Hi all,

creating new top level menus with projectaddins reg-key or via command line switch somehow does not work for me.
I only managed to create new top level menus using a script in baseWindowMenuFiles folder.

Has anybody else had this problem or can comment on this?

Your problem is probably due to the structure of the dxl files.

There are very specific rules as to the format of the dxl files used to create menus.

To create a menu called fred, you need a folder called fred immediately below the projectaddins path, which must contain a fred.hlp and a fred.idx file.

The folder must contain at least one dxl file.

Each dxl file must begin with a single line comment followed by a multiline comment.

See "The DXL Library and Addins menus" in the DXL reference manual.

One addition to Tony's reply: do the DXL files form a menu if you try use them through the addins switch (i.e. trying to form a menu in the modules)?

Thanks Tony, Pekka,
the trick was, that the projectaddins folder itself needs the .hlp and .idx files, which from the documentation had not become clear to me.

Yes. Those hlp files, btw, show up when browing module addins using the "DXL Library..." function, in the Tools meny right below DXL Editor. The first line of the hlp is viewable along side the folder name, and the rest of the hlp is viewable if you open that folder.

Notice the Project addins do NOT appear in that library, unless like me you define your project addins also in your normal (module) addins.
