I am trying to compare two baselines.

My ultimate goal is to create two scripts:
One that creates a list of differences between a before and an after baseline (in CSV format, etc.)
A Second that will apply those changes to a mirror image of the before baseline.

Any ideas, scripts, etc.?

Thanks!!

I see (from your guy's posts) that I can do Baseline->Compare.  This gives me a good human-readable view of the changes.  I could probably use visual basic or DXL to convert this text to machine readable commands such as

"change heading for object 121 to 'Heading 3.1.1'"

Has anyone else ever done this?  Any ideas?

Thanks again,

Hi. As I was looking for similar topics, I found out in the help area in dxl.chm some informations about comparing baselines. I think you can find a very nice example there.

If you are implying that the baseline compare tool that comes with DOORS is rubbish you are most certainly correct. I have generated an alternative that compares any two attributes in any baseline or the current then either outputs the results to an attribute or a csv or a color rtf file. I'm not allowed to give these things away but generating a script like mine would involve: -

1) a dialog with "Old stuff" on the left and "New stuff"on the right, where you you select a baseline or the current for the old and new and then an attribute for each
2) generate skip lists for the objects in the chosen baselines/ current keyed into by the absolute number
3) use the diff command to find out which objects have changed/ are only present in one or other baseline
4) use the results of the diff command to either generate a report, an attribute, an rtf file or a csv.

May sound a bit tricky but its only about 500 lines of code, and you may want to forget about the rtf file bit if you are not familiar with the rtf standard.

Hi Shawn,

I guess you didn't read my first paragraph. Anyway, why deny yourself the fun of writing this script!
If you can do it you can count yourself an above average DXLer!
