Good Morning,
we have installed two servers with 8.1 DOORS and DOORSNET on windows server 2003. One for production and the second one für testing new Releases. The FlexLicense-Server runs on the production. The DOORS-Client on Test is working fine. We also want to run a DOORSnet-Server on the test maschine. DOORSnet is not working (error message: Can not contact DOORS Session Manager), because the Doors Session Manager on Test is not starting. We receive the following message with startup of the DOORS Session Manager on Test "Flex license error: Licensed number of users already reached". FLEXnet Licensing error 4,132. If I use the DOORS Session Manger on Production (Hint in "Managing DOORSnet, Publishint data in multiple DOORS databases) I am able to login trough DOORSnet - Server on Test, but im only getting the production database. Got anyone a similar problem to give me a hint? Thank you in advance Andrea |

The obvious next question is - how many DOORSNet licences do you have? Our Flex reports for licence usage indicate that we have only one DOORSNet licence, despite several users being able to use DOORSNet at the same time. However, whoever picks up the DOORSNet licence first, locks the net server to one database, which sounds very similar to your problem.
This doesn't help you much, because we haven't found a way around it yet (no pressure from users to date). But maybe it will point you in the direction of the right question, even if not the answer... Paul. ------------------------- Paul dot Tiplady at TRW dot com TRW Automotive |

Hi Paul,
thank you for the quick reply. We also have only one license für DOORSnet. Now I understand the hint with "Only one doors session manager" in "Managing DOORSnet" because the session manager contacts the FLEXnet license server. So the question changes to How to work with : - one license server - one session manager - two server - two databases May I have two DOORSnet Server? The aim is to have the possibility to test a update of the DOORSnet before releasing it to all users. curious Andrea |

Now you're beyond me! I only dabble at the 'upper reaches' of DOORS, doing information architecture, process and the DXL to support it. I leave all the IT stuff to our IT guys, and they tend to set it up and leave it alone. I AM nosey, so I tend to spot oddities like the 'one DOORSNet licence' thing.
![]() Maybe when the US wakes up in a couple of hours there will be someone able to answer this kind of question. Paul. ------------------------- Paul dot Tiplady at TRW dot com TRW Automotive |

How to do this is quite well described in the Managing DOORSnet manual, read the section Publishing data in multiple DOORS databases (Page 19 on DOORSnet 8.1 manual).
You can have only one Session Manager running accessing your only DOORSnet license, but simultanously have many DOORSnet DB Servers publishing data from many DOORS databases, these all will then connect to the one DOORSnet Session manager. ------------------------- Pekka.Makinen@softqa.fi SoftQA Oy -http://www.softqa.fi/ Edited: 29-Mar-2007 at 12:48 by Pekka Mäkinen |

Andrea,
Telelogic support previously told me that: quote: In my own words, you can only license one DOORSnet session manger from any one FLEXlm license pool. ------------------------- Michael Sutherland michael@galactic-solutions.com http://galactic-solutions.com |
