Hi,
Does anyone know of any issues if the DOORS DB area is located on a Solaris server? That is, DOORS is installed on a Windows server and DOORS server registry key "ServerData" is defined to point to a directory path that resides on a Solaris server. Given that this effectively requires an interface between a Windows based server and a Solaris based server, what interfacing software needs to be in place to support the interfacing of each operating systems authentication and file management systems. I seem to recall many years ago that products called "NFS Maestro" or SAMBA was required, is this still the case? Any known pitfalls in doing it this way? I have a client that has a Windows server that can take the DOORS server installation but doesn't have enough space on it's data partitions for a DOORS data area, but they do have an under-utilised Solaris server that they would like to use rather than purchase HW & SW for another Windows Server. ------------------------- Paul Miller Specification Practices Specialist EuroCyber Melbourne, Australia Mobile: + 61 (0) 418 135 103 http://www.eurocyber.biz |

It can likely be done, but I really wouldn't recommend that. Disk space is so cheap nowadays that I would really try to pursuade your client to pony up for another HDD.
