My company will be switching from using Doors 8.3 to 9.1.

I have the following questions:
1. For normal DXL scripts, will they still all work (is 9.1 DXL scripts backwards compatible?)
2. We were told that we would need to re-compile some scripts for 9.1 (These were scripts that we did not write but were given the compiled version of/or were included with DOORS to start with). How do I go about re-compiling these as we were told we would have to?

Thanks in advance,
Kyle

Also, 9.1 is backwards compatible w/ 8.3 DXL code, correct? (so scripts will still run the same)

Unlike the jump from v5 to v6 featuring Rich Text and OLE in 'Text' attributes, I see no significant differences in v8 and v9 formats, so old DXL should run fine.

The encryption method used for 9.1 is different from that used by earlier versions.
IBM currently provide 2 versions, one works for 8.x and 9.0, the other works for 9.1 only.

If you have any encrypted DXL then you need to re-encrypt it to work on 9.1.

Telelogic...sorry IBM... can do this for you if you have lost (or don't have) the source. I am not sure whether they will charge for this service.

Also be aware: Tel... IBM has included a new Regular Expression engine. And, although it is 'claimed' to be backward compatible, there is no guarantee, as far as I see it.

From the DOORS 9.1 ReadMe:

The regular expression engine has changed. Steps have been taken to ensure DXL compatibility but there may be differences in DXL execution between Telelogic DOORS 8.3 and 9.0 and Telelogic DOORS 9.1. If any issues arise, contact Customer Support.

This is a little scary, perhaps? If you have built up a big set, I wouldn't look forward to testing all the scripts for all situations.

I'm also puzzled as to the change history, specifically the Known Problems. This looks a lot like the known problems for version 8.1. All the problems that were fixed in 8.3 have reappeared, but the ones open in 8.3 have disappeared once more.

I assume there's a good explanation to this, but I can't be completely sure.

Thought you should know.
