I am importing some legacy documents that already have attributes. I've saved them out to a plain text file, then munged them into a tab delimited text file using a perl script. All the information imports nicely, except I don't know how to set the object level. I've tried creating an "object level" column, but it doesn't seem to recognize that.

The plain text importer is smart enough to determine the object level based off of number, but the spreadsheet importer won't do that for numbers in the header column.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Andrew

I have a MSWord file that Telelogic sent me that explains how to import spreadsheets and also includes a DXL file that will place the objects at the correct level based on an attribute called "Outline Level". The DXL code needs to be run after the data is imported.

I am not sure how to attach a file in the forum, so if you are interested you can email me with your email address and I will send it to you. My email is:

For how to attach a file to a post, see thread DBE fileName take a folder in DXL exchange.

I do not have a button that says 'Attach file(s)' on my window. I only have:

- Reply to Thread
- Preview
- Attach Code
- Cancel

Oh. It's gone! I swear it was there when I posted that reply. I suspect the forums have been 'upgraded' beyond the need to upload files...

My apologies for misleading you -- although in my defence, it must have been there fairly recently for me to have posted the file attached to thread Edit Attributes Across Modules.

I knew you could do it -- I have seen your previous posts -- I just could not figure out how based on the buttons I had.

Anyway, Andrew emailed me so I sent the file directly to him.

Thanks anyway!

As far as I can see, the DXL Exchange has an attach file button but this General Discussion forum does not.

Oops. Must remember to check my facts before I go firing off complaints...

Thanks for the pointer, Louie.
