Binding Projects and Solutions to Source Control

In some instances, you must complete or edit the binding of a Visual Studio project to ClearCase® source control.

Binding refers to the two-step process of notifying a Visual Studio project that its contents are under the control of a source control system and adding that project to source control. Most of the time, both steps happen together. For example, a binding is completed when you create a new Visual Studio project in a ClearCase view through the Visual Studio integrated development environment (IDE). However, if you add project files to source control outside the Visual Studio IDE, for instance, Visual Studio is not notified that the project is under ClearCase source control. You must complete the binding of the project to ClearCase source control manually.

The Rational® ClearCase Client for Visual Studio .NET provides several methods to help you bind a solution or project to ClearCase source control.
