I need to use an inlink to grab the object text of the source module that is linked and put it as an attribute of the target module at the link. The application is so that I can see an old requirement wording next to a new one.
Could someone help me understand how to make this happen? I have written code to print the information out but I need it as an attribute inside the database.
Thanks,
Kelley

If you don't know dxl -- easiest approach for you is to export the view into a csv file and then reinport into DOORS.

I do know DXL. I'm almost there, I believe. I just need to assign the src."Object Text" to the trg."a_textSSSv1" attribute.

I believe I got it. Apparently, you cannot assign it directly. I had to assign the src."Object Text" to a variable and then assign that variable to trg."a_textSSSv1". Seems rather cumbersome but there it is.

You needed to put two double quote after the src."object Text" like this
trg."a_textSSSv1" = src."Object Text" "" |

Yes. Thanks. I remember that from the class now.
Follow-up question: Is there an easy way to copy over whatever inlinks that src."Object Text" has?

If you mean to create links then yes you can do this by iterating thru the inlinks of the src object and creating links with the
trg<-"Link Module" <-obj_link where obj_link is the source of the link and of course the formal module of the source must be open in edit mode. |
