Use the ClearCase® Search
window to search ClearCase views
for resources in various states (checked-out, hijacked, or view-private),
and then perform common Rational® ClearCase source
control operations on the resulting artifacts.
Enter a location in the
Search folder field
to search a specific folder in a local
ClearCase view.
You can type the folder name, select from a list of recently used folders,
or browse for the folder location.
When the ClearCase Search
window is opened from the menu,
the location displayed in the Search folder field is
seeded with the folder of the currently open project, if any. When the window
is opened from a context menu within Front Desk, the Search folder is
seeded with the root directory of the selected view.
Select or clear
the check boxes in the Search For section to specify
the state of the files you want to find.
Toolbar Buttons
The
ClearCase Search
window toolbar contains the following buttons that enable configuration of
search parameters, customization of results display, and other common
Rational ClearCase operations.
- Search Options
- Displays search options in the main pane of the ClearCase Search
window.
Select or clear the check boxes in the Search for section
to specify the ClearCase state
of the files you want to find.
- Select Checked out files to find checked out files.
- Select Hijacked files to find hijacked files.
- Select View-private files to find view-private
files (files that have not been added to Rational ClearCase source
control).
You can select any or all of the check boxes.
You can also
use the radio buttons in the Include additional folders section
of the pane to restrict or enlarge the scope of the search.
- Add to source
- Adds selected view private files to source control.
- Checkout
- Checks out all selected items, so that files can be edited.
- Check In
- Checks in all selected items, including any changes to the checked out
files.
- Undo Checkout
- Cancels the checkout of all selected items. Note that the undo checkout
operation reverts to the unedited state of the file; any changes to these
files will be lost.
- Reserve
- Changes an unreserved checkout to reserved for all selected items. The
view with a reserved checkout has the exclusive right to check in a new version
for a branch or stream.
- Unreserve
- Changes a reserved checkout to unreserved for all selected items.
An
unreserved checkout does not guarantee the right to create the successor version
of an artifact. If several views have unreserved checkouts, the first view
to check in the element on a branch or stream creates the successor; developers
who are working in other views must merge the checked-in changes into their
own work before they can check in.
- Compare
- Opens the Diff Merge tool, which enables you to compare a file with its
predecessor.
- Version Tree
- Starts the Rational ClearCase Version
Tree Browser, which displays graphical version information for the selected
file.
- History
- Starts the Rational ClearCase History
Browser, a graphical user interface for viewing the event records of Rational ClearCase objects.
- Properties
- Opens a window displaying version information for the selected file.
- Leafname
- Toggles the element list between displaying full pathnames or leaf names.
- Column settings
- Opens the Column Settings window, which enables you to customize the column
categories that will be displayed and the column order.
Depending on the Rational ClearCase features
installed, settings are separated by view type. The Dynamic/Snapshot tab
provides settings for columns displaying information for dynamic and snapshot
views. The Web tab, similarly, displays settings for
Web views.
Note: The names of Column Settings tabs
and their availability depends upon which Rational ClearCase features
have been installed.
