The attached zip file contains DXL files to implement a new explorer for doors that displays module properties and relationships.

You will need to edit the smartExplorer.dxl file to enter the correct path for your installation. It can be run from a formal module or from the explorer.

Limitations:
It will only display relationships that are set up as link module descriptors (aka linkset pairings).

Incoming relationships are limited to module within the same project.

It makes use of the moduleProperties type, so it will only work on DOORS 8.2 or later.

Very nice Tony!

Any chance at getting a peek at the code? :-)

Only improvement I would suggest would be to add an edit button for the access rights area, making it available if the user has permissions to edit the access rights.

Geez Tony - that is an excellent piece of work - and now for a cathartic rant.....why oh why oh why can't Telelogic get this sort of Explorer GUI into their tool as an out-of-the-box feature? It should have there since version 5. Tony's example just saves so much time not having to open up modules to get information that should be readily accessible from the Explorer and without having to write mountains of robust DXL to get it.

Thanks - I feel a lot better now!!

I get these DXL when I run it in v8.1, even when Autodeclare is on:

-E- DXL: <c:\Doors-Stuff\Download\DXL\Scripts\smartExplorer.inc:6> badly formed token (EOF)
Included from:
<Line:13>
-E- DXL: <c:\Doors-Stuff\Download\DXL\Scripts\smartExplorer.inc:6> undeclared variable (cO)
Included from:
<Line:13>
-I- DXL: all done with 2 errors and 0 warnings

Cannot get my Decrypter to work ... err ... if I had one.

I am surprised at you Louie - you trying to run encrypted DXL directly?

You will get a "badly formed token EOF" error if you try to run encrypted dxl directly.
Encrypted DXL can only be run via a #include.

Also, the explorer only works on version 8.2 or later because it makes use of the new moduleProperties type.

Thanks david, I agree that adding edit for access rights would be a good improvement.

I also want to add a facility to create linkset pairings using the GUI.

But, as this is one of my "coffee-break projects" that I get to work on intermittently, I doubt if it will get improved in the near future :-(

By the way Tony. The way you mention the "relationships" portion of it, I assumed that meant it showed modules that you had defined explicit linkset pairings to from the selected module. But nothing shows up for me in the relationships area. So what exactly is that part supposed to show me?

Am running the text *.dxl file that issues the include. Cannot test in v8.2 since IT seems to have taken the license server down.

Is it possible that v8.1 uses a different encryption algorithm than v8.1?

This explorer looks veery interesting.
But like David above, I cannot get any relationships to be displayed, if I have linkset pairings defined or not.
What am I missing?
