Did you know that you can use an Object Index Number to get a handle on child objects.
I can't actually think of a use for this, I just thought it was interesting. Object o = current Object Object p = o[1] // returns first child of o p = o[2] // returns second child of o p = o[1][2] // returns second child of first child of o Also works for modules p = m[2] // returns second level 1 object in module m ------------------------- Tony Goodman http://www.smartdxl.com |

Old news. But you could use if for scripts that care about the immediate children of an object, such as one that checks the hierarchy structure to insure all the TEXT children come before all the HEADING children. Another would be checking that all the children of a deleted object are in fact deleted themselves. I wrote those scripts from the child's perspective (if child is text then its immediate older sibling must be Text; and if an object is undeleted then its parent must be undeleted), but that was just choice.
Looks like you could use this to insert a new text object after all the other text subordinates of an object; but before the sub-section subordinates. - Louie |
