If your Java application
runs SQL statements, you can simplify the development and testing
of SQL statements by adding data access development support to your Java project. With data access development
support, you can test SQL statements by running them from the Java editor and perform other tasks
when you develop Java applications
that run SQL statements.
About this task
When you enable data access development support for your Java project, you associate a database
connection with the project. The workbench uses the database information
when you work with SQL statements in your project.
Procedure
To enable data access development support:
- In the Package Explorer, right-click
your Java project select .
- In the Add Data Access Development Support wizard,
specify an existing database connection or create a new connection
and complete the wizard.
If you enable pureQuery support
when you enable data access development support, you can also specify
settings for pureQuery support.
Results
With data access development support, you can perform tasks
such as:
- Run SQL statements from your Java files.
The statements are run on the database you associated with the Java project.
- Create and edit SQL statements in your Java project with the SQL and XQuery Editor.
The syntax highlighting, content assist, and query parsing and validation
are based on the database you associated with the Java project.
- See the relationships between SQL statements, database objects,
and your Java source code in
the SQL Outline view.
What to do next
If you did not enable pureQuery support, you can enable
it by right-click your Java project
and selecting . IBM® InfoSphere® Optim™ pureQuery
Runtime is a high-performance data access platform that is focused
on simplifying, developing, securing, managing, and optimizing new
and existing applications that access data.
Using pureQuery
Runtime in a production environment requires a pureQuery Runtime license.
