![]() Answer: Procedure for Exporting a Module to a TSV file and then Importing updates from a TSV file. Here is what you need to do. Create a view with a column for each of the following attributes. Object Identifier Object Heading Object Text Absolute Number Object Number Object Level Plus columns for any other attributes you want exported. Ensure that the view does NOT contain the Main column or the "ID" column. Save the View as "Export View" Make sure the Export View is loaded and select Export > Spreadsheet. Select "Tab" Click Export. When you get the modified TSV file back: Select Import > Spreadsheet Select "Tab" Browse to the file Click Import You will be prompted to select the attribute that uniquely identifies each object. Select "Absolute Number". Your module wil be automatically updated. | |

Hi Dorsians, "Typically" we have in Doors the following hierarchy (Threading): Of course, I can change all this manually with the option move->below/after, but it's to long. |

Hello Ron! :-)
Thanks to much for your information. I tested a dxl script (Build Hierarchy) from Galatic Solutions, but this couldn't solve my problem. I can see the differents attributes from my modul in the dxl-window, but the "object text" doesn't appear. For me is important, that the "object text" one level below by import appears, please see my example. For a possible solutions, thanks in advance. Christian |

Christian,
The "Build Hierarchy" script assumes the hierarchy numbering is in a separate attribute, and not mixed with the "Object Text". This is why the script does not work for your situation. ------------------------- Michael Sutherland michael@galactic-solutions.com http://galactic-solutions.com |

Hi Michael,
thanks for your answer...I had thought, I did that wrongly. Michael, can you give me any tips for that, please? Thanks. |

Michael's script relies on the heading level attribute being correctly set in a separate column in the spreadsheet. Without this, any script you apply can only guess at what the hierarchy should be.
Some questions: 1. Did the TSV files originate from DOORS in the first place? 2. Are Object Text and Object Heading in separate columns in the spreadsheet? 3. Does the spreadsheet contain heading numbers in a separate column? If you can answer these there may be a solution. Once you have built the hierarchy the first time, you can then use the heading level attribute in all subsequent export/import cycles. ------------------------- Tony Goodman http://www.smartdxl.com |
