i've got a module with object heading/text to start with. the second column is the first part of a two order inlink trace and the third column is the second part of that two order inlink trace.
i am exporting this to Word and i wanted column 2 and 3 to be on top of one another. what happens now is it shows all the info from column 2 then it shows all the info from column 3. i need the column 3 stuff mixed in with the stuff its related to in column 2. ie...column one is Paragraph Headings and descriptive text and column 2 is the reqts under those headings. Column 3 stuff that points to the reqts so each thing needs to go under the reqt it relates to. hope i wasnt too vague...thanks guys... |

well i just got the idea of doing an inlink trace in the reqts module and capturing that info as a text attribute as part of that module so i could only need to pull info from one module instead of two. thats the only workaround i can think of but i'd like to know if other guys know other ways. i'm not that smart on dxl.

As a guess, without seeing the code :- |

i moved the code below from column2 to column3 and it worked to show all the info together. Although i want the column2 stuff above the column3 stuff but it seems no matter where i paste it, it shows column3 information then the column2 information. i'm about outta here so i may just have to mess with the display statements with fresh eyes in the morning. if you see an error in my thinking now though, let me know. thanks for the help!

Very hard to know what's going on without seeing the code.
I am guessing, but if you are using a recursive routine to display output, and you are recursing BEFORE calling the display() function, then the output will appear in reverse order because text is being displayed as the recursion unwinds. To fix this, make sure you call display() for the current depth before going to the next depth. ------------------------- Tony Goodman http://www.smartdxl.com |
