What is the best way to define a common base of requirements that apply to a family of equipments (up to 5 variants), each variant requiring multiple functionnal baselines.
We estimate that around 70 % of common requirements are shared by the family.
The other requirements will be specific to one or more variants.

We are DOORS beginners.

The best way is to get your group to hire contract engineers that know how to do this -- Worst way is to get some generalized ideas from the web about a new tool and then proceed into the wilderness.

Don't start with "How will DOORS do this?", start with "How do I do this with just pen and paper?" then go to "How can DOORS help me with the problems that process causes me?".
