Associating a defect record to a test log record

Before you begin
If you are using Rational ClearQuest version 7.0 Enterprise schema, you can use the Generated Defects page of a test log record to associate a defect record with a test log record. The association is displayed from the Generated Defects page of a test log record and the Test Log page of a defect record.
About this task
After a configured test case record is executed and the test results are committed using theRational® ClearQuest® Client or the Rational ClearQuest Client for Eclipse, you can use any Rational ClearQuest client to associate a defect record with the test log record.
  1. From the test log record associated with the executed configured test case, click the Generated Defects page and click Add to add a reference to an existing defect record. (Note, you can click New to create a defect record to be associated with the test log record.)
  2. Use the Browse Record Type window to locate the defect record you want to associate with the test execution and click OK.
  3. Save your changes for the test log record. The Test Log page of the associated defect record is updated to display the associated test log record.
What to do next
Using queries supplied by Rational ClearQuest Test Manager, you can track configured test case executions with the resolution of any associated defects.
