Problems

The following problems have been encountered with Host On-Demand running in a Chinese (Traditional) language environment:

  • Incorrect font with Internet Explorer 4.0 on Windows NT
  • Euro symbol is not displayed correctly on a Windows client using code page 1371
  • Incorrect font with Internet Explorer 4.0 on Windows NT

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 does not specify the correct font for Chinese. You can fix this by replacing the data for the Courier font with simiti (written in Chinese) in the following registry entry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Java VM\Font Alias\Courier

Euro symbol is not displayed correctly on a Windows client using code page 1371

In a Windows NT, Windows 98, or Windows 2000 client, using code page 1371, the Euro symbol is not displayed correctly due to the restrictions of fonts in Windows.

In code page 1371, single byte character set (SBCS) and double byte character set (DBCS) Euro symbols are displayed as the same size because only one unicode of Euro symbol is defined.
