I am a recent user of Doors and have been very impressed with this forum and how useful & knowledgeable everyone is.
I recently have been trying to get a copy of WEXP to see if it would help in exporting to some Word templates. Telelogic has advised us that it's no longer available and want to sell us the DocExpress package (no surprise there). From reading threads, it seems that WEXP was easier to use than DocExpress, at least for older versions? We are using Doors 7.1. At this point in our schedule, I'm not sure I can afford the time to purchase, install, and train on DocExpress. Our goal is to have a standard method to export from Doors views into templates we use, for a "typical" 6 section, Mil spec format, without having to create an excessive amount of unique DXL or extensive VBA macros.

My questions are fairly basic.
1. Can I still get WEXP anywhere else? Is there any license issue?
2. What would you recommend for a small group (17 Global licenses) just starting out to export to "simple" Word templates?
3. How much time and effort is involved to use the latest version of DocExpress, is it worth the effort?
4. Other than WEXP and DocExpress, what are other folks now using?

Thank you for any advice you may have.

Stephen

If it is a simple output you are looking for, then you could set up your Word template and use the built in export to word functionality. This will export the data in the current view to the nominated template, so you get all your headers and footers and any front matter.

Hi Hazel,
Thank you for your advice.
We have been exporting to word specific templates, and keeping the master templates up to date, to reflect the desired formatting. The standard export from Doors does not perform some simple formatting that we need, such as printing two objects (or attributes) on the same line, next to each other, rather then on seperate lines. We have created some macros to do this reformatting, but I'm not sure that this is the best way for use by a larger group. I was wondering if WEXP might make this easier, or DocExpress.

Best Regards.........Stephen
