We have a blind person at my company that we want to have working with DOORS. We are finding accessibility to be problematic, and I was wondering if anyone out there has experience with this. This fellow uses a program called Jaws that helps with screen reading and navigation, and of course he also uses the built-in keyboard shortcuts, but this is not sufficient with DOORS. Specific problems we have encountered include the following: 1) Reading object contents is a problem, because the screen reading software won't read object contents unless he is in edit mode in the object. Our workaround is to open the properties sheet for the object. 2) Navigating a module is problematic, because, without being able to have object contents read, he can't determine where he is in the document. Our workaround is to export the document to Excel, which he can navigate very effectively, then use the Excel document along with the DOORS Go To dialog to navigate to the desired object in DOORS. Overall, the workarounds are not very efficient. What would be helpful would be an Excel-like navigation of objects and their attribute columns in a given view.

Random thoughts. A dialog displays the Hierarchy of the module. Changing the current object in the module triggers Dialog update (object-sync trigger), selecting a new object in the dialog sets that object current.

Another dialog displays the current object (including non-headings) in a convenient manners, and is similarly controlled by an object-sync trigger. This dialog needs to be noticiably better than the object properties sheet.
