Answer:
Michelle,

In DOORS 6 and above, the following scripts are included:

$DOORSHOME/lib/dxl/example/histcol.dxl
$DOORSHOME/lib/dxl/example/include/delta.inc

In DOORS 7 and above, there is a built-in DXL function diff().

All of this is discussed in the following presentation: DOORS Rich Text - Behind the Markup

Does anyone know of a way to export a document using the line-in, line-out (track changes)? I can see them in the history object by clicking on the view in redlining, but it doesn't export like that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. ~Michelle

1) There is a "kitchen" script (layout DXL) that displays the differences between "latest" text and text from a selected baseline.
You could create a view that included this column and export the view. Note that this would show changes explicitly, not just with a vertical bar against paragraphs that have changed.

2) The WEXP (Word EXPorter) application has an option to show changes relative to a selected baseline. This DOES show vertical bars against changed paragraphs.

John,
I appreciate the info... but I couldn't find either the layout DXL or the Word Exporter option. Could you be more specific? Thanks!

Michelle,

I hope I am not misunderstanding but I think you need the following packages ...

1) KITCHEN SCRIPTS: The "compare Modules" function is a separate DXL script provided as part of the (unsupported) set of 'kitchen' scripts available from Telelogic via your local representative (at least that's how we got our copy). It is not part of the standard DOORS installation.

2) WEXP: The "WEXP" scripts are available via a similar route. Again they are unsupported. Note: This is NOT the same as the basic "Word exporter" that is available for download from Telelogic site, but is a very capable and configurable set of scripts that allow you to do what you were after (and more).

Hope this helps

John Bentley

Michael, thanks for the info. This is really good and has helped me quite a lot. I'm close, but I still noticed one problem. When using the diff() function, the original object formatting is lost. Have you encountered this problem? Thanks again! ~Michelle

Michelle,

The diff() function compares plain text values, and reports the result with Rich Text markup. Unfortunately, all Rich Text formatting in the original values will be stripped in the diff representation.
