We're trying to install DOORS (client piece) on our Tool Servers (where all work is done). We have the database on a separate server. Where does the license.dat file go? (on the database server or on the client servers). Do I need another type of license.dat file to make the connection. I'm getting an error. FlexNet Licensing error 96.7; system error 1104; valid name, but no record (NO_ADDDRESS).

Hi. from my experience in this configuration, the license should be on the database server. It is also possible to install it on a license server, if you have one, where all the licenses are installed.
Use the DOORS configuration tool to point the data to the database server and the license setup and license configuration tool to point to the license server (which may be the database server, but different port).

Hi Karen,
AFAIK the Flex LM License is build for exactly one host to run, so it will depend on the information you gave to Telelogic to create this license.dat file. Is it a test license or a bought one? Test licenses are usually for client PC, "real" bought licenses are mostly used on Flex LM licnese server on server side.
