One of my users approached me today and wanted to know if there was a maximum limit on the number of characters that can be entered into an object. He was specifically talking about Object Text, but I'm guessing that if a maximum limit applies, then it will apply to all objects.
Anyway, does anyone know if there is a maximum limit? If so, what is the maxmium limit? Thanks. ------------------------- Matt Herald Systems Engineering Tools Administrator ITT Corporation - Communications Systems Fort Wayne, IN |

A quick test shows that over 30,000 characters (with spaces) can be handled.
So for practical purposes there seems to be no limit.

There is a definite limit on the maximum number of characters in a string attribute.
I seem to remember that this is platform dependant. On my machine the following prints 968: print maximumAttributeLength "" I do not know of any limit to the size of text attributes, but I would advise against putting more than can be seen on the screen. ------------------------- Tony Goodman http://www.smartdxl.com |
