Hello -

We have several modules that represents a single document.  I know that there is Shareable Edit but it made sense for us to split them.  So the problem is that we need sequential section numbering:
Module 1, for instance, contains 1, 2, 3.1 and Module 2 contains 3.2.  In order to make this work, we have empty sections 1, 2, 3,1 in Module 2.  This is not a very pretty solution but we could not figure out how to tell DOORS 7.1 to start a module at 3.2 (Level 2).

Is there any way to tell DOORS 7.1 where to start the section numbering?  Maybe some module-level property?

Any feedback is appreciated!
Joachim

No.

The section number is calculated based on object's position in hierarchy. The only way you can influence that is by moving the object to another position.

Hello - Thanks for your reply. I realize that the section number defines the position of the object but so does the heading number in Word. I just think that would be a nice feature but oh well ... Thanks, Joachim

You can create the view you want using a filter.
In your second module, create a filter that includes the object 3.2.
Include descendants, but exclude ancestors.
Save this in a view and set the view to be the default for the module.
