You can generate and transfer to another DB2® for z/OS® subsystem
a set of files for recreating the environment for a query workload
on that subsystem. The files make it easy to reproduce the statistics,
database objects, and settings for system parameters on the target
subsystem.
Procedure
To generate and send this information to another DB2 for z/OS subsystem:
- Open either of the following locations in the workflow
assistant for query tuning:
- On the Manage and Tune Workloads page
of the Manage section, select the query workload
and click the
button above the table.
You can generate files that describe the environment for the selected
query workload.
- On the left side of the Review section,
after you run advisors and analysis tools on a query workload, click Capture
Workload Environment. You can generate files that describe
the environment for the current query workload.
- Select the Send the files to another subsystem
or save them to your workstation only option and type
a string of characters to use as a prefix for the generated files.
- Specify other report options that you might want to use.
- Specify the directory in which to generate the files on
your workstation.
- Specify the FTP settings for the DB2 for z/OS subsystem
where you plan to recreate the environment.
- Click Generate Report to generate
the files.
- Click Upload Files.
What to do next
On the subsystem, carry out these steps:
- View the content of the .parm file for the values of the DSNZPARMs
of the original subsystem and for additional information that is required
for reproducing the access paths for the SQL statements that are in
the query workload.
- Edit the .ddl job so that it conforms to the subsystem and then
run this job.
- Edit the .stats job so that it conforms to the subsystem and then
run this job.
The .zip file can be imported as a workload into another installation
of the IBM® Data Studio client.
