1.0 Overview

This document describes how to install or update the IBM® WebSphere® Business Integration Modeler Integration feature by using the IBM Rational® Product Updater. You should install or update this feature directly from the IBM update server. However, you can also download a ZIP file that contains this feature for local installations or updates. The following sections describe how to install or update this feature.

2.0 Installation and update prerequisites

Before you can install or update this feature you must install either IBM Rational Software Architect Interim Fix 003 or IBM Rational Software Modeler Interim Fix 003.

Also, if you disabled any product features through the Update Manager (by clicking Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration), or by modifying feature.xml files, you must re-enable them before you install or update this feature.

3.0 Installing the feature from the Rational Product Updater

Note: If you have already installed a previous version of this feature, you do not have to install the feature again. Please see section 4.0 Updating the feature from the Rational Product Updater for instructions that describe how to update this feature.

Install the feature with the same user account that installed Rational Software Architect or Rational Software Modeler.

Restrictions:

To install the feature, complete the following steps:

  1. Start the Rational Product Updater:
  2. Click Find Optional Features.


  3. If the Rational Product Updater requires an update, you are prompted to install it before you can continue. Click OK. The Rational Product Updater installs the update, restarts, and retrieves a list of available updates.

  4. By default, all available features are selected. Ensure that you select IBM WebSphere Business Integration Modeler Integration.


  5. Tip: To view the description for this feature, click the feature. The description is displayed in the Detailed information pane.

  6. Click Install Features.
  7. To accept the license agreement and continue the installation, click OK.


  8. Depending on the speed of your computer processor, the amount of RAM, and the speed of your Internet connection, the feature might take an extended period of time to download and install.

    After the installation is complete, the Rational Product Updater lists the installed features on the Installed Products page.

  9. Close the Rational Product Updater.

4.0 Updating the feature from the Rational Product Updater

Update the feature with the same user account that installed Rational Software Architect or Rational Software Modeler.

Restrictions:

To update the feature, complete the following steps:

  1. Start the Rational Product Updater:
  2. Click Find Updates.


  3. If the Rational Product Updater requires an update, you are prompted to install it before you can continue. Click OK. The Rational Product Updater installs the update, restarts, and retrieves a list of available updates.

  4. By default, all available updates are selected. Ensure that you select IBM WebSphere Business Integration Modeler Integration.


  5. Tip: To view the description for this feature, click the feature. The description is displayed in the Detailed information pane.

  6. Click Install Updates.

5.0 Downloading the feature for local installations or updates

You should install or update the feature directly from the IBM update server; however, it is also available for download. You might want to download the feature in the following situations:

To download and install or update the feature for Rational Software Architect, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the feature from ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/rationalsdp/rsa/60/zips/rsa60_wbi_import_ifeature002.zip.
  2. Extract the feature to a temporary directory, such as C:\temp.
  3. For installation and update instructions, navigate to C:\temp\rsa\ and open install_local_wbi_002.html.

To download and install or update the feature for Rational Software Modeler, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the feature from ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/rationalsdp/rsm/60/zips/rsm60_wbi_import_ifeature002.zip.
  2. Extract the feature to a temporary directory, such as C:\temp.
  3. For installation and update instructions, navigate to C:\temp\rsm\ and open install_local_wbi_002.html.
