Christian,

I'm not sure I know why your emails aren't being sent, but to answer your question, I think the client sends emails, at least when you use the sendEMailNotification() function in DXL.  I ran into problems with our SMTP server because it would forward emails sent by the DOORS server but not by a DOORS client running on someone's machine.

Christian,

If you've got Exchange anywhere in the mix (running virtual SMTP) you may be running across this bug (also in play for Exchange 2003):
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=842588

If the mail to your admin is going through a different server, that would explain it.  If this is the problem, you either need to get the patch (not yet available for 2003) or uncheck the "Filter messages with blank sender" security option to get it to work.

Good luck.

We had Email notification working. I practiced with it a little. Then we had the DOORS v7.1 patch 11 DB corruption issue and we lost our notification. Nobody could recall the DB Property settings to make them work, nor could anybody recall anything about it. That's particularly annoying since I lost the turf wars a couple years ago and these folks were deliberately excluding me from such things as, well, making the DB work, even though they had no real idea themselves, but I digress...

However, while they were working I wrote the attached code figuring to use it as a basis for scripts that would notify folks of things they need to be notified of. The code required the DB settings to be correct, but I don't recall what they were nor the nuances of making them work.

Perhaps there's something in the code that will trigger a solution in someone.
