InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager data in the SQL Outline view

If InfoSphere® Optim™ Performance Manager Extended Edition is monitoring SQL statements that are run on a database from applications, you can import the performance data from the InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager repository database.

InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager gathers and aggregates performance data for SQL statements that are issued from an application and that are run on a database that is monitored by InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager. You can import SQL performance data from the InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager repository database and display the data for the SQL statements in the SQL Outline view. To retrieve the data from a repository database, you create an Optim Performance Manager profile that defines the connection to a repository database.

The following illustration shows how the workbench imports the SQL performance data that is gathered by Optim Performance Manager.

Tip: You can enable your Java project so that InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager Extended Edition captures SQL performance data from a Java database application that you run from the workbench. For more information, see Enabling collection of database performance data for Java applications that are run from the workbench.

InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager extended insight data

When you display Optim Performance Manager performance data in the SQL Outline view, the following columns are displayed:
  • Number of Executions
  • Total Data Server Time (ms)
  • Average Data Server Time (ms)
  • Average Network Time (ms)
  • Average Rows Read
  • Average Rows Returned
  • Rows Returned Ratio1
  • Average CPU Time (ms)
  • Total Sorts
  • Table Scans (DB2® for z/OS® databases only)1
  • Index Scans (DB2 for z/OS databases only)
  • Physical Page I/Os
  • Logical Page I/Os
Note:
  1. The Rows Returned Ratio and Table Scans columns display an icon that indicates the efficiency of the SQL performance. A yellow warning icon or a red alert icon indicates that efficiency of the SQL statement is relatively low based on the rows returned ratio or the table scans metrics. You can adjust the threshold when a warning or alert icon is displayed by setting the value of the threshold for the efficiency levels in the Preferences window.

In the SQL Outline view, the InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager data is displayed only for the SQL statements that are listed in the view. If performance data is imported for SQL statements that are not in the view, that data is not displayed. When data is displayed, the data is displayed on the row that lists the SQL statement without a line number. The imported data does not contain the information to match the performance data to a specific SQL statement at a source code line number. If the SQL statement is listed more than once, the same performance information is displayed for each occurrence of the statement.
