I am using v8.0 and getting ready to upgrade to v9.1. However, there is a Project folder that has been deleted (NOT purged) that needs to be un-deleted, but the 'Undelete' function doesn't seem to be working.

I've tried logging in as Administrator and running the Integrity Checker, but to no avail. It seems to me that it should only be an issue of getting a hold of a lock file on the server and cleaning it out, but, everything I've looked for and tried hasn't worked for me yet.

I need to clear up and undelete this Project folder before upgrading, so as not to migrate any residuals. I'm also trying to avoid going to a backup copy of the database to restore the Project, due to all the links that could be inter-twined.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Kim

My guess is that you are using 'Project View' which shows all projects at the 'root' level; but this project is really inside some other folder/project that is also deleted. You cannot undelete an item in a deleted project/folder.

You can change to 'Database View' (via the view menu) and then find your project. You can select the project and run the attached simple DXL to help find the project in Database view, which produces something like this:

Project: <sNew Project> is really stored here: </Testing/sNew Project>

If I am right, you will need to undelete the parent project/folder, move this project elsewhere, then re-delete that parent.

Louie,

Thanks much for your suggestion. Unfortunately, (or fortunately...) my default view IS the Database View. This Project is at the top level, and what I find interesting is that I can open it and see the deleted folders/files inside of it. (I would have thought that the folder would have to be undeleted to be able to open it...).

Any other possibilities? I'm at a loss.... :-\

Thanks again,
Kim

What exactly does 'not working' mean? Is it greyed out? Do you get an error message? Did you say the Aministrator cannot undelete it?

To undelete, you have to have the item selected in the RIGHT pane.

Perhaps you can try the attacked to undelete it with DXL.

'Not working' means that while in the Administrator account and when I select the already X'd-out Project folder in the right-hand pane, then right-click it to 'Undelete' it (it is NOT greyed out), it does not Undelete.

I've also tried running the script you posted, and still nothing....

Louie,

Thanks a million for your persistence. I've finally gotten it to undelete, after having rebooted the server for the 3rd(?) time....

Your help is much appreciated.
