Hello,
I have a module which is very used (lots of attributes, allways open), and I have plans to add some more attributes. As theses new attributes are quite different, my idear is to create a second module and "share" one attribute (as for a database). Is it a common pratice? is there better solution ? Can you give me some pointers about how to implement it ? Best Regards, Alain. |

You cannot "share" attributes between modules in the manner (I believe) you suggest: two modules cannot share the same Object Text attribute.
If your module is being used by concurrent users, you can define "shared sections" in the module by giving certain object specific access rights. Users should then be encouraged to open the module "shared" rather than "exclusive", then select an object they want to change, "lock" that object (which locks all objects under the ancestor object with the specific access, and proceed to make changes. So if you define all level 1, 2, and 3 headings as "shared" and someone "locks" object 3.2.1.5.4-0.3, all objects in section 3.2.1 would be locked by that user, but some other user could be editing section 3.2.4. There is no way to allow one user to be editing attribute A in the whole module while some other user is editing attribute B. - Louie |
