System requirements

To run Rational Change for DOORS Interface 5.7 you need:

• One of the following operating systems installed on your computer:
  
  • Windows Vista Enterprise SP1
  • Windows XP Professional Sp3
  • Windows 2003 Server (via Citrix Metaframe)

Operating system locales supported by Rational Change for DOORS Interface 5.7

The Rational Change for DOORS Interface is supported in the following Windows locales: Japanese, Korean, PRC/Simplified/GBK Chinese, Traditional/Big-5 Chinese, and C. IBM supports use in any locale using the Latin-1 character set or the Windows extension CP 1252; however, such locales have not been tested.

• Telelogic DOORS 9.1 with Telelogic Change 5.1 and Telelogic Directory Server 4.3
• Rational DOORS 9.2 with Rational Change 5.2 and Rational Directory Server 5.0 (Tivoli version only)
• Optional - Rational Publishing Engine 1.1

Installing Rational Change for DOORS Interface 5.7

You should uninstall previous versions of the interface before you upgrade DOORS. If you see a message saying that the interface is already installed even after uninstalling it, remove the contents of the directory %DOORSHOME%\lib\dxl\addins\synergy and install again. Refer to the interface help for detailed installation instructions.

If you are upgrading from a release earlier than 5.2, you must upgrade the Requirement Change data in the Change database. Once the data has been upgraded, you will no longer be able to use older versions of the integration with the upgraded Change database. See the integration help for detailed upgrade instructions. If you are upgrading from Rational DOORS-Change 5.2 you do not need to perform this step.

You must update your CRProcess with the latest changes in the doors_cs_template in order for the integration to work correctly

Obtaining a license for Rational Change for DOORS Interface

Rational Change for DOORS Interface does not require a license.

What's new in version 5.7

• The RCR Report can now be generated using Rational Publishing Engine in addition to DocExpress

Known problems

• The “read security” feature in Change should not be applied to users that are using this integration.
• Using Insert->Picture in DOORS is not supported by the integration. Images are only supported if they are pasted into the DOORS document.
• Administrators cannot configure the integration if their computer is configured to use a proxy server that requires authentication.
• When using requirements change management, newly created objects cannot be the target of links from another module until after the RCR is applied
• Enabling or disabling DOORS/Analyst on modules that are configured for Requirements Change Management results in errors. If you wish to enable or disable DOORS/Analyst on a module, you must disable Requirements Change Management before doing so.
• Importing spreadsheets and text documents into requirements change management enabled modules may cause DXL errors
• Moving objects is not supported when using Requirements Change Management in shareable edit mode. Any moves will be discarded.
• DOORS/Analyst modules are not supported when using Requirements Change Management in shareable edit mode. Requirements Change Management of DOORS/Analyst modules must be done in exclusive edit mode.
• Requirements Change Management must be disabled in order to use the "Setup for Sharing" menu item in DOORS.
• When using Requirements Change Management in shareable edit mode, DXL errors are seen when trying to lock a section by selecting a newly created object. To workaround this, lock the section by selecting an object that existed when you opened the module.
• The contents of the default RCR will not be loaded when switching from Exclusive Edit Mode to Shareable Edit mode using the Edit menu. To workaround this, close and reopen the module in shareable edit mode from the DOORS Module Explorer.
• Downgrading a module that is configured to use Requirements Change Management from Exclusive Edit mode to Shareable Edit mode may result in errors when locking sections. To workaround this, close the module and open it in shareable edit mode directly from the DOORS Module Explorer
• Requirement change objects that were upgraded from a release of the integration prior to 5.2 will not display links to DOORS when viewed in Change.
• When working in shareable edit mode in a module that is configured to use Requirements Change Management, if you create a new object immediately below the first object in a section, the newly created object will receive a different absolute number each time you open the module in shareable edit mode with the same Requirements Change Request. When the Requirements Change Request is applied, the object will be created with the first absolute number it was assigned.
• If version 5.6.0 of the integration is already installed, upgrade to version 5.7.0 is possible only when the installer is run normally. The upgrade will fail if the installer is run in silent or passive modes. This is due to a limitation with MSI installer.
• The “Configuring modules for use with the interface” section of the Administration Guide is incorrect. Step 9 should read:

  If you want to display Telelogic DOORS attributes besides the default in Telelogic Change, click DOORS Attributes to Display in Change.
  The Select DOORS Attributes to Show in ChangeRequest – DOORS dialog box appears.

  1. Select the attribute and then click Edit Change Attribute
  2. Enter the name you wish to use for the attribute in Change.
  3. After performing steps a and b for each attribute you wish to display in Change, click Apply, then Close.
  Note You must customize the report in Rational Change to include the attribute names specified in step b before any additional attributes will be shown.

Fixed problems

• R31464 - Display Multiple RCR and Review RCR do not handle paragraph breaks correctly
• R30589 - Apply a role based control mechanism to apply - only users with Project Manager and Database Manager will be able to apply changes
• R29284 - Cannot delete incoming links and the target object with the same RCR
• R30824 - Sync IR failed to update the associated requirements in Change
• Unable to use the integration when the TDS/RDS server URLs used by Change and DOORS are not identical but still point to the same server
• Performance of the recording process is much slower than Telelogic Change for DOORS Interface Release 5.5 and 5.4
• Performance of opening modules in Exclusive Edit and Shareable Edit Mode is much slower than Telelogic Change for DOORS Interface Release 5.5 and 5.4
