I have a VERY large table in one of my DOORS objects. It is an OLE table that spans 7 standard pages in Word. Currently in DOORS, only the first page of this table is displayed int he object text of the object. The Project Manager wants the whole table to be displayed without having to activate the OLE.
I tried lengthening the paper under page setup, to accommodate the size of the table, but Word maxes out at a 22 inch page length and this table will require about 42 inches of length. Is there something I'm missing or is this just impossible? ------------------------- Matt Herald Systems Engineering Tools Administrator ITT Corporation - Communications Systems Fort Wayne, IN |

I used to work for ITT in Fort Wayne.
Don't know how to display a huge OLE. Wonder how that huge OLE would print. We just break up the tables into manageable chunks, table 3.1-1a, 3.1-1b. Increasing paper size pretty clever, never thought of that. You could reduce the font in the table to make the rows narrower. You could embed the OLE table inside an OLE Diagram, giving you two paper sizes to manipulate. - Louie |

If a table spans over 2 pages in Word and you import it into DOORS 8.3 as an OLE, it will only display (and also print) the first page of that table in DOORS. If you double-click to do an edit-in-place, it will still only display the first page.
In 8.1 it would still only display the first page of the table, but double-clicking it would reveal the rest of the table. As Louie says, you'll have to break the table down, because increasing page sizes or reducing fonts will only give you a few extra rows. The only other option is use a DOORS table, that will display the large number of rows you want. FYI--this isn't a DOORS issue, it's just how OLEs are displayed in any application within windows.
If you use WEXP, you can export Word OLEs and WEXP can transform those OLEs to Word documents so you don't have the same problem on export to Word. ------------------------- Kevin Murphy http://www.baselinesinc.com |
