hi,all.
I need to change access right with the user who has no "control" right.
eg.
Module Name : testRight
Users : User1 -> rights: R
User2 -> rights: RMCDA
Now, I lonin the doors with User1,and open module testRight with read-only.
In DxL edit, I want to set "RMCDA" to user User1. It should not.....
So, in dxl script , I want to change to User2 ,but how to do ,please?
I can not longin doors with User2, thought I know the password of User2
I can only login doors with User1.

You cannot change users in the middle of a session. If there was the ability to do so, that would be a huge security issue. If you don't know the password of user2, then you can't log in as them.

And this is the purpose of permissions. To stop people from doing things who shouldn't be able to.

If you are the DOORS admin, log in as the Administrator and you can change the rights of user1 anywhere.

To expand on what David wrote, you don't have to log in as Administrator if you are a database manager. Just change the access rights as normal.

Also, you should not assign individual users to modules. You should only assign groups to modules. Shareable edit will not be fun to maintain if you assign users to modules. Further, it's just a cleaner way to manage the database.

Kevin even if he's a database manager, if he has read access rights to a module, he can't change his own access rights on that module.

Do I understand correctly: you know User2's password but you cannot login as user 2? Is it possible the database is set up to 'use system usernames', which means there is only one computer-workstation-network user who can use any particular DOORS user. That is, 'User1' is associated with you but 'User2' is associated with someone else.

No, you cannot switch users during a session. No, if you lack RMCDA access you cannot change anybody's access, including your own. No, even if you are a DB admin you still need RMCDA access to change the access.

David and Lou are correct (of course).

I always create a Database Admin group, and am always a member, and that group has RMCDA to every module in the database, and thus, I have RMCDA to every module in the database. You can also set up a group with RMCDA just for a specific project and have all modules i that project be RMCDA for the project group.

Either way, my point was that you don't want to login as Administrator unless you really have to. Chunjia needs to be a member of an Admin/Project Admin type of group.
