When you set properties in a pdq.properties
file, the values of the properties apply to all pureQueryXML files
that are in the applications that reference the pdq.properties file.
About this task
Use this method of setting properties only
if the applications that share the properties all connect to the same
data source. Also, users of the applications must all have the same
set of privileges.
Procedure
- Create a plain-text file with the name pdq.properties.
- Specify the properties in the file. Set one
property per line, prefixing each property with pdq and
a period. For example:
pdq.captureMode=ON
pdq.traceFile=C:/log/app1LogFile.txt
pdq.traceLevel=INFO
- Save the file in either of the following
locations:
- If you are developing a Web application, place the pdq.properties file
in a JAR file. Place the JAR file containing the file in classpath
in which the pdq.jar file is located. For IBM® WebSphere® Application Server, the classpath
is the one that is used for the JDBC provider.
For example, you
can create a JAR file pdq_properties.jar that
contains the pdq.properties file.
When
updating WebSphere administration
information, listing the file pdq.properties in
the classpath is not sufficient.
- If you are developing a stand-alone application, place the pdq.properties file
in any folder or JAR file that is in the classpath for the application.
