![]() Answer: Since the admin won't just let me create a new attribute I had to go the long way around and get this one. I think I got it :-) Thanks for your help. ~Dawn | |

Here is the problem - I created a layout dxl in a module A. I then created a layout dxl in module B that tries to display the text that I have in the layout dxl of module A. The code crashes when it reaches the point that I set the string equal to the contents of that col. Any suggestions?
Thanks, ~Dawn |

Golly; the real problem is that the code in B will have to open A using the correct view each time. I've never done that from a Layout but suspect that A will 'open' and that view 'displayed' each time a new object in B is displayed. Yiiiiikes.
Looks like your code in B would need to do the same calculatation as the code in A. Yes, having an AttrDXL in A would be easier but just make sure that if the calculation results in a null display, that you display a space instead of null. Null AttrDXL values is a trigger to recalculate, and if you keep calculating null it will eat up all available CPU, and also memory if the code deals with strings at all. That is, all AttrDXL should end like this: string FinalResults = whatever if (null FinalResults) FinalResults = " " obj.attrDXLName = FinalResults - Louie |
