Hi,
We are currently starting a DOORS pilot and still on the up-side of the learning curve, so I apologize in advance if my questions seem odd. I'm looking for some enlightenment from more experienced users or other new users with a similar problem.

I am familiar with traditional databases, where a user can create a query that pulls information from joined tables and displays the result. The query can be saved and re-run at any time.  In a similar way, I would like to show attribute values from two different sibling modules combined at the parent level with information from the parent.  I was hoping to be able to create one view at the parent level that would both display attributes from its own module and pull and display attributes that are only contained within the linked child modules.

Is there a way to create views that cross modules?  Is this the best way to get what I'm after?

Thanks in advance for any advice, feedback or enlightenment you can offer.

What you need is a traceability column - which shows information from linked objects. You can insert traceability colums into views either by Analysis Wizard (in module menus select Analysis / Wizard) or from Layout DXL Library (in module menus select Insert / Column / Layout DXL / Browse). After these columns are inserted, you can save them with a view.

The Layout DXL Library contains so called layout scripts for example to trace information either from out-going or incoming links. There is e.g. scripts (Example trace nalaysis and Example impact analysis) to show specific attribute values from linked objects in the new column.
