Hi David,

The upgrading of your FLEXLm license service so that it can support v5,6 and 7 can be bit of a fiddle. Click on the link below and look for my response/solution to a similiar question raised last year.

We are upgrading to v7. I was wondering if I could replace my 5.2 license keys with my recently acquired v7 keys to do testing on the upgrade? Will the 5.2 still work with the v7 licenses?

Hi David,

I don't think DOORS v5.2 will work with a DOORS v7 license.dat file. Your recently acquired DOORS v7 keys will work with DOORSv 7.1 There are differences with the flexLM and with writing to registry keys at HKEY_Local_Machine versus the old doors.ini file for v5.2.

Here is the Telelogic info:
For DOORS 7, a new license is required. A DOORS 6 license or an earlier license will not work. For DOORS 6, a DOORS 5 or DOORS 6 license will work. There is no need to request a new license when upgrading from DOORS 5 to DOORS 6.

Hello David.

I'm afraid they're not backword compatible since Telelogic have changed the licensing to use the Telelogic vendor daemon instead of the DOORS daemon.

I believe Telelogic have done this so that you can have one licence key for all their projects.

If you have a requirement for both DOORS 5.2 and DOORS 7.x, then you can upgrade your licence server to FLexlm 8 (part of DOORS 7 installation), upgrade some of your licences to DOORS 7 and have both your 7 and 5 licences in the 1 licence file, supplied by Telelogic. By default DOORS 7 licensing uses port 19353 instead of 7192

Hope this is of some use.
