I just updated my machine to use Word 2007, and I'm getting some interesting results. WEXP appears to be broken and even some quirky things happen upon export to Word, like OLEs come through as embedded fields and need to be F9'd.
Also, it may be just some documents, but even an import generated an error I've never seen before. So now I have to ask: Is it just me, or is anyone using Word or Office 2007 with DOORS? (I'm on DOORS 8.1, soon to be 8.3 or 9.0)... ------------------------- Kevin Murphy http://www.baselinesinc.com |

Kevin,
I think you'll need a V8.3 client (which requires a new license file). The readme for V8.3 shows it is tested against Office 2007. V8.1 and V8.2 are not. Most clients here are running V8.1 and Office 2003. A colleague of mine installed Office 2007 on his machine, and Word integration stopped working. We upgraded him to V8.3 and now Word integration and Wexp work again. ------------------------- Joseph DUBIN joseph.dubinNOSPAM@freescale.com Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. |

Thank you for the great information! I tried searching for Word and 2007 and it was impossible to find things (because dates are included in the search I believe)...

Word 2007 equations don't work in DOORS.
Previously (Word 2000, at least), you could double-click on a pasted equation in a DOORS module and edit it. If you create a new equation in Word 2007 via the "Equation" button on the Insert tab and copy it to the clipboard, it will paste into DOORS as a static image and you will not be able to edit it later. If, however, you use an old-style equation object (Insert -> Object -> Microsoft Equation 3.0), it will work. DOORS uses the same richtext controls as WordPad, and WordPad behaves the same way. No word (ha ha) on if Microsoft has anything in the works to fix it, or if they're even aware of it. I am going to ask the rep on my support case if Telelogic plans on doing anything... Chris |
