Hi all,

 fficeffice" />>>

I am currently planning the upgrade of v7.1 à v8.1 of the product, and was wondering what experiences you can share of this upgrade?  I have some specific queries which you may have experience/knowledge of:

 >>

Ø       When you have partitions away at suppliers/partners and you upgrade form v7.1 à v8.1 (and you do not recover the partitions) can you successfully return the partitions from suppliers/partners?  I see in some of the threads there have been some issues.

Ø       Are there any specific issues with scripts that need to be investigated prior to upgrade?

Ø       Are there any specific actions you should carry out prior to or immediately after upgrade?

Ø       Are there any issues related to embedded OLE's or RTF that I should investigate specifically?

 >>

All, any help would be much appreciated, as I am trying to put a check list of items together that we can work through to increase our chances of success!

Hi Phillip,

W.r.t each of your bullet points

1. The DOORS 8v1 installation manual on page 38 indicates that all partitions must be rejoined before migration. The installtion manual alos provides a lot of other advice about how to migrate data from 7.1 to 8.1.

2. My recommendation is that all DXL scripts that are in active use should be tested. Whilst Telelogic have not indicated any major architectural changes to the DB and the DXL language, it's wise to test that your DXL scripts will continue to work on v8.1. It's also wise to read the v8.1 DXL Reference manual and refer to it's "What's New" sections to see what has changed.

3. Recommend that you read the 8v1 installation manual which covers various upgrade conditions and scenarios.

4. None that I have seen or heard about. Just be aware that DOORS is only semi RTF compliant, occassioanlly you get the odd RTF related problem but it shouldn't be from the migration.

We will most likely do the same migration... Definitely check DXL scripts! There are slight differences even between 8.0 and 7.1 that may cause issues. (Sorry, don't have anything more specific right now)
