The investigator assesses whether or not the children in the home are at risk of future abuse or neglect from the parents/guardians or others. Many jurisdictions use assessment instruments to determine level of risk. Use of the safety and risk assessments is optional for an agency and is not required as part of the investigation process. Cúram supports use of agencies preferred assessment instruments with products such as Intelligent Evidence Gathering (IEG), which is used to present questions, applicable answers and collect assessment data. Either Cúram Decision Assist (CDA) or Cúram Eligibility Rules (CER) can be used to determine the assessment results. Such assessments could be completed by investigation workers and results are used to help the workers determine the response for future services.
