Answer:
Hi All,

I must admit to getting a little tired and cranky about the inability of DOORS to get a move on and provide a decent publishing interface.

The WEXP has been around fo at least 4 years and despite some clunkiness, it's pretty damn good and offers 10 times more features than what you get is in the current version of DOORS. It begs the question, why hasn't the WEXP been properly developed and incorporated into DOORS? It would save a lot of time spent on maintaining custom DXL publishing scripts, VBA scripts and post export formatting.

You can do the headers/footers/TOC etc. by defining an MS-Word template file *.dot, and using that (instead of normal.dot) when you export.

I'm using the very WEXP exporter from Jeremy Disk of Telelogic at the moment, it seems working fine although we have not completed our evaluation yet. I am happy to share comment and tips with you all.

I can be contacted on email: patrickliang@consultant.com (permanent email address)

or work: patrick.liang@defence.gov.au

cheers,

Patrick Liang

A slightly different solution to the problem.

1 Carefully define the Word template as described by Louie.
2 Export to html which is easy to customise.
3 Open a new Word document based on the template.
4 Insert the html using ->Insert ->File from Word.
5 Remember to use ->Edit -> Links ->'save picture in document' for any OLEs

Daniel, I've heard of this DXL but haven't found anyone that would send it. Would you mind?

Try this on for size. I run the ReportWriter2a.dxl before I export the module. I have tags in the HeadBuilder.dot that are module attributes. When I run the script, it creates a template with the module attributes in the Header. Tell me what you all think.
