I need to import a word document that contains tables but then I want to convert the tables to objects instead of having each cell assigned an ID.
Some of the tables in this document are setup so the header is in column 1, row 1-x and the data is in column 2, row 1-x. It's a strange setup, but would require alot of rework to manually convert. For example: File Test.c Test2.c Function MyTest MyTest2 Author A. Brown C. Walters Date 12/1/2006 11/5/2007 I need a DXL script that would convert Column 2 and Column 3 to objects and use the text in Column 1 as attribute text. I've used the DXL script to convert rows to objects, but I can't find anything to do the same for columns to objects. I tried modifying the DXL script for rows to objects, but I'm just not experienced enough with DXL. |

It probably would be easier to write a VBA macro and convert the tables in Word, then export the document to DOORS and use the dxl to convert the table rows to objects with attributes.

You can copy the tables to Excel, then use the copy > paste special to transpose the table then move them back to word. HTH

The attached code is a quick hack for transposing a DOORS table. It actually does not transpose the table but creates a new, transposed table below the current table.
You can either transpose your tables and then convert them to objects, or use the code as a basis for your own code which directly creates the desired objects. Please note that the code - has not been tested - does not check access rights - does not check the integrity of the table - ignores rich text - ...
