Hello All,
I have three folders each containing a template module which is copied to create a new module with user provided module attributes via the DB. Each folder has access rights defined as R for users that do not have create authority and when the code is executed with a non authorised user the following DXL error is displayed: -R-W- DXL: <C:\Documents and Settings\Mark Williamson\My Documents\DOORS\My DXL\TTG\includes\Create Adhoc Test.inc:59> duplicating module 'Test Module template' fails: No such file or directory I wish to capture the fact that the user has no create rights in this folder and exit cleanly but every combination of the canCreate perm I have tried against the folder or module returns that the user has access, even though the properties of the module and folder are R only. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks Mark ------------------------- mark_williamson@synthesys.co.uk http://www.synthesys.co.uk ---------------------------------------- |

Hi Mark,
I have some functions (attached) to test the access rights of objects and modules. The same should be easy to do for Projects and Folders. These functions use the AccessRec data type instead of canControl, canEdit etc. I think you should be able to adapt HasControl(Module m) to being a HasControl(Project p) or HasControl(Folder f) easy enough. As with noraml DOORS access rights, the individual user access rights override any group rights. Hopefully, this will give you a more reliable result the canControl. Paul |

Hi Paul,
Many thanks for your post. I had tried using the AccessRec data type but had not managed to get the perm just right. I amended your HasCreate function for folder and called the function prior to the module copy and it works a treat. Thanks very much. DXL learning curve is still pretty steep.
