what is your definition of an inactive user? I believe you meant user here and not DOORS.

Sorry,  I worded my question wrong.  I meant to say is there a way to delete inactive Doors users that have not logged into Doors for a period of time?

Delete users from DOORS is the easy part.

To determine an inactive user you can...

1) Scan the DOORS Users lists to determine who has never logged in

2) Run a query against FlexLM to determine who has has logged in after a certain date

3) Parse the DOORS "login_history.txt" file assuming it is enabled. To parse the file, you can use this script: http://www.galactic-solutions...._Login_History_10.zip

So, once you define what an inactive user is the rest is straightforward.

Reply back if you want futher assistance.

How do you scan DOORS Users list to determine who has not logged in? Do I need to create a code for this? I haven't encountered this on the menu options.

From the DOORS help file...

quote:

Understanding the login history file
The DOORS database server can keep a record of every:

Login failure
Successful login
By default, the database server only records login failures. To control what information is logged, see Changing the login policy.

The database server logs the information in a text file called login_history.txt in the database's logs folder.

On Windows, the ServerData entry in the registry (default location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Telelogic\DOORS_Server\7.1\Config) points to the folder that contains the logs folder.

On Solaris, the login_history.txt file is stored in $SERVERDATA/v6data/logs.

To show the login history, open the login_history.txt file in a text editor, such as Notepad, WordPad, or Emacs.

Note: The login history file may get quite big. You should regularly monitor its size and, if necessary, delete it (first copy it to another location, if you want to preserve the information). DOORS automatically creates a new login history file in the logs folder.

As I do not have access to the login history file on the server, I get a copy of the .txt file every month. I maintain a running Excel file of the login history for one year and update this Excel file with the data from the login history file. I update the DOORS users list every month in a separate Excel file. Then I run a VBA script to record the latest login date of each DOORS user based on the two Excel files.
