![]() Answer: Use the HOTLINE. doorssupport.us@telelogic.com to told me from June 2001: Here are the steps to resolve this issue. 1) Go to the server that has the DOORSDATA on it. 2) If this server is running a Doors Database server we do recommend Stopping the database server process/service. 2) In the doors data directory on the server search the DOORSDATA\hierarchy directory and sub-folders for lock.dtc. 3) The search may come up with many lock.dtc files but you will only want to delete the lock.dtc file located under a \views folder. Once a lock.dtc is found in the \views folder you can delete it or rename it. 4) IF using a Doors Database server, now start database server process/service 5) Next in Doors you should now be able to open the module without error. | |

While in a formal module, I opened the View list to switch Views - at which point a Windows dialog appeared, stating that the application was not responding and offering option button to "End Now". Clicking this button closed both the formal module and DOORS. After restarting DOORS; clearing the lock on the formal module (Manage Locks menu option); and opening the module, I find that the Views list is gone and a notice "<View list is locked>" is displayed within the View selection list. I do not know how to unlock a View list.

Starting with DOORS 7, the way locking works has been updated to show less "ghost" locks. For view locking, it means that instead of having to go through these steps, all that usually needs to be done is to close the module, wait a few minutes, and try again. If waiting doesn't work, I've found that clearing the locks for the project through the Manage Locks screen will clear up the view locks.
