Greetings:

I've modified the DXL that was floating around a while back that allows for text to be placed at a bookmark in a word document. (eg. put the exported object heading/text after the cover page, signature page and TOC.) My new version of the script puts various module attributes at various bookmarks. For example: I have a module attributes called "Title" "Author" "Design History File Number", etc. These get put into the word document on the cover page. The object heading/text then gets put at the end of the templated document (ie. after the signature page and the TOC.)

My problem is that I want to put some of these attributes into the header/footer of the Word document. I've set up the bookmarks in the template, but when I do the export it puts them at the beginning of the document. My guess is that I need to get a handle on the header/footer in the word document, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that using the Automation features in DOORS.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I'm currently dealing with the same issue. Did you ever find a solution?
Thanks,
-Brian

The attached DXL works for me. There's nothing complicated about the DXL; it's fighting through the Word object model which makes it complex.

For the header and other small bits of the document front page I use an alternative approach using Word document properties and fields. I insert fields into the word template which are filled in from custom document properties. The export script then just needs to set the property.

Here is a script I found here a while back and modified. What you will have to do is set up tags in your template. Place your tags in your header/footer. The script updates the tags in the template then saves the template. Then you can run your word export afterwards. It's a two step process but it works for me. Attached is the script and a example of the tags in the template. Let me know what you think.

To allow you to switch between the main document and header/footer. I suggest you use the following code. I have tried with bookmarks etc but this just led to me banging my head against a wall.
