Hey,
I'm currently creating some custom scripts dealing with exporting DXL modules to Excel and had two questions.
Firstly, how do I launch an excel macro from Doors? (I know how to do stuff with Doors from Excel, but not the other way around.)
Secondly, is there a way to allow someone in Excel to choose from a multi-choice drop-down list? I've found a way to do a single-choice drop down through Data->Validation->Settings->Allow List.
Incase your wondering why I want to do this, I need to export a Doors Module to Excel, then store "enumerations" of each multi-choice and single-choice list so that if the user modifies something in the excel version they can view all the enumerations and don't have to type them in or check the original module for the correct ones. I'd appreciate help on both questions! Thanks!

Do a search for Macros and you'll find a few threads about calling an Excel macro via DXL.
For the second problem, I don't believe Excel supports multi-valued lists. ------------------------- David Pechacek AAI Services Textron dpechacek@sc-aaicorp.com David.Pechacek@gmail.com |

Is there a way to pass parameters from doors when calling the VB macros in excel? Or for them to access data in Doors and perform actions based on that?

Brian, with Word, you can pass values to 'Custom Document Properties' in the Word document, then get the VBA to pull the values back out from there, I haven't tried this with Excel yet though, but I think the same should work. In Word I use this to store the information I would embed into the header and footer of the document. Otherwise, you could crate a 'redundant' Excel worksheet to store the passed data, them delete it again at the end.

That makes sense. Does anyone have an example of this available? (I'm referring to passing values to the Custom Document properties in excel)

Brian, the following link refers to doing this in Word, perhaps you could modify it? > https://support.telelogic.com/en/doors/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=17&threadid=4713&enterthread=y
