Answer:
The search and replace dialog is run in the top context which means that all the variables used are globally available. This allows the following dirty hack to be used to get what you are after.

Edit DOORSHOME/lib/dxl/standard/search/search.dxl and add the code below to the bottom of the file.

Make sure you make a copy of the original file beforehand and I strongly recommend that you do not deploy this anywhere other other than on your own client machine. Like I said, this is a dirty hack.

I frequently use the "Find and Replace" utility of DOORS to search for a requirement by "Object Identifier". (Shortcut Key: Ctrl-F) The annoying thing about the DOORS "Find and Replace" utility however, is that every time I open and close the Find window, I have to recheck the "Object Identifier" box if I want to search for a new "Object Identifier". Does anyone know of a way to change which boxes are checked by default when the Find window comes up? Over the long run this could add up to a decent time savings... Thanks!

If you are looking for the object by identifier then use Goto (Ctrl-G) and enter the absolute number of the object.

You cannot change the default selections in the find/replace dialog because the DXL is encrypted.
