I moved a section from 3.2.5.1.4 to 3.2.6, but the object number did not update in the object. The same problem is affecting all sub-sections to this object. I know that I moved it to the correct level and location because the module explorer shows the correct heading number. When I go to the property sheet on the object, the object number is still 3.2.5.1.4. That value is not part of the object heading or object text. I was using the Unix client on DOORS 7sp1, but when someone uses the Windows client, it still doesn't update itself. Any ideas? Thanks!

Additional: I just looked at the problem again and saw something exceptionally strange. When I go to the module explorer and click on the object for 3.2.6, it brings me to 3.2.5.1.4. But if I go to 3.2.7 and scroll up, I see the correct thing. If I select 3.2.6 and then click on it in the module explorer, it takes me back to 3.2.5.1.4. It's like a weird ghost copy of itself.

Yes, the "number" is not a true attribute; its an assigned value based on its position in the hierarchy.

Never heard of this. Are there two objects (i.e. you "copied" instead of "moved")? when you select the object are you still in section 3.2.6 or do you jump to 3.2.5.1.4? You shouldn't be able to move objects while there is any filter or sort active; but maybe you managed to do it? Do you manage to move an undeleted object under a deleted one? If you save and close and reopen do you still see the same thing? Wanna practice that on a restored archive first? Are you drunk? Can you paste a screen shot?

In the words of Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, "Drunk is more fun." This definitely wasn't a copy. I thought that at first, but it doesn't explain why the module explorer would send me to the wrong place. I wasn't filtering, sorting, or showing deleted objects at the time of the move.

I was able to delete section 3.2.5.1.4 without it deleting 3.2.6 (which is obviously normal). I then saved and closed the module. When I opened it back up and clicked on section 3.2.6, it took me to the object before the new section 3.2.5.1.4. In other words, it was still looking for the deleted section.

Except for that, the module looks okay for now. I'll keep an eye on it, but I'm going to go with the philosophy that time heals all wounds and just hope that something we do in the future corrects the problem.
