Hi,
I'm just starting with DOOR and I have some problems to get the people work on it. 1 solution it is to deploy forms to change objects (and their attributes) because they are usually viasually better (when their is not much attributes to fill). What I can't do yet is to make a trigger on a obtect open that RUN automatically a form to edit the object. Is this possible or i have to create an Dialog Box that will edit the object and attributes and then deploy this with the open trigger? Thank You -Oscar Sanhueza ------------------------- Oscar Sanhueza |

Hi Oscar,
you are opening two cans of worms here, as both triggers and dialogue boxes have really steep learning curves. As you just started with DOORS, I would strongly recommend not to go for a solution based on the two of them. The real problem is that the people are reluctant to use DOORS. In my experience this is mainly because they can't use it neither like MS Word nor like MS Access, the two programs they are used to managing their requirements with. So first of all, I'd suggest to give those people some training, and then support specific tasks with triggers and dialogue boxes as necessary, but not to try to replace the module explorer window with a trigger / dialogue box combination if your own. To start with, I would recommend to make the most out of views, i.e. preparing specific views for specific tasks, and maybe making those views the default views for the relevant people. Just show them what they need to see and what they have to modify, this already helps a lot. However, in your original post you are making a difference between a form and a dialogue box. If I don't get you wrong here, there is no difference. If you want to provide a form, it must be a dialogue box. So the short answer to your initial question would be yes, it is possible, with a combination of an object sync trigger and a dialogue box. Regards, Peter |

Thanks for the advice Peter
I am creating already different view and also usign a close trigger to auto save the current view as default for the current user (EXAMPLE DXL PROGRAMM) . But anyway I would like to try the "Auto open form with a trigger of a create new object", so when user goes and create a new object, automatically runs a forms already created. At the moment I'm progressively uderstanding more about DXL and triggers but and advice of how to run forms from DXL would be good bc I can't found anything on the Help(Manual). I think that I understand that if the FORMS are just default Dialog Boxes created on DOORS i could make my own form and "easily" make it run on a trigger. But I would like to use this DOORS FORMS if is possible and save time making new DB and also now if is possible to make a trigger on the create new object. Oscar check out my Dynamic Dialog Box available on Kevin's site.
Dynamic Dialog Box While it doesn't give you the trigger part that you want, you can create dialog box setups uniquely for each module since you can save a certain selection of attributes for use later on. Plus it also lets you view an objects history and link info. ------------------------- David Pechacek AAI Services Textron dpechacek@sc-aaicorp.com David.Pechacek@gmail.com Edited: 3-Jun-2008 at 13:03 by David Pechacek |
