Answer:
Ah ha! Thank you for pointing out that button. I was going to the Properties dialog by right clicking the module in the DOORs explorer, and selecting Properties from the menu. When you do that, the list of module names and values is blank. When you view the properties by clicking the button next to the print button, the list is populated. It also works when going to the File menu, and selecting Module Properties.

Definitely a bug in DOORs.

I may be overlooking something simple, but I am not able to set or change the "Prefix" for an existing module. How can this be done? It is not documented in any of the help.

As I recall:-

From either within in the Module window, click File>Module Properties, or from the DOORs Explorer, select the module in the r/h pane, then right-click properties.

In the dialogue that appears, select prefix from the list and click the Edit button, and change it as required. This assumes you have the permissions to edit - you can see if you have from the Access tab on the dialogue.

Also, if you go to Edit, Attributes, the module attribute prefix is also there, and can be edited.

I've tried both of those methods. The Module Properties dialog does not show the Prefix in any of the tabs. When Editing the "Prefix" attribute within the module, all options are grayed out. It doesn't show the current prefix value anywhere except when viewing it in the "ID" column. I'm using DOORs 7.1, and have full Admin access, and have the modules opened in Exclusive edit mode. The only way I have found to set the Prefix is when you initially create the module.

Thanks for your help!

Time for two silly questions:
1. Are you looking at the Module Proerties dialogue (the button is next to the 'Print' button) or the Object Properties dialogue (the button is between the 'New object below' and 'Delete object' buttons)? Prefix is only in the Module Properties dialogue, General tab.
2. Have you scrolled the attributes box down on the General tab of the Module Properties dialogue? Prefix is at the bottom of my list (entry 9), but there's only 7 entries displayed.

I agree, you can't change any of the system-generated module attributes via the Edit/Attributes dialogue, whatever privileges you've got. It's worth checking that you've got the rights you think you have -- click on the 'Access' tab of the Module Properties dialogue and check what it says next to 'Access rights for <your name>:'. It says RMCDA for me, and I can change the prefix.

Paul.

I don't think it's a bug in DOORS. If you right click on the module and select properties, you haven't got the module open, and someone else might have. Changing the properties under those circumstances could lead to conflict or corruption. It seems sensible (if not particularly well documented) to me.
