I am relatively new to DOORS, so please excuse me if I am asking something covered somewhere else....

I have several changes submitted as CPs. I can add columns to my view to show the proposed changes. And if I view each change independently, I can see the original text with redline markups.

I cannot seem to get the redline markup view to show outside of the single change detail page. I cannot even seem to get the original text to populate a column in the module view. Every time I try it (either as object text or header) the column comes back empty. If I try to get the changes into the original module (outside of the CP module), I can get some basic info (status of the change, when it was submited, etc.) into another column, but not the proposed changes. Its like I can have one or the other but not both in the same view.

I saw a post from 2005 where someone had a DXL script to grab the original text and highlight proposed changes in red for an added column; however the script does not seem to work for 8.2. I really need to be able to show the current and proposed new changes in an easily viewed manner (columns, redlines, etc.) for a review meeting. Any ideas?

Thanks!

The following is an old layout DXL script that displays red-lined markup of differences between the curren object text and the proposed object text. It does not compare object headings.

Right click on a column header bar and select New...
Check "Layout DXL"
Click on Browse...
Click on current
Paset the DXL code into the dialog.
Click Check.
If there are no errors click OK
Enter a title for the column and click OK again.
Save the view.

Hope this helps.

I have started to post some examples on my website.

Thank you, Tony.
I haven't tried your suggestions yet as we are moving software over to a new server, but will attempt early next week.

Thank you again for the recommendations.

Hi, Tony. This did not help. It generated a new column with the change proposal object number inside of it and that was all.....

Hi, Tony. I tried the script and all it did was create a column and enter the change proposal object id into the new column. It did not show the marked up text or the proposed text in the column at all. It didn't even seem to refer to the change proposal module, so I'm not sure how it would have marked up the text. Any other ideas?

Not sure why you are having trouble. Looking at the script it is very simple and I can't see anything wrong with it.
It works on my machine.
It compares object text with proposed object text only.

Christine, What version of DOORS are you using. Tony's script requires DOORS 7.1 or later. Tony's script worked ok on my machine -- but it only works for object text
You cps may of been agains object heading or some other attribute
