I'm delving into User Defined Properties (DXL manual section 'Group and user management') for a script and I figured I need another script which can manage these things for all users in the database; in this case I can set debug values to see how my main script reacts. I notice that some standard tools use these User Defined Properties; here are the 4 I've found:
"CPS Member" "DOORSnet Guest" "DOORSnet configure rights" "DOORSnet publish rights" Its important that my management script protect such properties, so I need to know which ones they are. I'm asking for help finding other known Standard Properties. Perhaps Synergy or Change or some other tools set standard properties. Please run the attached, [Cancel] the initial prompt, and report the Properties found in your database. Here's what I get: Property Names in the Database ' MLM_Mess2' ' MLM_Mess2 ' 'AAA' 'CPS Member' <- Known Standard Property 'MLM_Mess2' 'MLM_Once' 'TimeTest' - Louie |

I got:
'DOORSnet configure rights' <- Known Standard Property But you already knew about that one ![]() While I'm thinking about it, I'd like to hear about your experiences using user properties. I was looking into using them to set custom user options, etc., but discovered much to my dismay that standard users can't set these for themselves?? The idea was to have a GUI to set options, which would run some DXL in the background to set custom user properties. But no go, unless I was doing something wrong. Yes, so far Standard user may read their own Properties but cannot set them. Yes, when I found that out I used words like 'dismay' and 'alas', as well as few others. Discovered that when I was trying to simulate a database login trigger, figuring the code could update the 'lastest login date' property.
Also, nobody but the Administrator may set the Administrator's properties. I'm not quite sure the relationship between these properties and 'loadDirectory' and 'loadUserRecord'. Options are set as 'confUser' configuration files, but its a bit of a chore for admins to be able to tweak the options for a user, since they have to read another config file to find a particular user's config options. Not too thrilled with them so far. - Louie |
