How do I merge two modules?
Here's the example: Module "Engine" contains engine requirements numbered ENG-1.0 thru ENG-n Module "Clutch" contains clutch requirements numbered CLU-1.0 thru CLU-m Managment decided that all Clutch requirements will be Engine requirements and that we don't want to track them seperately. How do I merge/suck in/combine the two such that the two lists are combined? New list numbered ENG-1.0 thru ENG-(n+m) I tried to select all and copy CLU but Doors wouldn't let me paste into the ENG module. I don't see an import/merge function. Please Advise |

We would export your "Clutch" requirements out to a spreadsheet from the "Clutch" module, and then import the spreadsheet into the "Engine" module. Exporting allows you to specify which attributes you want to move. The attributes that you move will need to have matching attributes in the "Engine" module. Following this path does not allow you to bring along the history of each requirement or any links. You could bring along the "Clutch" unique ID and place it in a attribute of your choice.

If you look at menu item TOOLS>Functions you will see 'Copy Objects'.
That allows you to copy between modules.
Run it from your source module.

As Robert said use Copy Objects. Select which attributes and group of objects you wish to copy. Make sure in the target module (Engine) the current object is the object after which you want the new objects to be copied taking into consideration the object levels. ------------------------- - Martin |
