I think it's well understood that DOORS V7 requires new FLEXlm license keys to be issued - however they may need to co-exist with pre v7 license keys.

I believe that when you upgrade to version 7, the FLEXLm lmgr.exe file must also be upgraded to the latest version or the co-existing license keys will clash (Can anyone confirm clarify/this).

I have a situation where we have a central FLEXLm license service and 6 distributed DOORS DB servers running either v5.2 or v6.0SR1. A DOORS DB server (v6.0SR1) also resides on the same host as the central FLEXLm license service.

I have one team who is ready to go to be upgraded to v7.0. The rest are unable to upgrade for reasons of compatability with other tools and customers.

Can I upgrade just the FLEXLm license service component on it's own? I've tried performing partial component installations with DOORS before, only to find that the components you don't select for installation are uninstalled rather than ignored. So I don't want a situation where-by I run the DOORS v7 install, select FLEXLm as the custom install option only to find that it un-installs the co-existing v6.0 DOORS DB service.

Paul,

I have a v7 DOORS license running on the same license server as our v5/6 DOORS licenses. I just installed it into a different directory on the license server. The v7 DOORS license uses a different license daemon, so there is no clash. As far as the license server is concerned, they are two completely different applications.
