Is it just me, or has Telelogic taken giant strides backwards with the Change Proposal System in Version 8? Once submitted, the CPS changes to an Object are no longer accessible (they are greyed out) in the Review Screen. How does one make changes to a Change Proposal during the Review? How does one use the Duplicate Set feature to combine two conflicting CPs into one without editting the attributes of the Primary? It appears the only procedure is to create a New CP with the desired updates and either reject the original CP or make it a Secondary Duplicate. Creating new CPs to update the text or attributes during a Review seems to me to be very inefficient.

CPS is designed to provide support for a single process. That process has always tried to maintain the integrity of the original proposal made by the user. That is, if the user made a proposal, we felt it bad practice for somebody else to change that proposal and seemingly, misrepresent the original user's intent. Instead, we felt that if the proposal was wrong, it should be rejected, and a new proposal raised in its place. However, it turns out that this precaution disappeared from CPS in some earlier version and we only discovered it when we revisited CPS for version 8. It also turns out that it was possible to modify the proposal even after it was approved which is totally unacceptable. Having made this discovery, we reinstated the control in version 8.>>

>H>aving said all this, it does seem that some users had come to rely on the ability to change a proposal after it was submitted so we will be looking at possible alternatives to the current functionality to enable you to make changes during the review process.

Also remember, if you want a fully configurable change process for DOORS consider using SYNERGY/Change which now lets you create change requests by editing the regualr DOORS module.
