So, a simple question what do you use as your Production environment wrt the DOORS server.
Have you trialled Windows and Unix as a server, what did your results show? Currently we're on the Unix side, but we've been having some discussions as to the advantages of each platform, and I'd welcome the experience / thoughts of others. ------------------------- Graham Stradling, Alcatel-Lucent. |

Graham,
We have UNIX (Solaris) production servers and Windows (2003 Server) production servers. Our experience shows that the UNIX server can handle more users without performance degrading. We also rarely need to stop/start the UNIX DB server process (maybe once or twice a year). Our Windows servers are also pretty stable, but we need to stop/start the DB server process about once every 6 weeks (on average). We don't keep metrics on it so these are estimates. We also are able to run multiple servers of any DOORS version on a single UNIX server. We haven't been successful with that on the Windows servers. If I had my choice, we would run all of our DOORS DB servers on UNIX. Brian Azelborn Rockwell Collins |
