Greetings!

Has anyone used DXL to control OLE operations through Word to print PDF documents via Acrobat Distiller?

When generated through our automation, we have nicely formatted Word documents and would like to generate them ‘as is’ in PDF format; where the Word and PDF documents are available to different customers. Once the document has been generated and ‘SaveAs” to Word, I’d like to select the ‘Acrobat Distiller’ printer and generate a PDF document as well.

With OLE automation I can control ‘Printout’ properties, but ‘Acrobat Distiller‘ places a third tab of controls on the ‘Printer Properties’ dialog that OLE automation just doesn’t seem to see; and then there is setting the ‘Active Printer’ = ‘Acrobat Distiller’

Going through Word to generate the document may not be the correct path, but re-engineering DXL to interface with another application to generate the same document seemed far more expensive.

Any thoughts?

Force a print to file (postscript) from dxl and just have distiller set to auto scan and distill anything that appears in the postscript directory and place it in a pdf directory.

Roger,

I tried that. But the Acrobat Distiller option changes don't appear in the code. That's what I was hoping some one had an idea about. The other possibility is defining a Word macro and executing it from DXL.

Thoughts?
