![]() Answer: I managed to pound out the metrics that the boss wanted. It requires visits to a Access DB and an Excel spreadsheet after the data is pulled from DOORS, but the boss is happy, so I'm happy. Thanks for all the help though | |||||

Suervision wants to track requirements by the month (i.e. new requirements, modified requirements etc). Has anyone developed a script that will allow month to month tracking of requirements drift?

I found a similar script on this forum. See the thread on
https://support.telelogic.com/en/doors/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=31&threadid=861 this follows the drift from baselines and of course is modified for the publishers process. ------------------------- Pekka.Makinen@softqa.fi SoftQA Oy -http://www.softqa.fi/ |

Hi,
Did you ever get a satisfactory response to this? If not and you would like a script, I have one that we have been using for quite some time now. I will attach it, and if you need additional info, then I will describe it. Essentially it extracts metrics regarding req's and volatility from the various modules in a project. It then exports the data to a dynamically updated Excel file. Does a pretty good job of it to! Let me know Carlton

hi
in you dxl it states to set Module Attributes to you create these attributes are they set in the module properties. I'm using DOORS 8.1 |

how would you suggest I use this if I am not a programmer but need to provide this information to my customer. I don't know where to customized this code for my purpose, again not being a programmer but need to provide the information the is code produces.

please can you tell me what lines to customized to get this to work for my module

The scripts will work if you create attributes in the formal modules.
Beside for the module attributes listed there are also object attributes needed of: "Allocation" "Clarity" Script will run with out any values entered in. "Allocation" & "Clarity" In the Module attributes you will have to initialize the module attributes -- I would suspect you can figure that part out. The module attributes are listed in the top part of the script -- they are: SFD_DOORS_Report_Path as string, default is C:\DoorsReports\ SFD_METRIC_LastRowUpdated as integer, default is 1. SFD_Metric_LastUpdated as date, default is 1 Jan 1970 also an unlisted module attribute of Customer_Spec_Name Also you have to put the xls sheet to whereever you point to in one of the module attributes. other than this -- if I recall the script will work. The hardest part is creating/initializing the attributes Don't know if script provides valid results -- The plot of values may not be initially of value but sheet 1 will have the results that will be plotted. One module attribute that wasn't listed in the dxl was
Customer_Spec_Name |
|||||
![]() |
|||||
![]() |
|||||
-R-E- DXL: <Line:299> unknown Module attribute (Customer_Spec_Name) Backtrace: <Line:442>
that's the error I get a creating the other attributes. The "Customer_Spec_Name" is an attribute I'm suppose to create right? |

Yes create the attribute "Customer_Spec_Name" and assigned it any value you want --
|
|||||

still gives me this error
-R-E- DXL: <Line:299> unknown Module attribute (Customer_Spec_Name) Backtrace: <Line:442> |

Karen,
Make sure you creating this attribute -- Customer_Spec_Name -- as a module attribute and not an object attribute. ------------------------- pete.kowalski(at)motorola.com |

you're correct I did change to an module attribute, however still give me an error and just copied it right from forum
example: -R-E- DXL: <Line:387> incorrect argument for operator (/), (0) Backtrace: <Line:442> |

the error is because of a division by zero
two solutions - test for zero in the dxl code -- note there are three division and the original author did not test for zero or correctly fill out the Clarity fields so there is data and divisor is not zero |

thanks for working with me today. I made the clarity an integer field and put large number in it. and still does not word. I don't know how to test for zero in dxl |

Karen -- I browsed thru the dxl script and generated following help file.
Script use following module attributes: SFD_METRIC_LastRowUpdated as integer, default is 1. SFD_Metric_LastUpdated as date, default is '1 Jan 1970' & is updated each time script runs SFD_DOORS_Report_Path to indicate full path to template Customer_Spec_Name as name of short target module name at end of outgoing links Script also use following user defined object attributes 'Allocation' as string 'Clarity' as string Script assumes that someone has marked up attribute Clarity to have one or more of the following values. "SYS UNCLEAR" "SYS CLEAR" "ELEC UNCLEAR" //ie electrical "ELEC CLEAR" "SW UNCLEAR" "SW CLEAR" Object text has 'DELETE' to designate deleted object Object text has shall to indicate requirement. Attribute Allocation ="ELEC" //mean electrical Attribute Allocation ="SW"//means software Attribute Allocation ="" //ie empty value means not a requirement Script sets view to Standard view before processing User should use SDL_Metrics.xls template Edited: 20-May-2007 at 13:00 by ron lewis |
