I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I know that you can point a client to different directories by just changing the registry entry. I know of no reason why that wouldn't work with the server as well.

If you don't want to poke about in the registry, you can just re-install DOORS pointing at the new location and then copy the files over.

Hello,
I tried the registry setting just now but after a reboot I get an error from the license file: feature removed or wrong server name... Strange, I only changed the path in the registry from C to D... Another strange detail in the license file: my hostid has completely changed!
Just out of curiosty, is it possible that adding a second physical hard disk causes the doors license to become corrupt or recalculated based on the hardware?

Hi Frisco,
I know from other tools, that Flex LM is able to handle different methods to bind on hardware. It can use network controller's MAC address or harddisk Id or .... So it might be very conceivable that this is the problem ... Greetings Reik Schröder ------------------------- Evosoft GmbH for Siemens Industry Sector Berlin, Germany |

What happened in the mean time is that after some investigation it would seem that adding a second harddrive has changed our ethernet address... Don't ask me why, I have only added an additional harddisk... To make things even more strange, this machine only has 1 single ethernet card and no Wifi or other connection possibilities. During the past few months we have rebooted multiple times and absolutely no problems.
I have been in contact with the support of Doors and they will recalculate a license based on the new ethernet address. I will keep this thread updated.
