Anybody know how to make a "fileName" DBE, when the user pushes [Browse...]. to accept a FOLDER rather than only accepting files?

That is, my DXL is interested in file-system folders. Right now I use fileName, tell the user to select a file INSIDE the target folder, and then I strip away the file name part. I'd rather they were able to simply select the folder.

Louie,

Did you ever find a solution to this?

If Gallion suggested it I'm sure it would work, but I've never dealt with Tree Views and don't feel like spending a full week learning it.

As it happens, over the last day I did a bit of tinkering (also never having played with Tree Views before) and managed to cobbled something together! I can't seem to use the browser to attach the DXL, so if you send me an email (see above address) I attach it to the reply.

It took me several goes to successfully attach a file to one of these messages. The non-intuitive bit is having to hit the 'upload' button AND the 'attach file' button. The sequence is:

1. Hit 'Attach file(s)' next to the Attachments box.
2. Browse to the file to upload from the new window.
3. Hit 'Upload file' -- the file appears in the list in the window.
4. Select the file in the list in the window.
5. Hit 'Attach file'
6. Hit 'Close window'

And that's how I got the trivial file attached herewith.

PS. If you delete the file form the list in the window, it will disappear from the post you attached it to. Which is why there isn't a file attached herewith anymore!

Hi:

I am in looking for exactly this feature:  a DBE that allows me to select a file folder. If anyone has it available, i would be much appreciated it.

You can find a directory selector utility on the smartDXL website:
