From this site, you can install the IBM Rational ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse by following the installation directions on this page. For information on installing the IBM Rational ClearCase Remote Client or the ClearCase Remote Client feature for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, 2008, or 2010, follow the links provided in the sections below.

Rational ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse requires that GEF be installed in your Eclipse environment. If you do not have GEF, you must install it before installing the Rational ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse.

• Installing GEF with Eclipse 3.2.x and 3.3.x
  1. On the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Software Updates > Find and Install.
  2. On the Feature Updates page, select Search for new features to install and then click Next
  3. On the Update sites to visit page, select Callisto Discovery Site (for Eclipse 3.2) or Europa Discovery Site (for Eclipse 3.3) and expand the option to see a list of available features.
  4. Select Graphical Editing Framework from the Graphical Editors and Frameworks section of the Callisto Discovery Site for Eclipse 3.2 or Graphical Editing Framework from the Graphical Editors and Frameworks section of the Europa Discovery Site for Eclipse 3.3 and then click Next. (Note that you should choose a version of GEF that corresponds with the version of Eclipse that you are using.)
  5. On the Search Results page, select Graphical Editing Framework and then click Next.
  6. On the Feature License page, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next. If you do not accept the terms, select Cancel to end the installation.
  7. On the Install Location page, select the Eclipse sites where you want to install the feature and then click Finish.
• Installing GEF with Eclipse 3.4
  1. On the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Software Updates.
  2. On the Available Software page, select Ganymede Update Site and expand the option to see a list of available features.
  3. Expand the Graphical Editors and Frameworks section and select the Graphical Editing Framework version that corresponds with the version of Eclipse that you are using.
  4. Click Install.
  5. On the Install page, click Next.
  6. On the Review Licenses page, read the license agreement carefully. If you accept the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Finish. If you do not accept the terms, select Cancel to end the installation.
  7. When the installation completes, you are prompted to restart Eclipse or apply changes. Click Yes to restart Eclipse.
• Installing GEF with Eclipse 3.5
  1. On the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Install New Software.
  2. On the Available Software page, select Galileo - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo from the Work with pull down menu, expand the Modeling option, select the Graphical Modeling Framework SDK option, and click Next.
  3. On the Install Details page, verify that Graphical Modeling Framework SDK appears as an item to be installed and click Next.
  4. On the Review Licenses page, read the license agreement carefully. If you accept the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreements and then click Finish. If you do not accept the terms, select Cancel to end the installation.
  5. When the installation completes, you are prompted to restart Eclipse or apply changes. Click Yes to restart Eclipse.
• Installing GEF with Eclipse 3.6
  1. On the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Install New Software.
  2. On the Available Software page, select Helios - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios from the Work with pull down menu, expand the Modeling option, select the Graphical Editing Framework GEF SDK option, and click Next.
  3. On the Install Details page, verify that Graphical Editing Framework GEF SDK appears as an item to be installed and click Next.
  4. On the Review Licenses page, read the license agreement carefully. If you accept the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreements and then click Finish. If you do not accept the terms, select Cancel to end the installation.
  5. When the installation completes, you are prompted to restart Eclipse or apply changes. Click Restart Now to restart Eclipse.

• Installing with Eclipse 3.2.x and 3.3.x
  1. If Eclipse is not running, start Eclipse.
  2. On the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Software Updates > Find and install.
  3. On the Feature Updates page, select Search for new features to install and then click Next.
  4. On the Update sites to visit page, click New Remote Site.
  5. In the New Update Site dialog:
     1. In the Name field specify a name for this site.
     2. In the URL field specify a URL of the form http://<computer-name>/ccrc/update where <computer-name> is the name of the computer that has Rational ClearCase and the CM Server for Rational ClearCase Remote Client installed on it.
        Note: Rational ClearCase may be installed on this computer or on a remote computer.
     3. Click OK.
  6. Select the new update site in the Sites to include in search list and then click Finish.
  7. On the Search Results page, expand the tree under the new update site name, select Rational ClearCase Remote Client and then click Next.
     Note: If you see an error about the Rational ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse requiring the "org.eclipse.draw2d" plug-in, follow the instructions in Installing GEF to install the GEF Runtime plug-in.
  8. On the Feature License page, read the license agreement carefully. If you accept the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreements and then click Next. If you do not accept the terms, select Cancel to end the installation.
  9. On the Installation page, verify that the Install Location is where you want to install the ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse. Click Change Location to specify a new install location.
  10. Click Finish. You may be presented with a dialog box prompting you to verify that you trust the signer of the jar files in which the client is packaged. After this step, the Eclipse update manager installs the ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse into the selected Eclipse installation directory and then prompts you to restart Eclipse.
  11. Restart Eclipse. To validate the installation after Eclipse restarts, go to the Eclipse main menu, click Window > Open Perspective > Other and then select ClearCase Explorer to open the ClearCase perspective.
• Installing with Eclipse 3.4
  1. If Eclipse is not running, start Eclipse.
  2. On the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Software Updates.
  3. On the Available Software page, select Add Site.
  4. In the Add Site dialog:
     1. In the Location field specify a URL of the form http://<computer-name>/ccrc/update where <computer-name> is the name of the computer that has Rational ClearCase and the CM Server for Rational ClearCase Remote Client installed on it.
        Note: Rational ClearCase may be installed on this computer or on a remote computer.
     2. Click OK.
  5. The new update site appears in the Available Software page. The site is expanded to display all available downloads. Select Rational ClearCase Remote Client and click Install.
     Note: If you see an error about the Rational ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse requiring the "org.eclipse.draw2d" plug-in, follow the instructions in Installing GEF to install the GEF Runtime plug-in.
  6. On the Install page, verify that all the features are selected, and click Next.
  7. On the Review Licenses page, read the license agreement carefully. If you accept the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Finish. If you do not accept the terms, select Cancel to end the installation.
  8. On the Search Results page, expand the tree under the new update site name, select Rational ClearCase Remote Client and then click Next.
     Note: If you see an error about the Rational ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse requiring the "org.eclipse.draw2d" plug-in, follow the instructions in Step 1 to install the GEF Runtime plug-in.
  9. On the Feature License page, read the license agreement carefully. If you accept the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreements and then click Next. If you do not accept the terms, select Cancel to end the installation.
     Note: You may be presented with a dialog box prompting you to verify that you trust the signer of the jar files in which the client is packaged.
     After this step, the Eclipse update manager installs the ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse into the selected Eclipse installation directory and then prompts you to restart Eclipse.
  10. Click Yes to restart Eclipse. To validate the installation after Eclipse restarts, go to the Eclipse main menu, click Window > Open Perspective > Other and then select ClearCase Explorer to open the ClearCase perspective.
• Installing with Eclipse 3.5
  1. If Eclipse is not running, start Eclipse.
  2. On the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Install New Software.
  3. On the Available Software page, click Add.
  4. In the Add Site dialog:

  6. On the Install page, verify that the Rational ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse appears as an item to be installed and click Next.
  7. On the Review Licenses page, read the license agreement carefully. If you accept the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreements and then click Finish. If you do not accept the terms, select Cancel to end the installation. After this step, the Eclipse update manager installs the ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse into the selected Eclipse installation directory and then prompts you to restart Eclipse.
  8. Click Yes to restart Eclipse. To validate the installation after Eclipse restarts, go to the Eclipse main menu, click Window > Open Perspective > Other and then select ClearCase Explorer to open the ClearCase perspective.
• Installing with Eclipse 3.6
  1. If Eclipse is not running, start Eclipse.
  2. On the Eclipse main menu, click Help > Install New Software.
  3. On the Available Software page, click Add.
  4. In the Add Repository dialog:
     1. In the Location field specify a URL of the form http://<computer-name>/ccrc/update where <computer-name> is the name of the computer that has Rational ClearCase and the CM Server for Rational ClearCase Remote Client installed on it.
        Note: Rational ClearCase may be installed on this computer or on a remote computer.
     2. Click OK.
  5. The new update site appears in the Available Software page. Select Rational ClearCase Remote Client and click Next.
  6. On the Install Details page, verify that the Rational ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse appears as an item to be installed and click Next.
  7. On the Review Licenses page, read the license agreement carefully. If you accept the terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreements and then click Finish. If you do not accept the terms, select Cancel to end the installation. After this step, the Eclipse update manager installs the ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse into the selected Eclipse installation directory and then prompts you to restart Eclipse.
  8. Click Restart Now to restart Eclipse. To validate the installation after Eclipse restarts, go to the Eclipse main menu, click Window > Open Perspective > Other and then select ClearCase Explorer to open the ClearCase perspective.

• To perform the update procedure if you are running the ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse, complete one of the following actions:
  • If you are running Eclipse 3.2.x or 3.3.x, click Help > Software Updates > Find and install and then select Search for updates of the currently installed features.
  • If you are running Eclipse 3.4, click Help > Software Updates. On the Installed Software page, select the features you want to update and click Update.
  • If you are running Eclipse 3.5 or 3.6, click Help > Check for Updates. In the Available Updates page, select the updates you want to install and click Next. On the Update Details page, verify your selections and click Finish to complete the process.
• To perform the update procedure if you are running the ClearCase Remote Client or the ClearCase Remote Client Extension for Rational Delivery Software Platform products, you can update directly from CM Server or you can update from a repository site. The ClearCase Remote Client and the ClearCase Remote Client Extension for Rational Delivery Software Platform products are installed using the IBM Installation Manager.
