPT object directly in my design module, we'll copy a bitmap version of it there and link against the original PPT in the graphics module. This will allow us to track changes in the original PPT (which I want to maintain centrally in DOORS) while keeping the design module looking pretty. Todd |

Wow. I cannot get Power Point to display at all, although I can get the file into Object Text and can "edit" it there. I suspect, in my ignorance, that it has something to do with the fact that it is a "slide show" which is a dynamic thing (screens are displayed on demand) rather than a "page" (screens just exist).
