I have modified the file ...\lib\dxl\config\formal.dxl to customize the menu, context menu and the toolbar for formal modules.
As this is very helpful for all of my colleagues I would like to share this feature to have a common DOORS customization within the company. The problem is that it is not appreciated to patch the formal.dxl of each DOORS user.
Does anyone know how I can share the contents of my formal.dxl in the network?
Thanks in advance
Peter

Simplest way is to create an install wizard that user can elect to execute on their pc.

All users start their DOORS using a link that executes a batch file from the server. Within this batch file I have the opportunity to customize DOORS for all users. I already use this for the addins menu.
The goal is that all common dxl scripts are started directly from the server. This assures that all users are working with the newest dxl code without executing an install procedure.
So I am looking for a solution without the need to install the features on each client.

Are you still seeking a solution for synchronizing client DXL with the server DXL? I've written a utility that uses DOORS "conf" file transfer functionality to accomplish this... advantage is that you do not have to manage shared drive file access for all DOORS users. The utility runs when the DOORS client is started.
ps My utility also allows for configuration of different sets of DXL to downloaded to different users. |

Bob, I followed Ron's recomendation and installed DOORS on a shared server. This works fine as I can modify the dxl in one place and everybody can participate. But the solution is not yet provided to all users because the IT department has to decide for this common solution. Thus I would be interested in your utility to review it as a second option.
Maybe other forum members could participate also if you post your utility.
Thanks
Peter
