I'm exporting various tables from DOORS (using WEXP), which is working well apart from one problem.

If the filter applied in the view causes no objects to be shown, the export displays the error message "There are no objects in the current view." and gives up.

I'd like to be able to export the attributes as the header row of the empty table into Word, rather than nothing so it is clear to the reader that it is intentional.

Alternatively, is it possible to export some text such as "no objects found"?

Is it possible to use DXL to export a string if a view returns no objects?

Oneanswer is to have an empty object that is always included in views. Have an attribute (say 'PRINT THIS') which is true, but not part of any view. If you make it the last object in a module it will just give a blank line at the end of any view.

Robert,

This isn't ideal because it will affect my metrics, it would also mean that I need to continually change my filters (to display the dummy object when there's nothing else to display and to not display the dummy object when there is something to display).

Is there a better way to export just the headings of the table when all objects are filtered out? Or display a message to say "intentionally left blank"?
