Does anyone have a script that parses through the object text and can place a check in the column pertaining to the string that is being searched for?
For instance if I have the object text and I want to search for everytime the word Car is used, then for it to automatically make an X in a column titled "Car" to show that the word car is in the object text to the left. |

You don't need a dxl for that --
Create a filter for Car Then select properties of any object- Select Tab Attributes proceed to update the attribute Car for all objects in view. |

I don't know about the users you support Ron. But you might be surprised at how complicated getting people to use filters can be. Our users are still coming to terms with the idea that the data in a module is the same (and still exists) regardless of the view you're looking at and if a certain object is shown or hidden.

David,
It's obvious your users need training. I recently worked a client where everyone got trained at the beginning--we were launching DOORS. I developed custom training, targeted for what these users were going to be doing. I cannot tell you what a world of difference this has made. This group of folks know and understand how DOORS works better than engineers I've worked with for years. The training I gave the people above was in November of last year. For the example here, it's not so important that a user would need to know how to create a filter a populate an attribute...the important thing is to show the user so they know and will likely remember that it can even be done to begin with. If you have time, really look at and revamp your internal DOORS training--it will only benefit everyone in the end. ------------------------- Kevin Murphy http://www.baselinesinc.com |
