I am using a DOORS 8.1, Windows platform, Mozilla Firefox default browser. I have been able to create an external link (using DOORS 8.1 External Links capability) to an excel file using the url file protocol:
file://C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\myplace\My%20Documents\Systems%20Engineering\comments.xls I, however, cannot seem find the right protocol for identifying the sheet and cell location within the excel file. I have read the white paper and there is no example for excel. It doesn't look like anyone else has had any similar problems on this forum, so it might be an easy question to answer. Thanks, Don Fowler |

Hi Don,
I tried to create Hyperlinks from MS Word to an MS Excel file. This worked fine. You have to add something like this at end: file.xls#Table1!A1:B5 or file.xls#NamedArea But unfortunately I was not able to use this syntax outside MS Office. So it did not worked from IE and of couse ![]() So this may be a starting point for someone else ![]() Greetings Reik ------------------------- Evosoft GmbH for Siemens Industry Sector Berlin, Germany |

Hi Reik,
That seems to be the case. I didn't know about the "#" after the filename so I tried your suggestion and found it did not work any better with Mozilla Firefox. Without the capability to link to a specific location in the spreadsheet, the value of the External links is limited. Oh, well, it seemed like a good idea anyway. Thanks, Don |
