Answer:
Hi Mark,

you can specify the displayed attribut for each cell in a Doors table via DXL.
Therfore you need to modify the

(reserved "Main Column Attribute")

attribute of each table cell.

See attached code for an example.

Is it possible to have one column of a table display an attribute and another column display a different attribute? For example column 1 is an object text and column 2 is a DXL attribute.

Usually I would just avoid using a table in this situation and assign the data to different attributes but I've inherited a word document with these tables mixed in and parsing them into attributes would be a very large endeavor.  Alternatively, any suggestions for importing a word document with tables that vary in structure are also welcome

As far as I am aware tables can only display the object heading and object text attributes.  What's new in DOORS 8.2 discussess new table support including:

Configure tables to display relevant attributes along with different module views

This should mean dxl attributes could be used enabling a whole host of possibilities in each table cell, column or row.

DOORS tables byte. I routinely select then cut the word table, then insert a word document, and paste the table therein. That makes word look about the same. When imported, however, the table comes in as a OLE diagram, all in a single DOORS object. That makes is significantly prettier but you cannot do searches nor filters based on the table's content.
