All,
I'm trying to cut down on the amount of space I use in my DOORS module. The module includes lots of screen shots. When I open properties and insert a bitmap (huge amount of KB) and hit apply it remains visible. When I convert an image to JPEG and try the same thing, the image basically "disappears". You can still click and see the borders, but the image is empty. What do I have to do to successfully use JPEGs in my module? Alternately, if there is another format that saves space and DOORS recognizes what might that be? Thanks in advance. Tara P.S. - I want to do this because embedded bitmaps create HUGE Word documents on export. ------------------------- Tara L. Wilk Curmudgeon-at-large, NGC engineer in spare time |

Hi Tara,
one way is to insert the jpegs into a Word file via Insert --> Picture and then either import the Word file into DOORS or simply copy / paste the embedded images into the DOORS module. The pictures are then visible in the DOORS module and also export nicely back to Word. Regards, Peter |

I currently do not have an installation to test my theory as described below.
My theory is that you maybe wasting your time converting to jpg since jpg DOORS may not store the data as a jpg compressed file. How DOORS store the data is not predictable without looking the horse in the mouth. (i.e., Do some test on the server before wasting lots of time converting) |

Well, it did some good already. I've only replaced 2 pictures
and the resulting exported doc shrank from 6,622KB to 4,479KB. That made a believer out of me. ------------------------- Tara L. Wilk Curmudgeon-at-large, NGC engineer in spare time |
