Here is a little function I wrote and just came across that I thought I'd share. It checks to make sure that the Windows long date format is set properly since DOORS does not support the default Windows one.

You could even modify it to change the registry entry automatically if it finds it to be incorrect.

That's a matter of opinion.
The correct date format here is dd MMMM yyyy ;-)

Yes, the US 'standard' format of MMM DD YYYY is pretty silly, 'Feb 07 2008'; DD MMM YYYY is a lot better. This is the only issue at all where the rest of the world is right, and the US is wrong....

However, when asked "what's the date?" its easier to to say 'February 8' than '8th of February' or '8 February'.

Anyway, DOORS has made a feeble attempt to support US format, but it only works when the 'day' is greater than 12: is '03/04/2008' '3 April' or '4 March'?

I've got a standard library routine that converts date to the YYYY-MMM-DD format, and that routinely gets insert as part of most of my output report file names: 'ReportUsers_Production_2008-Feb-08.rtf'. I have some doubts about the text 'Feb' part instead of an integer '02' part, since the file names don't quite sort alphabetically right; 'Dec'ember reports come before 'Jul'y reports.
