Answer:
Silly me.
I should have looked more closely.
It's not different from hiding a drop down menu entry in baseWindowMenu.inc.
Sorry for bothering.

Hi all,

does anybody know how to hide a menu icon?
I do know how to hide an entry in a drop down menu, say the "manage users" command, but I would like to hide the icon too.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Karl

Hi Karl,

Well, if it is the "Manage Users" Menu selection you would like to hide (or disable), I believe the way to do that is to setup the user as a "Standard User". That would mean the user has no ability to manage users. Even a custom user with the "Create users" checkbox unchecked should take care of that option.

Hiding menu selections themselves is not something that I believe is possible. The best you may be able to do is to "disable" the selection. I'm not sure how to disable any of the standard DOORS Menu selections.

Hi Douglas,

thanks for your response.
The point is, we have our own tool to manage user groups, which enables project managers to add users to or to remove users from a group. But they cannot create, rename, disable or delete a group using this tool. They can still do this the standard DOORS way, but I do not want them to.
I want them to only use this tool for user group management. That's why I want to hide (but not disable) the standard DOORS functionality for all but database managers.
