You can change all of the menus in DOORS with the exception of the popup that appears after a drag-and-drop operation.

The menus for formal modules are created by doorsHome/lib/dxl/config/formal.dxl.

Menu options are created using the createItem() function.

This allows you to create a new menu option, control its availability and have a DXL script run when it is selected.

Make sure that you make a backup copy of formal.dxl before diving in!


If you are using DOORS 6 or later, a better and safer approach is to leave the built-in menus alone and add new menus by including a script in the doorsHome/lib/dxl/config/formalFiles folder.

DXL files in the formalFiles folder are automatically executed by the following line in formal.dxl:

autoRunDXLFolder("lib/dxl/config/formalfiles")

This method also allows you to control when the menu appears or is available, so you can have custom menu for different module types or groups of users for example.
