I am interested in building an interface to DOORs from a web based application. I would like for the user to be able to click on a link to the desired document and the document is exported from DOORs into a repository that can be viewed by the user. The question is what is the best way to do this? If you could provide some examples on how it has been done in the past that would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

Save yourself some time, money and tears - have you had a look at the DOORSNet product? I refer to it in training as DOORSLite and seems to be popular amongst users who only occasionally need to use DOORS and perhaps may need to review and submit change requests, or apply some basic changes.

I have built a two-way interface to DOORS using cgi PERL and a stylesheet.

The interface lists tasks allocated to one responsible. The tasks are taken from a very large module containing tasks (organised hierarchically).

The interface allows for sorting by a selected column.

The path in the hierarchy is also included.

The interface allows for tracking the time spent and the time remaining on a task either by starting a timer or just entering the
hours used. The hours remaining and the hours used are written to the doors db from the web solution.

Unfortunately this code stopped working when I migrated from 6.0 SP1 to 7.0

We are trying to use DOORSNet instead.

I like DOORSNet and the ability to create views in there. But the performance is poor. I haven't yet found any good solution to this. Actually I find DOORSNet unfit for use with its current performance.

So for now we are using DOORSNet only for capturing incoming change requests.

I would be nice to use it a lot more. But our own developers find it too slow.

I might post the code and screenshots here later. But I would have to anonymise some screenshots to do so. Haven't got the time for that right now - sorry.
