Answer:
Thanks all.
I gather that there is nothing "special" about the WEXP attributes, so I'll just create the ones I need using a script.

WEXP creates custom attributes (i.e. WEXP Template) the first time it is run within a module. Is there an easy way to trigger this attribute generation from within a dxl script?

I'm assuming someone has done this or something similar. It seems like convincing WEXP to do its normal creation is a better solution than manually creating the Attributes or training the users to run WEXP before running the setup scripts.

So far I've tried:
1) eval_("#include <addins/WEXP/include/wexpload.inc>"), which creates the attributes, but leaves the dialog box open (also I would need to add a delay after it is called)
2) various forms of #includes and/or eval_ of the WEXP .inc files (startup.inc, attribs.inc, wexportdefs.inc etc.) with either dxl errors or no attribute generation - I suspect from the documentation that the attributes I'm interested in are in startup.inc

It's not a show stopper, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks
Todd

Todd,

the best solution would probably be to write your own dxl that creates the attributes and saves the ones most often used in a view and to add this dxl to the WEXP menu.

Todd, all solutions are not based on dxl.

You can teach your users to import the attributes. From the add Attribute pulldown menu.

The WEXP attributes are all standard - irrespective of the module.

So one alternative is to copy the attributes from a module that has been WEXP'd (and has the WEXP attributes) to the new module. This can be undertaken simply by the users using the import button on the Edit attributes screen. Alternatively write a dxl script just to copy the WEXP attributes.

You might also want to copy a WEXP Set up view - for that use Michael Sutherland (http://www.galactic-solutions....GalacticDownloads.htm) or David Pechacek (http://www.baselinesinc.com/?page_id=11) copy views.
