![]() Answer: I am not refering to the built in DOORS function which doesn't re-arrange the objects in the module but re-arrange the objects in the view. A script to rearrange the objects based on an attribute can work, if you design the script to only concentrate on defined objects. Or you can do the sorting manually. | |

Is there an easy way to import new objects from Excel in alphabetical order with the objects already within the module.

I am not able to understand your requirement, but I am going to take a guess at the answer.
The answer may be to obtain a dxl script that will sort object based on the attribute you are wanting in order. Then inport in order is unimportant. There may be a sorting script in the kitchen script or in the examples included on your client. I know there is a sort function in an include file from kitchen script that you could use. If this is not the solution -- please clarify your requirement statement. Edited: 27-Sep-2008 at 14:29 by ron lewis |

First import, then sort. Don't try to sort while import. It would complicate things.

I have glossary and acronym modules that are already sorted alphabetically. I want to import new terms and have them import into the correct alphabetic location. I'm not using the DOORS sort function, the objects are located int he proper alphabetic location.

Thank-you. That should work. I was concentrating on trying to sort when importing.

Something like this should do it.
Just change the attribute name at the bottom of the script and it will sort (move) all the objects alphabetically according to the value of that attribute. ------------------------- Tony Goodman Smart DXL limited www.smartdxl.com |
