Create a response file to install silently
Procedure
To record the installation steps for a silent installation:
- Extract the installation image from the downloaded file
and verify that the installation image is complete. See Extracting and verifying electronic images.
- Enter the following command, using the -r option
to create the response file.
Important: If
you do not specify a value for the response_file variable,
the response file is created as the installer.properties file
in the same directory as the .exe. or .bin file. You must specify
a location if you run the .exe or .bin file from the DVD.
Run
the following command:
installer_name -r (response_file)
where
installer_name is
the name of the installation name for your operating system and
response_file is
the absolute path and name of the file that you want the installation
procedure to be recorded in. Specifying the response file is required
only if you are performing a silent installation from the DVD.
For example: IBM_OPQRT_V3_1_1_Windows -r c:\temp\myresponsefile.
- Complete the installation wizard, and stop when you reach
the Pre-Installation Summary page.
- Click Cancel. A response file is
created and resides in the location that you specified in the command.
