Answer:
OK, so I've been on some doctor prescribed medicine this week which make things a lot more complicated for me. I re-read the posts above and it instantly clicked as to what I was doing wrong. I have fixed it now and we are exporting the correct styles. Thanks for all your help and putting up with a drugged up, yet pain free, engineer!!!!

I have a module in DOORS v7.1 (yes, I know, but don't get me started) that I'm trying to export so that the Figure caption objects will have a pre-defined style of "Figure". The style is defined in the Word Template and is set in the module using the Paragraph Style attribute. However, when the module is exported to Word, and the "Use Paragraph Style" option is selected, the objects we want to change to the Figure style, still export with the Normal style.

So, can anyone help me out with what I'm doing wrong? Does this feature simply not work in v7.1? Is there some other setting that I'm missing?

Thanks.

Probable answer is based on behavior of DOORS export. When DOORS exports any style that is not found in word, DOORS stops trying to match Paragraph Styles.

(i.e., You have to have every style defined in your template or DOORS gets tired real fast.)

Just in case. The Paragraph Style attribute contains values that look like one of these:

<Object Heading:Heading 1>
<Object Text:List Number>

... depending on whether the object contains Heading or Text. If it contains both, then put both of those directives in the attribute without any separatation between then: "><".

You also need to be careful about leading and trailing spaces in the name:

<Object Text: List Number>

is not the same as the one above since it has a leading space. Leading and Trailing spaces should likewise be checked carefully in MS-Word when looking at the styles.

Ron, I set every value for Paragraph Style in the module (luckily it is a small module) to ensure that they match the template. The text and headers come out just fine, but I still cannot get it to produce that Figure Style in the export.

Louie, Where would the values that you indicate be located? Also, I am not wanting to change the style in Word for all the objects, just a few selected ones. And I checked for leading and trailing spaces, but came up empty there. Thanks for the tip, though.

So, what was the problem and what did you do to fix it? That is, if your drug induced hysteria hasn't caused you to forget it already.

Eeeehhhh, where can I get some?
