Scenario: Deploying a WebSphere application with pureQuery client optimization

Application server environments commonly use JDBC-based Java applications to access data sources. There are some specific characteristics to be aware of when you deploy an application that is enabled with pureQuery client optimization in such an environment. A WebSphere® Application Server is a common environment that uses Java applications that access a DB2® data source. We describe deploying a Java application in a WebSphere environment. Deployments with other application servers will have similar considerations.

In this scenario, you enable and configure the server with pureQuery Runtime at the data source level of a WebSphere Application Server. The WebSphere Application Server is configured with a JDBC provider for the IBM® Data Server Driver for JDBC and SQLJ, you configure the provider with pureQuery Runtime. These tasks include enabling pureQuery Runtime, configuring the WebSphere application with pureQuery client optimization, and configuring pureQuery Runtime to execute SQL statements statically. Next you test the application, and then you migrate the application to a production environment and maintain the application in the production environment.
