Hi, all.

Did you know, that DOORS 7.1 (build 71122) will be slower than DOORS 5.2 (build 52400) in DXL (and with the sieve of eratosthenes) ?

Have a look on the script.

have a sunny day.

regards,
dirk.

You're right, Dirk.

I replaced the sieve function with a more "realistic" test of opening, saving and closing a module a number of times.

Same results. Doors 7.1 was significantly slower than 5.2.

The modules in each database were identical.

Interestingly enough, my DOORS 5.2 database is on a server, but the DOORS 7.1 is local.

That's progress.

I've noticed something similar. I have a batch job I run every night. After we converted from DOORS 6.0 SR1 to DOORS 7.0 SP1, the job now takes twice as long (same client and server computers, same database, same DXL script). The batch job uses much more virtual RAM on the Windows 2000 client than it did before the conversion.

Yep, me too - I've noticed the same.

I'm just wondering if the proprietary DB server architecture has reached it's performance use by date and it's time to wheel in one of the open architecture DB engines.
