We need to follow links to get at the next level of spec, but only if there's nothing there besides a link.
Is there any built-in way to tell if an object is completely empty? That is, does not contain any (non-space) heading or text, or any pictures, or any OLEs? (Or anything else I haven't thought of that can go into an object...) We're only looking at the "main column," other attributes are ignored. I've come up with the attached but it would be neater if there were one built in, although I didn't find anything in the ASCII dump. I got the picture-finding part from Louie's post on this thread. Looks good, especially that slick picture part...
I'd be tempted to classify text empty when it contains only white space characters, which are as far as I know this list: string cl_White = " \t\n\r\f\b". There is surely a RegExp you can use to check that. Be sure to define the RegExp as a global outside the function, since the regexp function itself is especially time consuming. - Louie |
