Answer:
Excellent,

I don't get any info in "Help/About" but the GetEnv() did the trick.

Cheers!

Hi all,

A user was having problems with his DOORS installation saying he got an error message saying "Couldn't Connect to Server 36677@<IP_ADDRESS>. I said I'd find out what the correct address was but, because my system is heavily locked down (no Regedit, no "DOORS Tools" etc.) I'm having trouble finding this out!?

Any ideas how I can return the IP address of the active server? i.e. 36677@xxx.xx.xxx.xxx I've checked the on-line help but can't access it via Control Panel/Add Remove Programs etc.

Any help appreciated!

Kind regards,

Robert

Check the about tab on help menu or use

either
print getenv("DATA")
or
print getenv("DOORSDATA")

So what is the difference between "DATA" and "DOORSDATA"?
I'm geting my test database server for "DATA" and the production database server for "DOORSDATA"

One reads what database is opened by the default which is listed in the registry

Other reads what database is loaded from the command switch arguments

Yes, and that makes DOORSDATA the actual one connected to and therefore its the one that should be used in the query. BTW, it returns accurately even when there is no command line switch override.
