When you upgrade solutions and projects to the latest version of Microsoft® Visual Studio, here are some things to consider to ensure Rational® ClearCase®-controlled Web applications load and build correctly.
When you use Visual Studio 2005 to open an existing Web site that was created in Visual Studio .NET 2002 or 2003, your projects are automatically converted to the new Web site layout used in Visual Studio 2005. During the migration process, the integrated development environment (IDE) performs operations on existing files in Web projects that include renaming and moving some artifacts. Once the migration is complete, the artifacts are no longer compatible with earlier versions of Visual Studio.
For more information on these and other changes to Web projects, see the Visual Studio help.
For existing Web applications that are under source control, the file changes mentioned above require that the necessary files be placed in a writable condition. For both new and existing Web applications, there are also team development models to consider.
