Hi!

Let's say we have formal modules A and B, a link module A2B and set default (mandatory) link set pairings to module A and B for links between modules A and B.

So if we create a link from an object of module A to module B and vice versa the link will be created in the default link sets.
That's ok so far.

But now I want to "guide" the user only to create links outgoing from module A to module B as target.
He must not create links from module B to module A.
But how can I implement this restriction in DXL? Unfortunately I have no idea how to do it.

Can anybody help me?

Many thanks in advance,
Oliver

When you add a linkset pairing, it has direction, so if you also check the mandatory box then the user should not be able to create a link in the wrong direction. You should also check the "only allow links specified in the above list" check box.

It is also a good idea to create and then soft-delete (do not purge) a "DOORS Links" link module in every folder within your project. This prevents spurious linksets being created by users.

Hi Tony,

many thanks for your kind help.

As an DOORS resp. DXL beginner I missunderstood the definition of the default linkset pairing a little bit. I thought that since links are always bi-directional a default linkset pairing has to be defined for every direction of the link regardless of the starting point of the link creation.

Following your advice I simply deleted the not wanted default link set pairing and everything works as required.
I checked the option "only allow links specified in the above list" before, too. But I will additionally delete all "DOORS links" link modules since I predefined default link modules for any link direction explicitely regarding our RE process.

Again many thanks for your help.

Best regards,
Oliver
