![]() Answer: Hi Louie, FLEXLm comes with a utility by the name of LMUTIL.EXE. This utility has many command line arguments that can report back on information about the FLEXLm service and the licences it's managing. You'll need to get a copy of the FLEXLm User manual (click here for pdf copy). This will describe all of the supported arguments. As an example, to get a report on how many licences are available and how many have been checked out or who has them, you would enter from the DOS prompt: lmutil lmstat -f DOORS This will display something like the following - you'll see the info your after in amongst the report: lmutil - Copyright (c) 1989-2003 by Macrovision Corporation. All rights reserved. Flexible License Manager status on Mon 1/24/2005 08:30 [Detecting lmgrd processes...] Users of DOORS: (Total of 33 licenses issued; Total of 3 licenses in use) "DOORS" v7.000, vendor: telelogic floating license smithj L992038 L992038 (v7.000) (REGULUS/7192 328), start Fri 1/21 16:26 citizenp Hoedus A993505 (v7.000) (REGULUS/7192 3619), start Mon 1/24 8:24 millerp Hoedus A100428 (v7.000) (REGULUS/7192 135), start Mon 1/24 7:41 | |

I know I can use dbsadmin.exe on the DOORS server to find out who's now logged into DOORS. But that's not the same thing as finding out how many licenses are outstanding, since if you run DOORS twice from your client you use 1 license but have 2 doors sessions.
How can I find out how many licenses are currently used? Can I query DOORS, FlexLM? - Louie |

In case anyone is interested, I published this tool on our intranet website so users could see who is online. I am a big fan of PHP programming. See attached code.
