The support by the TOSHIBA Diagnostics for POS Systems and Peripherals for the 4820-21x/51x touch panels provides more capabilities than what was provided for predecessor touch panels.

This document provides details on using the tools in the TGCS Diagnostics package for the 4820-21x/51x SurePoint touch panel.
This touch panel can be attached to any TOSHIBA POS system unit.
See the README file for this Diagnostics package to see the system units on which the TGCS Diagnostics package can be run. Be aware that this diagnostics package cannot be run on older legacy TGCS POS system units.
There may be one or two 4820 touch panels attached to the TOSHIBA POS system units.
These 4820 touch panels may also be attached to non-TOSHIBA POS system units.
In this case, you will need to attach the touch panel to an TOSHIBA POS system unit or to a Lenovo laptop to run the diagnostics package against it to service it.

Click on Point of Sale Devices button and this next screen appears:
If you have a keypad attached to the touch screen, answer YES to the question presented above.
The next panel relates to a cash drawer that may be attached to a POS printer. Answer the question presented based on your particular configuration.
The screen below tells you it is now setting up the diagnostic software to be able to communicate with the POS Devices.
The screen below shows the devices that typically appear when a 4820-21x/51x is attached. If you have two of these touch screens attached, there will be two of each device shown on the panel. The devices directly related to the touch screen are Keylock, MSR, Tone Indicator, POS Keyboard, and Touch Screen.

Note: This test requires user interaction. If you do not use an TOSHIBA Test Card for this activity and use some other card, most of the data read from the card will be hidden. However, you will be able to see the length of the data read. If you use an TOSHIBA Test Card, all the data read from the card is displayed in the clear as a result of the test..

Note that there are two different Tone Indicator tests. You will see only one at any time. There is a Tone Indicator test associated with the tone in the keypad when the keypad is attached.
If the keypad is not attached, there is a Tone Indicator test associated with the touch panel itself. If the Tone Indicator is enabled, the Tone Indicator test button appears on the POS I/O Diagnostics panel. If the Tone Indicator is disabled, the Tone Indicator test button does not appear on the POS I/O Diagnostics panel.
Note that the Tone Indicator test when a keypad is not attached to the display will have the Volume option grayed out. The volume control is not available for the Tone Indicator test when the keypad is not attached to the touch panel.

If the video firmware update cannot complete because of a power event or some other reason, boot the system again with the same diagnostics key used for the original video firmware update attempt, the video firmware update process will occur automatically upon system boot.
VPD means Vital Product Data. This utility is only intended for use in special cases.
The 4820 Display Configuration handles the Beep On Touch settings, Unintended Touch Rejection settings, and the Monitor Tone settings.
