When exporting word documents to DOORS, images contained in the file do not appear correctly in the DOORS module? Can you import images into DOORS using this method? Or do you need to insert these images as OLE objects in order to generate a clear picture? The images visibly appear in the object, but are unclear (basically look like a black box) and do not appear at all when viewing the object properties. At the present time the only way we can view the image properly is to increase the width of the text column to enlarge the image. There must be an easier way. Thanks for your suggestions. |

I find that I can have similar issues with images when exporting to DOORS from Word. It often helps when I go through the document to see that the images are all the same format in Word (ideally Paste Special as "MS Word Document Object", on some occasions when this isn't an option I have used "Picture").
There have been occasions where the export simply did not work with the images and I did need to go in manually an insert each of the images as OLE Objects. There have been a couple of cases where the export failed and I found out that one time it was because of an empty image in the Word document, and the second time it was due to an image that was in an unacceptable format. In the first case removing the empty image (which was not easy to find...) resolved the issue. In the second case I found that removing the image and pasting it special as a picture resolved the issue. I hope this is helpful. ------------------------- - Kristen |

Hi Kelly,
Can you indicate what type of OLE objects are giving you grief? Are they MSWord, MSExcel, MSVisio, AutoCad etc? Not all tool vendors have been consistent in the way they have interpreted and implemented the OLE interface standard. Microsoft based OLE's seem to work OK, others can be a problem. ------------------------- Paul Miller Specification Practices Specialist, EuroCyber, Melbourne, Australia. Thank you for your suggestions. I've also had exports fail because of empty images. I'll try paste special next time.
Many of the images are Microsoft Visio Drawings, .bmp photos, or Adobe images. Most of the files we export to DOORS come from MSWord. Kelly |

Consider saving as an RTF, and using the Import functionality from within Doors. This seems to work great with all OLE objects, BUT the first save after import may take a while (subsequent saves don't reflect this at all - are as fast as usual). |
