All,

We have a need to export to separate tabs (worksheets) within one Excel file. This would be based on the value of an attribute in the module.
Example:
Sheet 1 - Where color (attribute) = Brown
Sheet 2 = Yellow
etc.

Currently, we filter based on the value and run the standard Excel export. Then the results are all copied onto separate worksheets of one Excel file. This is leading to many mistakes by our users.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian,

If you are looking for a code example, our Enhanced Export to Excel does have the option to export OLE objects to a second worksheet. You may be able to incorporate similar additions into the standard Excel exporter that Telelogic provides.

Hi,
I just finished some code that allows us to post data to selected sheets in an excel workbook. It was pretty simple stuff, much gleaned from Galactic, and the doors exporter examples.

Hope this helps
Carlton

Great responses so far but I was wondering if the decision as to which worksheet to export to can be made for each object in a DOORS module. Right now, the solutions are aimed at exporting the ENTIRE module to a specific worksheet in an excel file. I could potentially write a function that decides what worksheet in an excel file a specific object needs to be exported to. Any idea where this snippet of code should be added to the standard DXL exporter. Your input with regard to this would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Somewhere around line 276.

Really, it would be easier for you to use some code from other people rather than Telelogic's. Good luck.

Hi,

I did not use Telelogic's code. I used the code from the person that posted earlier in this thread and I got it to work. Thank you for the suggestion.

Regards,

Pranav
