Answer:
Hi Roger,

For everybody's info......

I downloaded a demo version of Installsheild AdminStudio 5.5 and created a snapshot with the "Repackager" program located in that suite and that snaphot seems to work. I am testing it using Novell ZenWorks now and the only problem I have is shortcuts not appearing correctly.

Thanks for everybody's help,

Jeff

Hi,

I along with a co-worker have been trying to use Novell ZenWorks to create an automated install to install the DOORS 7.0 Client as well as the Training DB. The original snapshot we created with only the DOORS 7.0 Client on there worked great. However, when we created another snapshot with the DOORS Training DB included, we got the following message when we tried to connect to the Training DB: "Cannot connect to 29999@DOORSTRAININGDBTEST Server not found". We have come to the conclusion that it's because the the The DOORS DB Server 7.0 00001 service is not started and is unable to start. The specific meesage we get in the Event Log is: "The DOORS DB Server 7.0 00001 service terminated with service-specific error 1". We have yet to be able to figure out why the service isn't starting. We are running Windows 2000 Pro as our OS. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Jeff

The training DB is loaded locally on each client. In DOORS v5 you could simply "map" to a local drive, but in v6 and v7 you need to have the server running on your client, even to run on a local DB.

This sounds real familiar. Try this:

There should be an icon in your Start>>Telelogcc>DOORS7>> menu that mentions the DOORS training DB. Actually there are two icons; one is clearly the DOORS.exe icon (red/yellow) and the other is some sort of DOS/Windows icon. Rename the DOS icon to "Enable v7 Training".

You need to start that DOS icon (the DOORS server on you client) before trying to start the client.

Hi Louie,

I don't think there is any DOS icon for the DOORS 7.0 Training DB. I know in DOORS 6.0 Training there was a dos window (the service) you had to start before you could use the Training DB. However, In DOORS 7.0, there is only the doors.exe icon. It is still a service that needs to be started, but it's not automatically starting with windows and when you try to start it manually, it gives me that error that I previously mentioned.

It is important to note that when I do the installations manually, everything works fine. It's only when I use the ZenWorks Snaphot that the Training DB service won't start. Also, I tried renaming the Windows "DOORS Training" shortcut to "Enable v7 Training", but alas it did not help.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks, Jeff
