I am trying to do a CSV export using DOORS v8 as follows:-

File|Export|Spreadsheet, with the following settings:-
Export: Displayed columns
Include: Display set only (although the same applies to "All objects")
Set the "Include attribute names/column titles in first row
Data separator: Comma
Advance tab: Encoding 65001 (UTF-8) - the default

I get the following (as shown in a text editor):-

"ID","Proposed CR Number","Implemented CR Number","A2N 45007853 v4.1 draft - Detailed Design Document","Object Type","Links"
"DBRA10",,,"11 END","Design Rationale",

The exact same export produces the exact same results in DOORS v7.

If I view the DOORS v7 output in Excel, I get exactly what I expect to, two lines of data in five columns.

If I view the DOORS v8 output in Excel, I see cell separation completely different, still with surrounding quotes, almost as if the CSV has not correctly recognised the comma separation.

In the top row I get:-
"ID","Proposed
CR Number","Implemented CR
Number","A2N
45007853
v4.1
draft
-
Detailed
Design
Document
","Object
Type","Links"

In the second row I get:-
"DBRA10",,,"11
END","Design Rationale",

If I open the CS in a text editor and save it unchanged, the DOORS v8 CSV output becomes identical to that exported in DOORS v7, except that where v7 inserts a CR, v8 inserts a CR+LF.

So, what is the DOORS v8 export doing that requires some hidden correction via a text editor, that DOORS v7 does not do?

Any ideas?

Telelogic introduced a bug in version 8. If you open the csv into word you can see several characters at first of file that were invisible when opening the file in notepad.

Error has to do with UTF encoding.

Example: When using MS-DOS encoding extra characters are seen below:

a,b,c
d,e,f

An easy way to remove the UTF-8 encoding is to open file in Notepad and save with Encoding set to ANSI
