When trying to save a view that has it's own permissions I've received an error even though I have full read and write privileges to the module. Is there a way to get around permissions in a script?
Currently I have a way to catch the error, but I would like to get around it. The script that I'm specifically am using is a view copying script that has been used for at least a year and has never encountered this error before.
Also has anyone else experienced this problem of only a view having permissions that even an admin in doors can't save?

Can you be more specific on the error?

Permissions to the Module do not guarantee permissions to existing views. In fact, generally, only the person who creates a view is granted edit rights to it. That's why it should be routine for folks who create a view, to go back into it Views men >Manage Views, and adjust its access rights granting other folks (like the admins) modify rights.
The 'get around' would be to log in as the Administrator and adjust the rights to the view. Be advised, however, that v7.1 DOORS had a serious bug when the Adminstrator created a view. Well, the Administrator was granted a specific access record which messed things up for reasons I won't go into here. Again, the solution was to log in as the Administrator and remove such access records. - Louie |

Hello,
this brute force DXL sets all View access rights of all Modules in the current Folder to inherited. Make sure that this is really what you want! Regards, Andreas ------------------------- Andreas Schwarz a.schwarz@ieee.org Austrian Aerospace htp://www.space.at |

You'd need to run as the 'Administrator' to make sure you can modify the access to the views.
The 'for s in view(m) do' loop should be preceded with a 'currrent = m' statement, to make SURE that the module you just opened is in fact the current module; since the 'v = view(s)' statement presumes that. Change the 'name' function to 'fullName' in the 'canControl' statement. - Louie |
