We recently upgraded to DOORS 8.3. I am having trouble getting the WEXP utillity to work correctly. I tried what I think are the obvious directory and file checks to make sure it was called correctly.

The error I get is:

"Can not extract path name from C:\Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS_8.3\bin\T2_SRD.doc

When taking some training recently, our Telelogic rep. suggested that WEXP has been "disabled" in version 8.3. Like any good patient, I'm looking for a second opinion before I abondon using WEXP, as it is very useful.

Does anyone run WEXP right now in version 8.3? Has anyone else seen this type of error message? Its certainly possible I need to do something more with the dxl or the file locations, but not sure what that is.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.........Stephen

It still works, but you need to change the initial backslash to a forward slash -- but leave all the others as backslashes.

So try C:/Program Files\Telelogic\DOORS_8.3\bin\T2_SRD.doc

I have an inkling suspicion that WEXP will be "broken" in DOORS 9.

I have no data to back this up, just a feeling.

Yep - I'm in agreement with Kevin, WEXP is a lame duck as it was never intended to be what it has become (there's a l lot of history behind how WEXP "escaped" into the world).

Believe it or not, I've only ever come across exceptional circumstances where WEXP just had to be used. In all other cases, it was possible, and easier, to take full advantage of the Portable Document Format (PDF) and just use the built-in print features that come with DOORS.
