Using floating and named-user floating licenses

You can configure the license server to use floating or named-user floating licenses.

To enter a temporary or import a permanent key on the server:

  1. Install the IBM Rational® license server software on the server computer. For installation instructions, see the topic Managing licenses with Rational Common Licensing under the Installing and upgrading section in either the IBM Rational ClearCase® Information Center or the IBM Rational ClearQuest® Information Center.
  2. Enter the license information or import the permanent license key.
  3. Start the license server.
  4. Give client users the license server name to enter into their License Key Administrator (LKAD) . This step is not necessary if the server name was entered into a site defaults file in a network release area. For more information about release areas, read the IBM Rational product installation information.
