Hi,
I am new to DOORS and currently looking for a way to import the excel file that contains both English and Japanese characters. Our problem is that the original excel file when converted to .csv for import to DOORS shows all Japanese characters as ?? and subsequently what get imported inside DOORS is a garbage. I have tried using regional settings (control panel) as well as microsoft language settings option (ms office) to turn on the Japanese characters. My all attempts have failed. Can someone give me pointers what possibly I have been missing in the entire process? Thanks in advance. Regards, Jalil Akbar |

So I have a *.CSV file with Japanese Characters. I am able to manually Copy and Paste them into my DOORS Module. However, when I do an import, the characters import all garbeled. I have all of the Windows Regional and Language Settings set to 'Japanese' as well.
Any advice? Should I try to format the data and import a Word Document?
Thanks
Walter

Hi Jalil, Hi Walter,
I tried a little bit with an Excel file, where I've copied some Japanese chars into (from a web site). Then I saved the file as "Unicode Text (*.txt)" Then I used the "File -> Import -> Spreadsheet..." with following options: Import Attributes : From list Import options : Create New Objects Attributes to Import : "Object Text" Data Separator : Tab Input File : <The saved file from Excel> [Advanced] Encoding : 1200 (UTF-16) The chars where displayed correctly in small text area in bottom of import dialog. So I imported the data - and it was correctly imported! Hope you can reproduce my tests .... Greetings Reik ------------------------- Evosoft GmbH for Siemens Industry Sector Berlin, Germany |

Hi. I got it working another way. I did all my work as an *.xls and then saved as a *.csv. The key is to not save this *.csv again as it will change the japanese characters over to '???'s.
I also used '10001 MAC - Japanese' as 'Advanced' as my import type. Thanks Walter |
