Scope

These release notes provide information on installing and using the IBM Rational Post Install Configuration Tool - the PICT, which can be used to configure the IDE for the following IBM Rational products.

  • XDE Developer for Java Platform (versions 2003.06.12)

  • XDE Developer Plus for Java Platform (versions 2003.06.12)

  • XDE Tester (version 2003.06.012)

  • PurifyPlus (version 2003.06.012)

    • The PICT will allow you to configure the IDE in which the foregoing XDE products can be integrated without having to resort to an uninstall and re-install of the XDE product. 

    Installation

    You can install the PICT by opening its setup file directly from its download location.  Alternatively, you can install it by first downloading its setup file, pict_setup.exe, to your machine and then opening it from its location on your machine.

     

    Operation

    To start the PICT, click the left mouse button of the Windows Start menu and then click the following sequence Programs -> IBM -> PICT -> Post Install Configuration Tool.

     

    Once started, the PICT will detect and display the current configurations of your Rational products.  You will then be able to select each product individually, review its current shell configuration, and change its configuration to any alternative shell that is installed.  To complete the reconfiguration, click on the Change Shell button.


    Uninstallation

    To remove the Post Install Configuration Tool follow these steps:

  • Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel

  • Select Add/Remove Programs from within the Control Panel

  • From Add/Remove Programs, select the Post Install Configuration Tool program and click Add/Remove

  • From the InstallShield Wizard, click the Remove option and then the click the Next command button; click OK to confirm removal
