Our DOORS implementation is a migration from some Word documents -- as such we have a pattern where we will have a figure and then reference the figure from various places in the document (requirements might refer to a figure with regard to GUI elements).
Is there any way to autonumber figures and reference them? |

Use the Object Identifier, and make links to the figures.

Well, agree, yes, link the figures and tables to req'mnts or vice versa.
But why not do one better, start every figure or table object with the exact same words like: Figure: 2.1-1 This figure does .... blah then create a dxl script which finds all objects starting with the specified text, does actually automatically replace the text, (say, if the Figure has moved into a different spot in the module hierarchy). In essence, your script keeps track of the last, say, heading 2 level and keeps a counter on how many figures it finds and adds a number sequentially. The same of course applies for table objects. And the above, Figure: 2.1-1 This....., would be become: Figure: 2.1-2 This figure does .... blah blah We have implemented this and users love it. Auto renumbering Figures and Tables. Hope all of this makes sense. cheers, Werner ------------------------- werner.kolze@baesystems.com |
