![]() Answer: Thanks for your help everyone. My error appears to have been not ensuring (not knowing!) the bookmark covered all the text. All is well now. The lack of a section break didn't appear to affect anything, but I've added it in now anyway. | |

Good afternoon. I'm having great difficulty understanding how to use Object Templates. I appear to be following the WExp manual correctly. In the WEXP Template column I have the bookmark name (ObTp5, or ObTp6 as appropriate). OBJECT TEMPLATES Some more text: <<Object Text>>
<<Object Text>>

Hi David,
did you make sure that the bookmarks cover the complete paragraph, not just the location where the paragraph starts? That's difficult to tell from your "transcripted" example. Can't you attach the .dot file? Plus, in your example there are a bit too many angle brackets. I don't know whether this can cause the problem, but just in case you should make sure that any attribute is enclosed in just 2 opening and closing brackets and that's it. Another possibility might be that there must be a section break just before the paragraph containing "OBJECT TEMPLATES" Cheers, Peter Edited: 12-Apr-2007 at 13:09 by Peter Albert |

Hi Peter.
Thanks for your reply. The extra angle brackets appear to be a copying error. I did only put in 2. Nor do I think that there is a section break just before the paragraph.
However, I do not understand your comment about making the bookmark cover the complete paragraph. Isn't a bookmark just a location at the start?
It is not possible to upload the DOT file to the general discussion, but I did post the same message (with the DOT) to the DXL discussion.
Thanks again
David Nicholson

David,
Peter is right, there must be a section break just before the "Object Templates" section and the layout definitions must be INSIDE the bookmarks, which would look somewhat like this maybe: [ Requirement Id: <<Object Identifier>>ffice <<Object Text:keepFormat>> Priority: <<c_Priority>> Remark: <<c_Remark>>] |

hm, there are some additional angular brackets (and an emoticon and twice the string "ffice") in my post, that I didn't put there. they probably appear because I copy-pasted the template example from my dot-file ...
