Installing the IBM Knowledge Center Locally

To install the IBM Z Development and Test Environment Knowledge Center locally on a Windows systems, do these steps:
  1. Connect by anonymous FTP to ftp://download.boulder.ibm.com.
  2. Open folder /software/rationalsdp/documentation/kcci_product_help/zdt/zdt120.
  3. Download the file KC-CI_SSTQBD_12.0.0.zip to C:\.
  4. Extract the KC-CI_SSTQBD_12.0.0.zip file to C:\.
    The following folders are created:
    KnowledgeCenter
         bin
         etc
         java
         logs
         runtime
         server
         usr
         kc.properties
         README.TXT

    Note: Ensure to extract the KnowledgeCenter folder to C:\KnowledgeCenter.

  5. Open the bin folder.
    The bin folder contains the following files:
    kc-16x16-menu.png
    kc-256x256-desktop.png
    kc-48x48-desktop.png
    kc-desktop.ico
    kc-favicon.ico
    kc-menu.ico
    kc_ant.bat
    launchKC.bat
    portutil.jar
    setupCmdLine.bat
    startKC.bat
    stopKC.bat
  6. To start the IBM Knowledge Center, double-click startKC.bat.

    A command prompt opens, the IBM Knowledge Center starts, and then the command prompt closes.

  7. To open the IBM Z Development and Test Environment Knowledge Center, use the URL:http://localhost:9090/kc.

    The IBM Z Development and Test Environment Knowledge Center opens in the default web browser.

  8. To change the language in which the IBM Knowledge Center is displayed, select a language from the list at the right top of the browser.
