Use the Naming Standards Preferences
page to set naming standard preferences for data model analysis.
About this task
You can specify preferences for naming standards using
the Preferences window. These preferences are used during model analysis
for naming standard compliance.
Procedure
To set preferences for naming standards for data model
analysis:
- Click from the main menu.
- Click .
- On the Logical page, set preferences for
entity and attribute object names. You can specify whether
prime words, class words, and modifiers are mandatory or optional,
and the order in which these elements should occur. You can also specify
valid separator characters.
- On the Physical-Table/Column page,
set preferences for table and column object names. You
can specify whether prime words, class words, and modifiers are mandatory
or optional, and the order in which these elements should occur. You
can also specify valid separator characters.
- On the Physical-Other page, set
preferences for data object names. The preferences for
data object names are used as the default for new object names, and
also during model analysis to validate naming standard compliance.
- On the Glossary page, specify a default glossary
model. You must specify a glossary model that is stored
in a data design project. When you specify a default glossary model,
this model is automatically selected whenever you perform a data model
analysis.
