DOORS user community:
Back in 2005, I prototyped a DXL script that will import a PDF document. The script places an exact graphical representation of a page (or Selected Portion) in one Text Attribute and place the text in another PDFText Attribute. PDFImport Script will import the whole PDF or selected pages as user desired. I stopped development on the script because I could not guarantee an event in Windows would not interrupt perfect import of a page (I now have been able to trap the Error). However, a user can get perfect import. I was also concerned about export compliance. Is there enough interest in such a PDFImport.dxl that I should prepare a paper for Indoors User Group Conference on this subject or should I proceed in a different avenue? What is the DOORS user community's opinion. Ron Lewis Edited: 22-Jan-2008 at 20:17 by ron lewis |

So many ways to say "YES PLEASE!" that I'm having trouble picking one.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'd like to know more, so I'd say, go for the paper.

Very very interested. I would also be intereste in export to PDF, though that is a different kettle of fish Im sure. Not sure if this what your looking for when you say export to PDF, but this is some code I use when I want to create an Adobe PDF file without showing the print dialog. The "file_path" buffer is a buffer I used to get a user defined file path and name for the original dialog box using the fileName function. Basically the script gets the default printer registry setting and saves it to the reg buffer, then sets the Adobe PDF as the default, prints the module, then resets the default back to the original printer. Of course this will only work if you have Adobe installed on your computer. Sorry don't want to take the thread of topic, so I think it would be a great idea. ------------------------- Scott Boisvert Engineering Tools Administrator L-3 Communications - Avionics Systems scott.boisvert@l-3com.com Edited: 9-Jan-2008 at 21:18 by Scott Boisvert |
