How do you all tie/link your requirements (if at all). We define defects as a failure to meet a requirement (such as a bug or incorrect implementation) and issues are situations that cause a requirement to change or be added/deleted.
Our Change Management group has adopted ClearQuest w/ClearCase and I know Telelogic has some integration with those but would like to hear what you all do ? Cheers Chris |

At Tenix Defence Australia, we use Telelogic's Change Synergy product which integrates with DOORS rather nicely but you don't always have to have an electronic integration.
As long as the Change Management tool that you're using applies a unique ID to each submitted change/defect/issue you can insert this UID into a column within doors and this will provide adequate traceability back to the approved change orders. At a previous employer (Fujitsu), we did this with ClearQuest and DOORS and it worked fine - whenever an author received an approved defect/change request from ClearQuest, this would be presented to the DOORS DB Manager who would then re-instate the authors write access to the associated specification module. Before a baseline was cut, all applied changes were checked by running a ClearQuest query to report on all current approved defect/change requests for that particular specification. If OK, the baseline was cut. ------------------------------------------ Paul Miller Tenix Specification Practices Project, Tenix Defence Nelson House, Williamstown, Victoria, Australia, 3016.
