Hi All,
This post is with regard to the DOORS 7.1 Database Server service. I have a DOORS 7.1 database installed on a windows server. I also have a DOORS 8.1 database on the same windows server. Whenever the server is powered off, the DOORS 8.1 database server restarts automatically but the DOORS 7.1 database server has to be started manually each time the window server is powered on. Despite selecting the "automatically restart" option in "Services", the DOORS 7.1 database server does not restart on automatically. Has anybody run into this problem? If so, how did you overcome this issue? I would appreciate it if you could let me know at the earliest possible. Thank you.

Regards,

Pranav

After its started, can you use the v7.1 client? If the service is off, will it start when you start the v7.1 client?

Hi Louie,
Thank you for your prompt response to my post. I am able to the use the v7.1 client after the database is started. If the service is off, it does not start when the 7.1client is launched.

Pranav

Pranav,

If you are running your doors servers on windows, then you will need to look at the windows 'services' application:

Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Adimistrative Tools -> Services.

Each of the different doors server instances runs as a windows service, listed in the services application. In the services app you can specify if each of these services should restart auto, for instance after a power outage.

Hi Andrew,
I tried that. The weird thing is that it works for the DOORS 8.1 DB Server (which is also running on the same Windows Server) but does not work for the DOORS 7.1 DB Server. I wonder if it has anything to do with two DOORS servers running on the same windows server.

Mine start automatically fine. I'm ignorant about services, but if that happened to me I'd examine the Properties of each service to make sure they are fundamentally the same.

It appears that the properties of both DOORS services are the same. I am wondering if this has to do with a patch. The last patch I applied to the DOORS 7.1 DB Server was Patch 007. Does this sound right or is there something more recent than this. I checked the telelogic patch section and it appeared that Patch 007 was the most recent patch for the DOORS 7.1 DB Server.
