Hi All,
I've checked on the forums on partitions and on the online help but it's still unclear how I go about this, or even if it's possible. We're using DOORS 7.1, this is the scenario: Site A holds the "Home" Database. Site A then creates a partition containing two read-only versions of a couple of modules. Site B imports this partition (.par) file. (Let's call it the "Away Modules") Site B needs to link it's own Test Schedule modules up to these Away Modules (for our traceability). Site A updates the home database, perhaps changing requirement text, adding new requirements etc. Site A does another export of these modules. What I need to do it re-import this partition, thus updating our read-only copy, such that the links are preserved, i.e. we don't have to link all our Test Schedules to a new module. I thought this was possible but when I import for the second time it just says it already exists. All I need to do is maintain links to a read only copy of an away database, I don't want to mess about with Link by Attribute, does anyone know if this is possible? Cheers! Every time you get data back from site B you have to rejoin and then re-export the partition.
Site B stops work between sending a return and receiving a rejoin. Alternatively you could try having Site A sends an archive to site B Site B restores archive Site B holds the 'home' database Site B partitions out to Site A Site B sends regular synchronisation files All the permissions still work becuase you define it in the partition definition. The big political issue here is the idea that the subordiate site holds the master data. Hazel |
