![]() Answer: I apologize for taking so long on this. I had forgotten about it completely. I do kind of remember running the script and finding out that it was a user-defined attribute causing the problem, but I couldn't figure out a way to fix it. I just tested it today and the problem has gone away. The only thing that we did was baseline the module, so I would suggest trying that in your test copy to see if it helps. | |

In DOORS 7, sp1, in one module, two objects (out of thousands) have a problem with their object properties window. No matter how multiple users try to open the window (right-click, properties; double-click change bar; Edit from the Links menu) it appears to lock up the system. The window will appear, and usually the object text will be visible. Sometimes the cursor stays an hourglass (for at least 30 minutes). Sometimes it changes to an arrow, but nothing can be done in any DOORS window except to minimize it. The object are long, but not what I would consider outrageously so, maybe 20-30 lines, and both of them have multiple line breaks. Other objects within the same module have similar appearances.
Before I just delete these objects and recreate them (losing their history) does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! ------------------------- Jeremy Eble Software Engineer Teragon Consulting LLC jeremy.r.eble@lmco.com |

Just in case, try running the following code on such an object. Resetting the attribute value MAY solve the problem. The two print statements MAY help debug which attribute, if any, are causing the problem. Be sure you can see the DXL output window before running the script.

Jeremy,
I was hoping you could post your results of trying the DXL code provided by Louie. We are currently experiencing the same issue as you but on a much bigger scale. We have entire modules and entire views of other modules which have the same behavior as your handful of objects. When I right-click and select Properties in these modules/views, the hard drive of the server starts going crazy and I get an hourglass for anywhere from 5 seconds to 15-30 minutes. We are currently running DOORS 7 SP1 build 70214. I made a copy of our database and tried a couple of things. The first thing I tried was removing all links throughout the entire project. That made no difference. Another thing I tried was running DOORS 7.1 (which has the Database Integrity Checker integrated) and that resulted in it finding no errors. I ran the "Normalize Rich Text markup v1.0" DXL script provided by Galactic Solutions on one of the problem modules and that made no difference. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. -Tim Perry ![]() |
