This topic provides the instructions for silently installing Data Studio.
Procedure
To install IBM® Data Studio silently:
- Extract the product package to any directory on your computer,
for example: c:\temp\datastudio.
- From the directory in the previous step, issue the following
command:
- On Windows systems: install.exe -r installer.properties_directory_path
- On Linux systems: ./install.bin -r installer.properties_directory_path
where installer.properties_directory_path is
the fully qualified directory path and file name of the installer.properties file.
- Follow the wizard steps to install the product and generate
a response file that saves your install settings.
When
the installation process is complete, a message confirms the success
of the process.
A response file called installer.properties is
saved to the same directory from which you started the installation.
Typically,
you use this response file to perform another installation on a different
computer.
- To install the product silently using the response file
that you generated, run the following command:
- If you are running the command from directory that includes
the installer.properties file:
- On Windows systems: Run install.exe -i silent.
- On Linux systems: Run ./install.bin -i silent.
- If you are running the command from a different directory
from the installer.properties file:
- On Windows systems: Run install.exe -i silent -f installer.properties_directory_path
- On Linux systems: Run ./install.bin -i silent -f installer.properties_directory_path
where installer.properties_directory_path is
the fully qualified directory path and file name of the installer.properties file.
Results
When the installation process is complete, a message confirms
the success of the process. For problem determination, you can view
the installation log files in the directory where you installed the
product:
- installation_directory/logs/rcpinstall_details_timestamp.log
- installation_directory/logs/rcpinstall_summary_timestamp.log
where
installation_directory is the directory
where you installed the product and
timestamp is
the date and time the log file was created.
What to do next
You can open the product from the Start menu (on Windows
systems) or run
./datastudio (on Linux systems).
