![]() Answer: I dont know how to measure the amount of page but we have one module that has well over 60,000 objects and 500,000+ links going through it. These links do not all go through one link module though. Yes, DOORS is a memory hog. Unfortunately, it is ![]() How do you count the pages? | |

Good afternoon,
We would like to experience the use of Citrix with Doors 7.1, the problem for us is to evaluate the size of the server on which Citrix and Doors will be installed. We have large databases to open and we are afraid of the memory usage on the server having multiple users at the same time, do you have any recommandation has what would be a proper server configuration (hardware, memory size, CPU speed, etc) to run Doors v7.1 with 10 users opening large databases? at work here we use several Dell PowerEdge 1750 machines as CITRIX servers. i think each of them have 4 processors runing at around 3 mhz and each machine has 4 gigs of ram running Windows Server 2000.
no complaints from our users yet on slowness and there are usually more than 10 users on each machine. http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/pedge_1850?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz ------------------------- pete.kowalski(at)motorola.com Edited: 27-Jun-2005 at 20:26 by Pete Kowalski |

How large are the databases your team is opening, we have one database with over 5,000 pages and when we open the database with the PC client, we see the memory usage on the PC going over 400MB, we are afraid that we will require a powerfull server with a lot of memory, what would be your opinion on this?

The number of page is the final product after it's print. The number of object it's around of 60,000 objects to 200,000 objects for the big one. The other thing the administrator told me also, sometime they use the traceability feature and that open more volume in background.
Any suggestions for the large ones, do you think we'll need a lot of memory and CPU if we have 10 users at the same time? Edited: 29-Jun-2005 at 15:29 by Michel Savard |

We run Citrix with 7.1, twin processor machines with 4G Ram, and have modules up to 1.5G in size (although that's an extreme), several hundred meg is common, we often have around 10 users per machine without too much issue.
However we've thoroughly discouraged use of word exports as this is a major memory and cpu hog, probably the worst case of any DOORS function, one export will often 100% load a single processor and take a huge amount of RAM. ------------------------- Graham Stradling, Alcatel-Lucent. |
