Hello,

Has anyone successfully been able to convert a table column to an object attribute? Going back a couple versions, Telelogic has provided a DXL script (Convert DOORS Table into Objects, one per row) in its DXL Library that is supposed to do just that. However, I have had many problems with it due to it containing bugs. Telelogic has admitted to me that it does contain bugs but I would have to HIRE their Professional Services people to fix the bugs unless I wanted to try and fix it myself. I have attempted to fix the bugs - and I have had a little success - but I haven't been able to fix them all. I was hoping that with version 8, I would find that they had fixed this DXL. However, they have not.

Here is the reason I am wanting to do this: We have projects trying to import their test documents into DOORS. These documents typically contain the following columns: Step #, Action, Expected Result and Pass/Fail. Instead of every cell being its own object, which is the case when I import the document, I would prefer that these values be object attributes (i.e. each row is a single object).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tim

Here is a script found in the Kitchen.dxl files that you may find useful. There is also a script for row to object. Search the DXL forum for the Kitchen.dxl zip file.

We have determined that if one of the columns contains a multi-valued attribute (an attribute that can represent an enumerated list of 2 or more values), the kitchen script to "convert rows to objects with attributes" errors out on that attribute. 1) Is there a proper syntax to use to list the multiple values in the cell of the MSWord table prior to running the script? 2) Is there a bugfixed version of this kitchen script available somewhere? I would export the table itself to an excel csv. Had a heading row featuring the desired names of the attributes. Then import the spreadsheet.
