Using DOORS 7.1 build 71102.
We have a problem which I've never seen before. A module has section 1.3 duplicated as section 1.2.1 (I know it was this way round because an earlier version had only 1.3). When I say duplicated, I mean right down to the exact same ID. If I open the module explorer, I can see both 1.2.1 and 1.3, but if I click on either section in module explorer, the selected object is the one in section 1.2.1 (if that makes sense). The history for both "copies" is exactly the same. It's almost as if, somehow, a pointer has been set up for the copy of the section, but it points to the same place as the original. So the only awareness we have of the duplication is in module explorer and in the view. Has anyone seen this before and can explain to me how to correct it. I'm reluctant to delete anything in case it deletes BOTH copies, as they seem to be one and the same. |

This duplications of objects was a known problem and was fixed in the last SR2 if I recall. And was only know in prior version of 7

Do you know if there's a workaround without taking SP2?

Version prior to SR2 had significant problems and upgrading to SR2 seems like the best path.
Other approach is write a script that finds duplicates and then correct as you see fit. |

Hi Alan,
I remember such a problem a long time ago too. I think it was in Doors 7.1 as you say. IRC the source for the problem was copy and paste in shareable edit mode. So if you will ever use exclusive edit mode for copy and paste operations (of Objects) it should work fine ![]() Greetings Reik ------------------------- Evosoft GmbH for Siemens Industry Sector Berlin, Germany |

Build 71102 is the raw unpatched version of the DOORS 7v1 client. It's highly recommended that you get up to at least build 71169 which requires each DOORS 7.1 client to have Patch #13 applied. There is a patch #14 and #15, but patch #13 is the minimum.

Thanks all.
Paul/Ron, we're hoping to go to v8 in the very near future, so updating all clients will probably be a bit impractical, although it would have been wise to have done this a while ago. A lesson learnt for someone in our IT department. It appears as if shareable edit was the reason, and has been resolved, thanks Reik. |
