Is it possible to export to an excel sheet or some other form so that the module can be reimported into doors with the OLE objects intact?

Yes, I do this all the time with XML.
Use the richTextWithOle() perm to get the obejct text to export. On the way back in use richText(string to import). This recreates the OLE in DOORS perfectly. ------------------------- Tony Goodman http://www.smartdxl.com |

'Sorry, I misunderstood the question and assumed you were writing DXL rather than using the GUI.
What you are trying to do is not possible.
To round-trip data by exporting to another tool and then importing back into doors you have to use excel.
This gives you control over attributes.
Unfortunately the excel exporter does not support rich text.
Exporting to rich text or word gives you a document, but it is no use for importing back into doors, because it only contains heading and text.'

Hi Tony,
I'm trying to import/export my Doors modules via XML format. As i have TREK, i use the function TREK Exchange to do this. Everything works, even the links, but i'm in big trouble about the sizes of the OLE. Infact, TREK Exchange generates an XML file in which it puts all the informations and 1 .rtf file for each OLE object (and these files are... huge !!!). For example; for a module that takes about 4MB in .dma, Trek Exchange generates a XML file that weights 1500kB and a bunch of .rtf files for about 200MB (some files are 35MB big). Do you have any idea that can help me ? Regards, Edited: 21-Apr-2008 at 07:31 by LAPERROUSAZ Vincent |

Did anyone have a script to export to XML with all the OLE Objects and Pictures and Imported back to DOORS having the same format and with the OLE Objects in-place.
THanks |
