Compatibility of change management scripts in IBM Data Studio

You cannot run change management scripts from Optim™ Database Administrator with IBM® Data Studio.

The most recent versions of Optim Database Administrator use change management scripts to manage changes to DB2® for Linux, UNIX, and Windows databases. The Change Management Script Editor is used to create a change management script, define the database changes to include in the script, generate the commands that implement the changes, and run the commands.

IBM Data Studio uses change plans to manage changes to DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows databases. The Change Management Script Editor no longer exists. You use change plans to define the database changes, generate the commands that implement the changes, preserve data for destructive changes, run the commands, and undo the commands.

When you upgrade to IBM Data Studio, change management scripts from Optim Database Administrator are not converted into change plans. However, the projects that were created for change management scripts still exist. You can find the project for a change management script in the Data Source Explorer and review the do and undo scripts and other resources, such as reports, that were created for the change management script.
