I have recently experienced a message box "DXL Execution Timeout. You may:" There are buttons to Continue, Continue with double execution time or cancel. Continuing works but can something be done to prevent it occurring?

The first time it occurred I was running Michael Sutherland's response to my filter query. Modifying the code to make it suitable for my application made it disappear. But now I have included a loop to make it find metrics for several modules in one run it has reappeared.

I can find nothing in the manuals or help. We are running DOORS 5.2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Peter

You can add pragma runLim, 0 to the beginning of the script to disable the DXL interpreter from checking to see if many lines of code have been executed without anything happening. The interpeter is normally monitoring this activity to prevent infinite loops from crashing.

The DXL manual for DOORS v5.2 briefly talks about this on page 34. Look in the index under pragmas for other versions of DOORs.

Peter,

Mark is correct. Also, according to the DOORS provided DXL training material, the default runLim value is one million statements.

Welcome to the DXL millionaires club!

Thanks for the info. Would you believe I had the page tagged because of the Character Constants immediately below. Michael has provided the answer to the next obvious question. Upping the limit seems better than removing the function. One million is used as an example in the manual but does not state its the default.
