Having read the thread "Multi-site, Mult-Server enterprise architecture" I conclude that if you run DOORS on CITRIX you have no use for DOORSNet because CITRIX gives the same functionality but better. Is this the exerience of CITRIX users?

Unless there is some reason that the users cannot get at that server or for some reason you need "generic" read-only users through DOORSNet, Citrix (yea!) will replace DOORSNet (boo!).

I take it you are a fan of CITRIX, what about your users? We are using plain Terminal Server with DOORS V5.2. This delights the IT dept but not the users. We hope to go to CITRIX with V7.1. Thanks for your response. Peter Edited: 8-Sep-2004 at 16:02 by Peter Seager |

I can honestly say that our user base love Citrix, the speed difference found across a global WAN makes it well worth the effort. To answer the original question, we have stopped using Doors Net since we started use of Citrix.

DOORSNet has been a disaster from day 1, as far as I and everyone I've talked to can tell. Don't understand the nuance differences between Citrix and Terminal Services, but Citrix has always been pretty good; vastly faster than a local DOORS client going after data on a secure (or very remote) server.

Hi,
I would second Louie's opininion of DOORSNet and place my vote of confidence in CITRIX. For users who were used to having the DOORS "fat client" installed on their PC, having to move over to CITRIX was initially viewed with fear and scepticism but this soon passes as long as the move to CITRIX is as seamless as possible (what I'm trying to say here is that you can really make a mess of CITRIX if you're not careful and this only exacerbates the fear and skeptisism). ------------------------- Paul Miller Specification Practices Specialist, EuroCyber, Melbourne, Australia.
