Every time I try to set any link in a certain module - let's call it "Module 1" -, I get the following error message:
A linkset pairing restriction prevents the creation of links from "Module 1" to "Module 1". No link will be created. As I haven't had any problems with creating links in or between other modules and as I haven't any idea what differences should exist between those modules and "Module 1", I would appreciate your thoughts and solutions to what causes this problem. Thank you for your answers. Edited: 4-Aug-2006 at 13:22 by Matthias Wastian |

Linkset pairings are editable from the Properties of the module sourcing the link. Linkset pairings can be defined to force creation of links to a particular module to go into a particluar link module, but mostly Linkset pairings just stop you from doing things because they were poorly conceived, implemented, and documented. They also appear to be "linksets" but in fact they are not, they just define restrictions.
In this case you want to open "Module 1" exclusive, File menu >Properties >Linksets tab. You will probably see such a LSP therein with "Module 1" as the target and some link module defined. Well, that will stop you from creating a link from a Module 1 object to some other Module 1 object using drag and drop, which defaults to DOORS Links module. We don't use LSPs. I don't recall exacltly, but you cannot have an LSP that is both Mandatory and Overrideable, but you can have one that is niether. Mandatory is awkward. I cannot recall whether "none" is better than "overrideable" or visa-versa; perhaps you can search the archives (probably the DXL forum) for posts containing both "Louie" and "LMD" (LMD is the DXL equivalent of LSP). - Louie |
