In DOORS 5.2 you could setup a local database with the following switch:
"C:\Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS_8.0\bin\doors.exe" -data "C:\Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS_8.0" However, in DOORS 8.0 using this switch gives you the following error: "Illegal hostname in "C:\Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS_8.0" Does anyone know if you can still do this in 8.0? |

The -data command line switch will no longer accept a file path, only a port@server string.
The way to install a local database is to install DOORS (I think ithe option is called full server installation - can't remember exactly because they keep changing the options). Choose a data port number that does not clash with your main doors server. After installation, doors will default to your local database. To connect to the database on the server, create a desktop shortcut and add a -data switch with the correct port@server string for your main doors database. ------------------------- Tony Goodman http://www.smartdxl.com |

I have just setup a local database on my PC and created a shortcut to it using -d port@computer name.
