Answer:
Module found.
As ron suggests it had been moved to another project.
Found by following links sourced in the 'missing' module.
I'll just go and write some dxl to list all modules in the database ready for the next time this happens.

I'm canvassing for views/comments here.
We are running DOORS 7.1, and today one project lost a module.
The module was present in the database view this morning, then when someone tried to open it, there was some screen activity, (no record of what it was), then the database view no longer showed the module name.

Objects with links to that module still have the link, but report it as 'not present'.

My belief is that somehow the file contents were corrupted, to such an extent that when DOORS tried to open the file it just threw it away and deleted it from the database.

We can probably retrieve the module from our daily backups, but is going to be painful.

My Questions are:-
1) Will DOORS remove from the db view a module it decides is corrupt?
2) If not, what else might be the cause?
3) Any suggections on how to prevent this occuring again?

Do you have view>Show Deleted Items selected on your client machine.

If not -- someone may have just deleted the module.

I Should have said, that's the first thing I checked. It's totally gone, Most users don't have purge privilege either.

I would have to agree with Ron, that the module may have been deleted and Show Deleted Items is not selected.

You could also try running a database integrity check and check the Lost and Found directory for the module.

A user with two left hands could always move the object to another folder and delete a module. Moving the module would account for the screen flicker.

You could also use the DOORS Tools/Find (in database window) tool to find a specific module in the database.
