Hi,

Is it possible to set up DOORS on a laptop such that when it's on a network, it uses the data server over the network but when it's not it uses a server installed on it?

Reason being it would be nice to be able to view modules away from base, by importing a DMA file into the local data server.

Is this possible?

Any help appreciated!

Easiest way can be found by looking in the help file under "Command Line Switches"

You'll need to resolved the licensing issue, I hear v8.0 allows someone to 'check out' a license.

I complete Ron's thought: if you install DOORS to point to the production database then your DOORS icon's Target just says '...\bin\doors.exe'. After you install the DB Server on your laptop and create a DOORS database therein, you'll need a new DOORS icon perhaps named 'DOORS Local' with a target that says perhaps '..\bin\doors.exe -d 38000@MyClientName', where you defined port 38000 as the port the DOORS server should use when you installed it.

Might as well rename the original DOORS icon to perhaps 'DOORS Live'.
