Been playing with History and of course come across Read-Locked data. I got curious when I saw Read-Locked data for History in a module that I created, when I was the author of the History, and I've always had full access to the module. On further investigation the History in question were for attribute create-modify-deletes for an attribute that (of course) no longer exists. I then re-created the attribute and surprise! the previous Read-Locked History became visible.
I've been pondering the algorithm DOORS users to determine if a History is Read Locked to the current user. I've always doubted that such an algorithm could preserve the accesses users had when the History was genertate. I've now tenetively come up with the following algorithm: >> History for an Object is Read Locked if the current user currently lacks 'R' access to the Object, including if the object is Purged. History for an Attribute is Read Locked if the current user currently lackes 'R' access to the Attribute, including if the attribute no longer exists. Was wondering if anybody out there would like to comment on that. - Louie PS. Just came up with the attached function that determines if a History is read locked, figuring such history should be ignored. |

Hi Louie,
I would tend to agree with your assessment. I've seen the same thing on several occasions. You didn't mention it, but I'm sure you're aware that if you log into the Adminstrator account, you can view the "Read Locked" history record normally. At least this has been my experience so far. ------------------------- Scott Boisvert Engineering Tools Administrator L-3 Communications - Avionics Systems scott.boisvert@l-3com.com |
