Hi

We have a very large file and many users complain that working with it is very slow. It contains vast quantity of objects, and attributes.

Does anyone has any suggestions of speed enhancement?

If possible:
- purge deleted objects
- create a new baseline for the module to empty history
- delete unneeded Layout DXL's and DXL attributes from views, at least from the default view

Alex, could you explain why users say it is slow? What functions are they running when they feel the module is slow, for example. I feel it is best to share more detail information for us to assist you with this matter.

Alex,

Based on info given, it appears that views your users are switching to causes DOORS to open additional modules that may have default views that take a long time to open because their default views additionally open other modules. (specially, layout dxls with links to other modules)

DOORS will run fastes when the default views are kept as simple as possible.

Standard view is relatively simple but then if you really want fast you can make the default view simpler than the Standard view.

If one wanted to be mischievous it would be possible to create a view that opened every module in the database extending the time to switch view. Then for good measure the view could request includes that didn't exists which would increase the time to open the view. etc.,

Alex:

Do any of these views have any "Layout DXL" columns associated with them?
