![]() Answer: I'm not sure if the purge helped or not, but I haven't heard that she's continued to have the problem. As for the headings being messed up when I exported them to Word, it was because the style associated with the headings in DOORS was the wrong level. Once I fixed that, the export went fine. | |

I have a user that is experiencing a problem when she locks or unlocks a section for editing in a module opened for shareable editing. She gets a pop-up titled "DOORS Reports" that says there was an "unxepected internal error" and suggests that she saves and closes. Then a WinNT Dr. Watson error pops up and closes DOORS. She sees this mostly when unlocking a section, but has seen it at least once while locking a section. It does save her work, so this is currently more of a nuisance than a serious problem.
She is using the same setup as the majority of other users. We have DOORS 5.1 running PC clients and a Unix server. No one else has experienced this problem, but we have experienced problems with this module before, specifically, it has a tendency to export incorrect heading values to Word. We are in the opening stages of this project so this module has close to 12000 objects, at least two-thirds of which are soft-deleted. I can't help but think that the problem lies with that fact. Any thoughts? Thanks! ------------------------- Jeremy Eble Software Engineer Teragon Consulting LLC jeremy.r.eble@lmco.com |

This is probably of little use, but...
We had lots of problems when there were LOTS of soft-deleted objects. I think it had something to do with conflicting and very large paragraph numbers. Anyway, you might as well purge as many as you can. Objects that are "empty" (no heading nor text nor ole nor picture) are prime candidates. Also, I have some fleeting memory of problems associated with the following sequence: User A opens module M Shared. User B opens module M shared. User A locks section 1, modifies it, saves it, and unlocks it. Note that user B is now looking at an old version of section 1. User B now locks section 1, causing DOORS to crash. The solution is for B to use the Edit menu and open the module Read Only, then open it again Shared, THEN lock the section. While exporting, be sure to do NOT copy/pasting on the machine, since the export uses copy-to-clipboard and paste-from-clipboard commands to move the data. Leave the machine alone. Fire up the export then get a cup of coffee. - Louie |
