Displaying and managing database objects in the Object List

Use the Object List to display the database objects for the object type folders that are displayed in the Administration Explorer for each database.

Procedure

To display and manage your database objects with the Object List, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Administration Explorer, drill down to and expand the contents of the database that you want to work with.
  2. Click the folder that contains the type of object that you want to work with. For example, click the Tables folder.

    The Object List opens and the list of the objects for the object type that you chose are displayed.

  3. Find the object that you want to work with and right-click it to display the context-sensitive menu of available actions.
    To work with multiple objects of the same type, select the objects and then right-click to display the context-sensitive menu.
    Tip: To easily find an object, you can enter characters in the Object Name Search field. When you use the Object Name Search field, only the objects that meet your specified criteria are displayed. The Object Name Search field is not case-sensitive. Use one or more percent (%) characters for a wildcard search character, and use one or more underscore (_) characters to match a single character.
  4. On the context-sensitive menu, click the action that you want to do. For example, click Alter to start the process to change the object.

You can also use the Object List to view the properties of objects and perform actions on objects, you can change the properties that are displayed in the Object List and the order in which they are displayed, define custom properties, sort the column data, and filter the data that is displayed.
