Using DOORS 7.1, I have a view which has a layout DXL column which is causing DOORS to crash out completely.
I'd like to be able to get access to this view, so that I can make a note of the columns in it, before deleting the view and recreating it with a modified "working" layout DXL.
Is there any way I can do this?

Alan,
There is a Kitchen Script called 'save view as DXL' This can be run on the module to save the offending view as a complete DXL script. Comment out the layout DXL column and then run in a new module or on the same module after the offending view has been deleted. If you haven't got the script, let me know & I can ping it across. ------------------------- Dave +44 (0)23 9270 5711 david.robbins@astrium.eads.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EADS Astrium, Anchorage Road Portsmouth. Thanks Dave,
I'll make a note to check for that.
In the meantime I resolved the problem by creating another view and using the same layout DXL with crucial lines commented out until I identified that the module contained recursive intra-links. Once I'd removed them, the original view was okay again - and has now had a bit more defensive checking built in.

When you get bad layout DXL, it is very frustrating and difficult to fix.
The DXL runs and throws errors when the view is opened and the dxl is also run when you open manage views. I have a simple utility that scans layout DXL for errors and reports them back. Here is a link to it Scan Layout DXL This will tell you the view name and column where errors are found. ------------------------- Tony Goodman http://www.smartdxl.com |
