Joining a UCM Project and Creating UCM Web Views

Use the Join Project Wizard to join a UCM project and create UCM Web views.

As part of creating a ClearCase® view, you connect to a CM server. You can use an existing connection or create a new one.

The Join Project Wizard automates the tasks of joining a project and creating UCM views bound to the project's streams.

To join a project and create the Web views in which you will work on project activities:

  1. Click Join Project on the Front Desk toolbar. A window opens prompting you to select either a snapshot/dynamic view or a Web view.
  2. Select Web view and click OK. The Join Project wizard opens.
  3. If no server is listed, click Connect to open the Change Management window. Login to the CM server. If you do not know the CM server web address, contact your ClearCase administrator.
  4. Select a UCM project to join:
    1. Select the Project VOB in which the project is defined.
    2. Expand the VOB folder to view the list of projects defined in the VOB. If projects in the VOB are grouped into folders, expand the folders to find the project you want to join.
    3. Select the project you want to join and click Next.
  5. Follow the remaining steps in the wizard to create a UCM development view, UCM integration view, or both.
The new view appears in the Views page of the Front Desk.
After you have created the view, the wizard opens the Edit Configuration window, where you can create load rules and load the view with resources from ClearCase repositories. For more information about this and other ways to load resources, see Loading resources into a ClearCase view.
