Answer:
Hi John,

DOORS Version 7.1 has introduced a module compare function with red line mark-up - this assumes of course that you're using this version or can at least upgrade to it.

If this is just an exploratory excercise, you could install the version 7.1 client and a DB server on your PC and use the local DB as a sandpit to experiment with the export & compare.

BTW - the version 7.1 client will install alongside versions 5 and 6 without effecting them. If you already have version 7.0 installed, you can upgrade to the 7.1 client only and still use the 7.1 client to connect to both your v7.0 Production DB server and a v7.1 Local DB server on your PC.

A project that I am on is importing Modules from Microsoft Word into DOORS. I was looking for a script that will compare two different revisions of the same module, and mark them up with the differences. Each of these modules will be imported separately and not just a modified DOORS Module. Modules will have over 10000 objects each so a memory efficient script would be best.

I also have another question. Will the 7.1 client work with our current 7.0 license servers?

A DOORS client 7.1 will work with a DOORS server 7.0 or 7.0 SP1.

The only problem with licence servers is between v5.2 and earlier and v6.0 and later, when something fundamental about the name of the thing being licenced changed (from DOORS to Telelogic, I think). So the answer to your question is still yes.
