I am trying to use an existing module as a template, but do not want any object text and such filled in. How do I do this?
Thanks, Peter O. |

So in effect you want to copy only the heading objects?
In DOORS 8.3 (similar functions were in earlier DOORS versions called "Clone module"): - select your module to be used as template in DOORS database window - copy the module (Edit / Copy) - select Edit / Paste special and use the default of copy copy objects with Object Heading) ------------------------- Pekka.Makinen@softqa.fi SoftQA Oy -http://www.softqa.fi/ |

Hi Peter,
If you only want to copy the types, attributes, views, columns, etc, of the current module, check out cloning. You can select the module you want to use as a template for the copy and select Edit->Clone... This will open up a dialog and you can choose what you want to copy across to a new module. You can, if you want clone the actual objects as well, but as you stated, that's not what you want. You can choose to Clone only "Objects with object heading". This will do the same as Pekka suggested, but will also ensure more control over the types, attributes, views, etc, that you copy along. Hope that helps. Regards, Marcel |

Clone module function is in Edit / Clone up to DOORS version 8.1. The later versions (from DOORS 8.2 onwards) have the same functionality named as Paste special.

Thanks for the update, Pekka.
Time to get a newer client... ![]() ... and glasses, beacause I see now you mentioned the 'Clone' function already. Oops, sorry... ![]() Marcel |
