The installed settings that control the appearance and behavior
of the Rational® ClearCase® Client
for Visual Studio .NET are appropriate for most situations. Occasionally,
you might need to set options in the following areas.
Displaying the ClearCase Toolbars
In addition to the File, View, ClearCase,
and Tools menus, two toolbars allow quick access to
UCM and base ClearCase functions: ClearCase UCM and ClearCase Base.
Enabling Dynamic View File System Notification
Whenever a file is opened by Visual Studio, the IDE detects changes
made outside of the environment, and prompts users to reload changed files.
However, Visual Studio cannot detect changes made in a dynamic view, except
at checkout time. If you work in a dynamic view on a shared branch, enable
the Poll for background file changes option to avoid
the potential issue of working with files that do not reflect the latest changes.
Setting Rational ClearCase Options
By default, the installation of the Rational ClearCase Client
for Visual Studio .NET replaces parts of the Microsoft Visual Studio graphical
user interface with RationalChange
Management features, giving you more direct access to Rational ClearCase Client
functionality. For example, right-clicking an item under source control displays Rational ClearCase commands
on the pop-up menu. You can modify integration options on the Rational ClearCase Options
page.
