I have a user who currently has Doors version 5.2 on her computer and needs to have version 7 on her computer as well. Is it possible to have Doors version 5.2 and version 7 installed on the same computer? What are the problems with this kind of setup
Thanks |

I have 5.2 and 6.0SR1 on the same machine. I also have a 7.0 with a local database to trial, but I have not used that extensively.
I frequently run both 5 and 6 databases at the same time without any problems. All versions of DOORS are using the same licence information. I have a hardware licence, so this is not a problem. I am sure I have heard somewhere that the DOORS 7 licencing is different? ------------------------- Hazel Woodcock |

As far as I am aware DOORS 7.0 flex licence keys are not backwards compatible. That is a DOORS 7.0 licence will not allow you to run previous versions of DOORS. By the same token, a DOORS 6 licence will not allow you to run DOORS 7.0.

DOORS 7.0 uses a different license server (upgraded Flexlm), but you can still run DOORS 5.x, 6.0, and 7.0 clients from the same machine, just make sure you have both port@server licenses in your LM_LICENSE_FILE system variable.
I run 5.2 and 7.0 databases and clients from the same machine all the time. Alec |
