Hi!
We plan an upgrade to version 7.1 (from 5.2). The moduleMigrator-script used for the upgrade to version 6 might be useful (though not necessary according to the documentation). Some people would like to use it to cut down the delay for first opening documents after the upgrade. My questions: Is it harmless to use the moduleMigrator-script (after the usual upgrade to version 7.1)? Does it really cut down the opening time? Using the script for an upgrade to version 6 I experienced some crashes (seemingly when the project is too large). Using the script on individual directories in a project everything worked fine (although the use was tedious). TIA for your help, Christian |

See the thread this thread
We did not use the script. Just opened (E-edit) and saved all modules, which could be a real drag if you have many modules. ------------------------- Pieter de Waard www.nhindustries.com Edited: 18-Aug-2004 at 10:21 by Pieter DE WAARD |

Yes, the v6 "moduleMigrator" isn't "essential" but it does reduce future load times. Basically, it just opens for edit, saves, and closes all the module; although it has some display bells and whistles (it tells you which modules are already migrated). To save a lot of time, run this script from the server itself.
