Can the values for the multi enumeration object Type attribute be modified or added to within a dxl script. It is hard tell this in the dxl reference manual, and I have had no success at coding this.

For example, we use package numbers to authorize the change of requirements and elements in the design documents. I want to be able to add this value to an existing multi enumerated string attribute so that users can select it and so that I do not have to manually enter this into 100 modules. I also need to be able to modify the string value within a multi enumerated attribute. For  example,  I may need to change the string from " Test 2" to "Test 2 - Part B". Can this be done from dxl for a multi enumerated string type. I have not been able to do this.

Thanks
Chip

See this thread for an idea. Modify Enumerated Attribute That would be the best way to do it probably.

I appreciate the help. It does make me realize that this will cause some significant problems. This multi enumerate lists exists is over 100 modules, and was created by hand, and the lists are not in the same order, and a couple may even have values that other modules do not. I am going to have to generate a script to capture all of the values into a temp string attribute, then create the new one multi value list, and map over the old values if it finds the string, and error out any discrepancies and then I will have to fix manually all of the errors.

Thanks

I can get the code to work from the examples that everyone wrote... but there are two problems.

1. People are passing three arrays of integers and the call in the DXL reference manual only has two passed. People are pass an array called enumMapping. I am not sure what this is?

2. In my program I am not simple pushing a new list. I read the one that already exists into temp arrays to hold the values, perform a search, then change the string in the temp array and then push back to the module. However, when I use the modify command it does not modify a thing.

I have attached the portion of code that I am currently testing. It may be bracket short, and have other variables, but you can see the jist. From what I can tell everything is correct from th prior thread you mentioned, but trying to set a temp array and using that does not appear to be working.

Any suggestions?
