I've read all the previous posts concerning DOORSnet and all the entries on the Knowledgebase and there still doesn't seem to be any real explanation of why the DOORSnet Session Manager stops itself every few days.  Everything else about it works fine and since moving it to a different server i don't even have to do the whole "dnsesman -remove" bit anymore.  However, it still stops of it's own accord without any warning.

I know it's not a big problem in the grand scheme of things but surely it's not accepted behaviour for a server to stop itself a couple of times a week?

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that is having this problem. I've loaded the DN software onto a different server also, and its still broke for me. I've been working with Albert at Tech support and we are at the point were I'm waiting for him to get suggestions back from the developers. If I get anything out of them I'll let you know.

Simon,

I did a complete removal and reload of DOORS on my server, and as this morning, it seemed happy. Of crouse since the session manager drops at random times it may not be happy this afternoon, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Edit 4 May 05

It is still up. I don't have any kind of fix action besides completely wiping out the DOORS install then reinstalling it.

One of many reasons why we have stopped using DOORSNet is this problem mentioned. Please post the solution. Thank you

One of my customers had problems with DOORSnet Session Manager, the service did not start after server boot, though
after removal and re-install it run perfectly before the first boot. This situation was helped by defining DependOnService
key values "DOORS DB Server 7.1" and "FLEXlm License Server" in registry for both the DOORSnet Server and DOORSnet
Session Manager.

I updated to DOORS 7.1 (including patch 11) a month ago and after a few initial problems I got DOORSnet up and running on the same server we'd been using before.  It then continued running for several weeks without any problems.  I then tried to access it today and discovered that it wasn't working but when i checked  the server machine it was the DOORSnet Server service that had stopped, not the session manager.  I restarted it and it's fine again now.
