We have a central DOORS database that all projects use.   One of the challenges in this is keeping track of the the project admins, project managers and business contacts for each.   What I've implemented is the use of a module in each project named 'zProjectProfile'.  When a project is created we create this module and populate the information we know.   We modify the permissions so the users within the project can edit the data to keep it current but they cannot delete it.

Does anybody else do anything similiar ?

I'd also be interested in hearing how others manage inactive projects or those at the end of development.

Cheers
Chris

I've got some grandiose ideas about a 'project information' module at the root of each project; one that defines the 'rules' that my upcoming pile of DXL can read and use to configure itself.

As far as defining things like Project Admins ... I've 'decided' that folks that want access to new projects should contact the admins themselves, who are responsible to know who should have what rights to their projects and have the power to add or remove folks from their groups. This contact-them-directly seems superior to forcing folks to 'request' project access the same official way they 'request' the original DOORS account; which around here requires as much red-tape as getting Sanctified by the Vadican.

Anyway, putting project admin info inside a project doesn't work since folks that lack any R access cannot see the file and don't know who to ask. Rather I've put such a module in a folder under the root, which defines the Program Admins (those with DOORS power), Prgram Managers (those with authority), and the names of each project associated with each Program. We have another module with general DOORS Contact info such as the DB Admins, IT folks of interest, and even the Telelogic representatives.
